Chapter 42: Spirit Trolls And Fire Giants

Darell and the rest chose room 05 from the three doors in room 04.

As they enter room 05, a strong stench of blood entered their nostrils which caused them to hurriedly cover it.

They looked around and saw a stream of blood flowing along a channel on the floor and a pile of blood-soaked clothing was scattered on the east side of the room.

Eric sighed and said, "Nothing we can do other than get used to the scene in front of us."

They couldn't do much other than agree to his words.

As they scanned the room, they discovered a group of monsters wandering in the room.

Most of the monsters stood around 9 feet tall on long, ungainly legs. They had thin bodies and possessed long-hanging arms that ended in massive claws. They had a severe hunch on their backs and they had a messy, hair-like growth colored black or steel gray.

While most of them looked the same, there was a single monster who appeared different as parts of its body were ethereal and passed through others' bodies.

Emma said, "Trolls! The majority are trolls and the weird one is a spirit troll."

Darell used Inspect and found that the trolls were all rank 01 monsters and the spirit troll was a rank 02 monster.

Ariel said, "There are 13 of them including the spirit troll."

Darell got a quest to kill the trolls from the system which he happily accepted.

Lilith gestured for everybody to gather around and said, "Since there are 13 of them, each one of us should handle 3 of them to quickly finish the fight."

Everyone agreed and readied their weapons.

Lilith ran towards the trolls leaving behind a trail of ice and used Ice Chains to hold two of them in place. She then used her sword and cut one of the troll's head off. Then, she slashed her sword across the upper body of the other troll which burst upon and spilled out its innard resulting in its death. Then, she created a Mist Bomb and threw it on the face of the third troll which exploded the poor troll's whole upper body.

Eric hit the ground with his gauntlets and used Spiked Ground which caused several spikes to form from the floor and pierce the bodies of the two trolls in front of him resulting in their deaths.

Emma used her daggers to cut open the trolls' bodies. She was extremely fast which made the trolls unable to see her properly.

Ariel threw her chakra while confusing the trolls with her skill Death's Scream. The chakra cleanly cut off the confused trolls' heads.

Darell used Reaper Fist and punched the troll to oblivion. As the spirit troll came close to him, he used Earth-Shattering Slash and cut the troll's body into two.

As the battle ended, a similar platform rose from the ground from which they collected the rewards and extracted the beast cores from the trolls.

Now, they saw three doors where one led back to room 01, another led to room 71 and the last led to room 06.

They looked at each other and nodded while carefully opening the simple wooden door and stepping into room 06.

As they entered room 06, they sighed in relief when they saw no monsters in the room.

"This is advantageous for us as we can rest for a while before entering another room," Lilith said while checking the room.

When they had fully rested, they chose to go to room 07.

When they entered room 07, they felt uncomfortable in their armor which was surprising since it was the first time they felt like that. Sweat dripped from their foreheads as they realized that the whole temperature inside the room had increased drastically.

They looked around and saw a group of monsters standing across the room.

"Fire Giants!" all of them exclaimed.

Fire Giants were rank 02 monsters who had very broad bodies and tall legs which made their heights roughly 10 feet tall.

Their skin was black, reminiscent of coal, and the color of their hair tended towards a spectrum of flaming orange or red with similarly colored red eyes.

They had flame-colored or black armor with their weapons at their side.

Darell and the rest talked among themselves.

"There are 8 fire giants and there are five of us," Emma said.

Ariel said, "How about I and Emma take on one of them each?

Then the rest of us can equally take on two of them."

"Agreed," Darell said.

They quickly started fighting.

Darell dodged the fireballs thrown at him and used his sword to cut down the fire giant in front of him but as he tried to cut down the next one, the giant blocked his attempt using his sword and jumped backward.

Darell smiled and kept attacking the giant who had no choice but to dodge the incoming fast attacks but it couldn't keep it up as it was dragged to a corner where Darell put more strength in the attack which shattered the armor and the body of the giant.

Lilith attacked the giants with jer sword while impaling them with several Ice Spears. She didn't give any chance to the giants and cut their heads off.

Eric shattered the sword of the giant in front of him and used his gauntlet to punch the giant's stomach which shattered its armor and burst open the area. He used the same method to kill the next giant.

Ariel used Sound Bullet and burst open the giant's head without moving a single step from her place.

Emma used Blind and threw the dagger which pierced the giant's head while it was blinded by her.

After the fight, they collected the rewards and took the beast cores out from the giants, and chose to go to room 08.

They entered room 08 and relaxed when they found an absence of monsters.

Emma looked at her clock and said, "It is going to be night soon. We should take a rest and continue tomorrow."
