Chapter 38: Journey

"Are you ready bro?"

"Of course! I was born ready."

"Then why are your hands shaking? Are you nervous?"

" Shut up!"

Multiple carriages were present at the gate of the academy. The students would be traveling to the dungeon by the carriages.

Most of the carriages were small enough for 5 people to fit in but the carriage for Darell and the rest was large enough to fit 10 people in it. It was also the grandest and most luxurious.

Of course, thus blatant favoritism enraged the students but they couldn't do anything to Darell and the rest so, they began badmouthing them behind their backs.

" Hey! Look how the instructors are kissing the boots of them." 

" Yeah! Other than being the children of high nobility they don't have anything worth mentioning." 

"Hmph! What's so good about Darell anyway? 

That trash dared to fight with a rank 06 monster. It would have been better if he would have been killed–urghf" 

The student who dared to speak such words felt a hand of ice choking him to the point that he felt his whole face about to explode. 

Lilith had trauma from that incident. If anyone dared to mention it and insulted her brother, she was enraged enough to kill them. 

" Stop! Lilith, calm down."

Athena calmed her down by patting her shoulder and turned to the student who was coughing violently on the ground. 

" You will have to walk the whole way with a 4000 kg block of ice tied to you. You are NOT allowed to enter any carriage."

She glared at the rest and continued, "If anyone helps him, be prepared to join him in his punishment." 

The others quickly avoided him like he was the plague. 

Darell saw the whole drama and shook his head. He realized that no matter how hard he tried to get away from conflicts, they would always find him. 

He entered the carriage along with Lilith, Emma, Ariel, and Eric. 

Eric and Ariel sat together on the other side of the carriage while he sat together with Emma on his right and Lilith on his left.

They had brought several kinds of potions with them like mana potions, recovery potions, strength potions, defense potions, etc. 

This was the first time they were entering a dungeon. It was entirely different from the training halls where one could exit anytime they wanted and continue after they have recovered.

This time a tiny mistake would lead to them losing their lives. It was not training anymore, it was a real battle. 

So, considering the dangers they may face in it, they decided to not underestimate it and be prepared for any scenario. 

They bought the armor and weapons from the academy and through their parents' connections. 

Their parents decided that since it was their first armor and weapons, it was better to be safe than sorry. So, they splurged money to buy them rank 04 armor and weapons which could be used in their second year also. 

They all had bought armor according to their choice. 

Eric's armor was black and golden. He didn't like any flashy capes or surcoats. Since he often fought in close combat, the cape or surcoat would hinder his movements. He had requested light armor. 

The sabatons were black-golden similar to the greaves, poleyons, and cuisses. The rerebrance armor was black-golden and had an exquisite claw mark on it just like his breastplate and backplate. 

As for his weapon, he had two gauntlets that protected his lower arms and hands. They had spikes protruding on each finger and it was golden red. 

Ariel selected much simpler armor than Eric. She had chosen to exclude the breastplate and the backplate. She was an extremely agile person and she always fought using long-range skills. 

She had silver armor but she wore a surcoat over her armor that had golden patterns embroidered all around the blue background. 

Her chakra had a unique shape because it was forged in a 'S' shape with thin spikes protruding from the blades and it was silver red in color.

Lilith also wore simple armor. She wore a silver breastplate that had a snowflake-shaped pattern carved on it. She had decided to not wear cuisses. Her doublet which she wore underneath her armor was dark blue in color unlike Ariel's which was black. 

She had chosen to go with a light golden cape flowing down from her shoulders to the ground. Her sword had a bone-chilling aura surrounding it. It had a golden handle while the sword was greyish blue in color. 

Emma wore golden-white armor. She didn't opt for a full body armor but she chose armor like Lilith. She had a short white cape while her white surcoat had golden patterns embroidered in it. 

Her dagger had a distinct shape and it was almost the size of her lower arm. It was greyish-white in color. 

Darell opted for a full body armor excluding the cape and the surcoat. His armor was greyish-black in colour. His breastplate and his shoulders had a distinctive 'V' shaped silver mark forged. The armor was light but it provided an adequate defense against the attacks. 

His sword had a black hilt while the rest of it was blackish-red in colour. It had an eerie aura surrounding it. 

They had been given such expensive equipment and they were going to take care of it since they could also do certain quests for the academy. 

" Wake up! We have arrived, Darell." 

They had finally arrived after a week of traveling.
