Chapter 29: The Forsaken Draathil

Darell and his group arrived at the 20th floor of the dungeon.

The first thing they could say was...

"AHHH!"

An indescribable pain was felt by everyone. They clenched their chests tightly. They couldn't even stand straight and were struggling to stand. Their legs were shaking and their bodies were trembling due to the immense pressure they felt. This pressure was due to the darkness that surrounded them.

Eric and Ariel were holding onto themselves while trying to withstand the pressure they felt.

Lilith was also struggling with the pressure of the darkness surrounding her. She was not able to make her body stop trembling and shivering.

Emma was in the worst condition compared to any of them. She was struggling to breathe because her ability was the direct opposite of the darkness, she felt as if it was choking her. 

She couldn't bear the pressure because she was at a low level. If she was at a higher level then, she could bear the pressure.

Her body was sweating profusely and she felt pain all over her body that she never felt before. She fell and she was about to be unconscious at any moment.

Darell, surprisingly, was okay. He didn't feel any pain or pressure rather he felt a comfortable feeling coursing through his veins. But, he didn't have time to focus on these things because he saw the miserable condition of his friends.

He ran over to Emma and made her stand up. He then gave her vitality potions which helped her a little bit.

He looked at the others who were also suffering and said "Quickly, construct barriers around you to cut off the pressure."

They followed his orders and did so.

Eric used the ground beneath his feet to form a protective armor on his body. The dark brown armor eased some of the pressure he was feeling on his body.

Ariel used the sound waves around her to create a thick barrier that blocked the pressure of the darkness. This helped her to reduce the pressure.

Lilith created Ice armor which made her look like a warrior.

Emma was too weak to create a barrier for herself so, Lilith created an Ice barrier for her which helped for to stand straight.

Darell sighed when he looked at them. However, he was interrupted by a notification from the system.

[YOU ARE INFLUENCED BY THE DARKNESS]

[YOUR STATS HAVE INCREASED]

Darell furrowed his brows when he saw the notification. He had received this notification when he entered the higher floors of the dungeon the first time.

He threw this information at the back of his head as he took a look at his stats.

[Name - Darell Rogers]

When he looked at his stats, he almost shouted in surprise.

'A jump of 8 levels! What the hell?'

Darell thought to himself. Usually, an increase of one level would raise his stats by 10. Here, the level was the same but the stats had increased by 80.

He shook his head and said "If you all are confused about the pressure you all are feeling on your bodies. Then, allow me to explain."

All of them nodded and he continued 

"This dungeon's name was not what it is called now. Thousands of years ago, this dungeon was filled with undead monsters with a high-ranked undead monster on the boss floor.

A Light ability beast in the nearby forests surrounding the dungeon had a sudden behavior change. It grew violent and attacked the town, butchering the people.

This enraged the then king, who led a group to capture the beast.

However, the beast quickly escaped and the group continued to chase it for many months.

In desperation, the beast ran inside the dungeon. The King called off the group as the beast was going to be killed sooner or later.

However, thousands of years later, the beast survived but it was trapped inside the dungeon. But, as you all can see, the darkness has still not been erased even after thousands of years. The Light beast is now the master of this dungeon.

This beast is called The Forsaken Draathil."

All of them had serious expressions on their faces as they contemplated his words.

While they were thinking, Darell observed the environment.

The entire sky was black. It had no illumination and if one observed it for a long time, he/she could feel a menacing aura coming out of it.

All of the grass, shrubs, trees, etc were entirely black. They appeared as if their vitality had been sucked out of them leaving them as dry husks.

The lakes on the floor had been dried up and all that was left of them were huge craters which made them.

The air which was flowing through the floor was black and they could see it flowing through them.

This made them understand the reason they were feeling pressure on their bodies.

The whole floor had been silent.

Until.....

* AWWWWOOOOOOOO *

A loud howl made them turn in its direction. They saw a beast glaring at them.

This beast had the body of a wolf. It had white fur which glistened and glowed in the darkness. It was around 10 meters tall with huge fangs. 

It had huge white antlers which were emitting a radiant light. The antlers had several leaves growing on them which indicated their long lifespan. 

Its purple eyes shone and had a menacing look among them. There was a purple aura surrounding the beast.

Darell, Lilith, Emma, Eric, and Ariel only need to take a second to understand that the huge beast ahead of them was the Forsaken Draathil.

Darell quickly used Inspect and checked its stats.

He sighed as he read the beast's stats.

While they were thinking, the Draathil didn't wait any longer and created an army of different types of monsters which included ogres, orcs, lizardmen, goblins, centuars, etc.

The army charged toward Darell and his group.
