Chapter 31: Announcement

Darell and his group were eating breakfast at the dining hall. 

Most of the first-years were present in the dining hall. In the academy, dorms and dining halls were built separately to avoid bullying and unnecessary conflict among the students.

Of course, some courageous students ignored this rule and tried to bully weaker students. These students were captured by the instructors and no one would see them for a couple of weeks.

When they came back to class, everyone could see a blank expression on their faces with their eyes filled with despair.

Suddenly, a loud voice could be heard in the dining hall.

"All first-year students are required to arrive in the assembly hall in about fifteen minutes."

All of the students started gobbling up their breakfast because if they arrived late they were bound to be punished.

Darell and his group recognized Instructor Lin's voice. But, they were not in any hurry to get to the assembly hall because they had already finished their meal.

They knew that it must be an important announcement for which they were required to be in the assembly hall.

After a few minutes, they got up from their seats and walked toward the assembly hall.

The assembly hall was located in the southern part of the academy. It was the biggest hall in the entire academy as it was built to accommodate all of the students of the academy. 

Darell and his group were walking towards the assembly hall while chatting among themselves. Since they got admitted to the academy they haven't visited the assembly hall so they were excited to see the biggest hall for the first time.

As the hall was located in the southern part, they had to walk through the buildings where magic classes were held for the second year.

A group of second-years was standing outside the building and laughing among themselves while ridiculing the first-year students.

Darell and his group ignored them and continued their way towards the hall.

However, Darell felt someone's killing intent on him. He instantly looked around to find the person. Since he had always activated his skill Sense because it consumed zero MP, it allowed him to feel someone's killing intent towards him.

When he couldn't find the person, he continued on his way with narrowed eyes.

'Shit! He almost caught me.' A mysterious person stared at Darell's back and thought to himself. 'I have to be careful from now on.'

Darell and his group arrived at the hall and were instantly mesmerized by it.

The building was surrounded by perfectly cut grass and several tall trees. It was built on a raised platform and there were several stairs one had to climb to reach it.

There were four statues on each corner of the hall. The statues depicted a man riding on a phoenix with a sword in one hand.

This man was none other than the king who ordered the slaughter of the beasts who attacked the town of Lont.

The hall was exceptionally grand and majestic which displayed the grandeur of the academy. It had a beautiful combination of blue and golden colors which further enhanced the grandeur of the hall. Several flags depicting the symbol of the Kingdom of Gavaria and the Varona royal academy stood atop the building.

Darell and his group stood at the same spot for several minutes while gawking at the hall.

They were surrounded by the other students who were similarly dazed by the majestic building.

They snapped out of their trance when an instructor shouted and ordered them to hurry inside the hall.

When Darell and his group entered the hall, they were able to see its massive size of it.

The hall was incredibly massive and it was built to host thousands of students and instructors alike.

There was a platform built which was decorated with numerous colors. There were chairs present on the ground.

Darell and his group sat on the chairs and saw the instructors standing on the platform.

After several minutes, all the first-year students arrived in the hall. 

Most of them were nervous and talked among themselves discussing the reason they were called here.

Darell noticed that the walls had various runes and inscriptions written on them. He also noticed thousands of beast cores embedded in them.

Suddenly, the hall became silent.

The Dean arrived in the hall with several Instructors following him. He walked towards the platform while glancing at Darell.

Darell frowned and continued to observe him.

The Dean stood on the platform and coughed a little.

Instructor Lin used his ability to make the dean's voice loud enough to reach the entire hall.

"Good morning! Most of you must have been wondering about the reason for being called here. Well, you don't have to worry.

Like every year, a test is going to be held to test your progress.

The test's main objective is to perform a rank 01 and rank 02 skill.

If you aren't able to do so, you will fail the test.

However, this won't affect your annual result if you can perform well in the dungeon test that is going to be held in the next weeks.

Also, the test is going to be held the next week.

I wish you good luck with the test."

The Dean finished his speech and walked off the platform.

The Instructors then explained the details. of the test and then the students were escorted out of the hall.

Darell went to the library while Lilith and the others quickly went to their classroom.

When Darell entered the library, he noticed the silver-haired girl pick up several books from the shelves. He tried to find out the name of the books but she quickly hid them.

Darell was disappointed when he couldn't figure out the books but he shook his head and took some of the books and read them.

However, the silver-haired girl was merely pretending to read the books and her main aim was to observe Darell.

'I will find out the truth sooner or later.' 

She thought to herself while observing him.
