Chapter 25: Delving Deep Into The Chambers

Darell, Lilith, Emma, Ariel, and Eric teleported to the second floor of the dungeon. The first thing they noticed was the change in the environment. 

The white sky had minute black patches which appeared as if they had sprouted in between the white sky. The lush grass and the dancing trees were reduced to a small extent.

Darell was confused when he saw the environment. He looked at Emma who also had a confused expression on her face.

Emma could feel that her Light skills which were abundant on the first floor had been reduced by a small degree.

But, this shouldn't be possible because the Draathil was a Light beast.

Darell shook his head and moved his thoughts to the back of his head.

They were looking around and checking out the environment when they suddenly heard a loud cry. 

They instantly readied their weapons for attack. 

They saw a group of ogres running towards them from the north wielding a wooden club in one hand and a wooden shield in another.

These ogres were rank 01 beasts but due to their race, they had the strength of a rank 02 beast. They were 10 feet tall with white eyes. Their skin was ghostly pale which was sparsely covered by a torn white cloth.

From the east, Darell and the others heard another loud cry and saw a group of goblins running towards them. They were the same rank 02 goblins Darell and the others had killed on the first floor.

Darell heard a new notification from the system.

[DING]

[ Quest - Defeat the monsters ]

[ Reward - 50 XP ]

Darell brandished his sword and said, "I and Eric will take down the goblins in the east while Emma, Lilith, and Ariel will take down the ogres in the north."

All of them went to their respective destinations and started battling it out with the beasts.

Darell and Eric didn't have any difficulty in dealing with the goblins. Eric used his gauntlets to blast open the goblins' heads. He would also punch through their bodies creating a hole within them. He didn't care about the blood as he was used to it during his time in the Forbidden Forest. Darell, on the other hand, was toying with the goblins. He would simply dodge the goblins' attacks and push them back. He would also pick one of the goblins and throw it towards the other goblins with such a speed that it would make all of them burst open on contact.

Lilith used her skills to confuse the ogres. She then used her sword to behead them instantly. She also cast an Ice Tornado and threw them off instantly. She didn't want to waste MP on the lower-ranked beasts so, she finished the battle without using much of her skills.

Ariel threw her chakra at the ogres and stayed far away from them as much as possible. She wasn't going to use her rank 04 skills on the beast.

Emma was having difficulties concentrating on the fight. She could feel that her Light ability was being suppressed but she didn't panic and fought the ogres while using her Light ability skills. The more she used her skills, the more she felt her mana increase and the more her understanding of the Light ability increased. She was excited and fought the ogres with increased intensity.

After a couple of minutes, all the ogres and the goblins were defeated and they repeated the process of cleaning their clothes and swords in a lake they found on the second floor.

They saw another green portal in the forest and stepped into it.

Darell and the others arrived at the third floor of the dungeon. They saw that the dark spots in the sky had grown bigger. The radiance in the environment had dimmed. Emma felt the pressure on her ability to grow stronger.

All of them felt uneasiness fill their hearts as they looked around the environment. 

Surprisingly, Darell felt a new surge of power flowing through his body. 

[DING]

[ YOU ARE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE DARKNESS]

[ YOUR STATS HAVE INCREASED ]

Darell opened his stats as soon as he read the notification.

Although the increase in the stats was minute, it still made a big difference.

Darell narrowed his eyes as he began thinking why only he had his stats increase whereas the others didn't.

'Could it be due to the system?'

He thought to himself and suddenly had a major revelation.

'How and why did I obtain the system?'

However, his thoughts were stopped when he felt the ground shaking.

He looked around and saw a group of ogres and goblins marching toward them. Strangely, they had a rhythm in their movements. It appeared as if they were being ordered.

A goblin bigger than the rest of the goblins appeared. He had a shield in one hand and a sword in the other. He was wearing white armor that covered his shoulders and arms leaving his chest uncovered. He had a white helmet on him which made it difficult to observe his face.

Darell used Inspect and found that the strange goblin was a goblin boss and a rank 03 beast.

[DING]

[ Quest - Defeat the goblin boss ]

[ Reward - 50 XP ]

Darell saw the notification and looked around at the others. They were looking at the strange goblin curiously and wearily.

Darell said, "That is a goblin boss and a rank 03 monster."

They didn't think anything about how Darell knew what monster it was and what rank it was and accepted it.

Darell and Lilith grouped to fight the goblins coming at them from the east while Emma, Eric, and Ariel fought the goblins together from the west.

They defeated the goblins fairly easily and the only one left was the goblin boss.

Darell used his sword combat technique and sliced the goblin boss into two.

After they had finished the battle, they decided to stop training for today.

They went out of the training hall and towards their dorm rooms where they quickly freshened themselves and arrived at the dining hall.

They chatted together while eating dinner.

Darell noticed that Abel and his gang weren't present today in the dining hall. He threw the thought in the back of his head and continued eating.

They then went to their dorm rooms where they fell asleep.
