Chapter 19: The King’s Intentions

In the Dean's office,

Athena, Lin, and Walter were sitting on the chairs with nervous expressions on their faces.

In front of them, the Dean of the Academy sat and he sipped the tea served calmly.

Although he sipped the tea calmly, the atmosphere was tense.

Athena, Lin, and Walter were looking down as they were afraid of meeting the Dean's gaze.

Seeing that they weren't saying anything, the Dean sighed and said "Can one of you provide details about the incident, please?"

Athena, Lin, and Walter gulped down in fear.

Athena spoke with her head bowed down "Darell, Emma, Lilith, Eric, and Ariel came for the combat classes being held for the first years..."

She explained the incident without missing a single detail.

After she had explained the entire incident, the room was eerily silent.

Athena, Lin, and Walter shuddered in fear.

Most of the Instructors in the Academy were individuals who had completely mastered rank 08 spells and their mana had increased to perform the rank 08 spells.

Some Instructors like Athena, Lin, and Walter were special because they had obtained mastery in rank 09 spells. They had increased their mana to perform the rank 09 spells.

The Dean of the Academy was the only person in the whole Academy who had mastered rank 10 spells. 

People who had mastered rank 10 spells were behemoths. They were extremely powerful existences. For example, a person who has mastered rank 10 Earth ability spells can destroy a whole city with a single punch. A person who has mastered rank 10 Illusion spells can bend reality to his/her will to some extent.

The Dean was one of the strongest existences in the Kingdom of Gavaria. Also, he was quite close to the King.

The Dean placed the empty teacup on the desk and sighed.

He contemplated for a few minutes and said "This has created some problems."

Athena, Lin, and Walter shuddered.

He said, "I have no idea what the King might do now."

Athena gulped down and said "The King won't hear about the incident for a few days. We can only hope he wakes up within those days."

The Dean shook his head and said "I am pretty sure he already knows what happened in the Academy. Surely, you all know his spies are present throughout the whole kingdom."

Athena, Lin, and Walter's faces instantly paled when they heard him. They had forgotten about the fact that some Instructors in the Academy were nothing more than a spy placed by the King in the Academy.

The Dean said, "I wonder whose heads will roll."

The King of the Kingdom of Gavaria was one of the strongest individuals in the world. He had perfected rank 10 spells. 

The Kingdom of Gavaria had numerous individuals who had mastered rank 10 spells but the King was the strongest of them all. This helped him in controlling some of the power-hungry people in the kingdom.

The Dean thought for a few minutes while looking at their pitiful faces.

He said, "I am going to tell you a little secret."

Athena, Lin, and Walter instantly recovered and looked at the Dean with serious expressions.

The Dean smirked and said, "The King is secretly protecting Darell and his friends."

Their eyes shot wide and their jaws dropped to their ground. They couldn't recover from the shock for a few minutes.

The Dean let them digest this information. He purposefully told them this top secret information because the King himself had ordered him to do so.

After a few minutes, they recovered and looked at each other and nodded their heads. Now that they had learned this fact, they would train them efficiently and pay extra attention to them.

The Dean smiled and said "The King had been secretly observing him and his friends from the day they had obtained their innate abilities. He was paying extra attention to Darell because he had obtained the Space ability. As you all know, this ability wasn't seen in any individual for ten thousand years. The King wanted to check Darell's personality and shield him from certain groups who might try to harm him.

I know that the other Kingdoms have heard about Darell and sent their spies to reel him into their kingdoms and if he refused they were ordered to kill him.

The King has killed hundreds of spies in the past month. The Kingdoms have stopped sending their spies as they have realized that their spies were killed."

Athena, Lin, and Walter listened to the Dean with eager expressions.

He continued "After the King had found Darell favorable, he tried to bind Darell into his kingdom by making him marry one of the princesses."

Athena, Lin, and Walter were shocked when they heard the extent the King had gone for Darell.

"Darell's father rejected the idea by saying that it was up to Darell to consider the marriage proposal and it was better to not force them into marriage.

The King surprisingly accepted Ralph's demand. "

He gestured for Athena, Lin, and Walter to drink the tea placed in the other teacups.

They reluctantly took the teacup and sipped the tea.

The Dean smirked and said, "When the King asked the princesses for the marriage, none of them were opposed to it."

He looked at them while smiling wickedly and said " Even the first princess."

Athena, Lin, and Walter spat out their tea and coughed out loud.

Seeing that his plan had worked out, the Dean laughed out loud.

Athena covered her mouth and recovered. She tried to hold back her anger and scold the Dean for his childish schemes.

She said, "But, the first princess is already engaged."

The Dean smirked and said, "I don't know why she accepted the marriage proposal."

They talked for a few hours and discussed what they would do if Darell woke up and how they would help them in the classes and pay extra attention to their surroundings.

When they left his office, he leaned back on his chair and said " I wonder what the King's intentions are."

Meanwhile,

A man who had white hair and a white beard sat on a throne. Although his hair had turned white, his face still had youthful vigor. He was wearing a black and red robe with a white vest on his upper body. He was wearing expensive clothes which would make everyone in the whole kingdom fill their hearts with envy and jealousy. He had a majestic crown placed on his head which further enhanced his regal appearance. He had an overbearing aura oozing out of him as he read the contents of the letter in his hand.

He crushed the letter in rage and threw it away. He thought of the contents of the letter and clenched his fists in rage. He thought of the current circumstances and sighed. He took a deep breath and said

"You must get stronger, Darell. 

The world needs you."
