Chapter 48: Hidden Treasures

In room 17,

Five people dressed in shiny and exquisite armor were fighting the goblinoids.

If people were to witness this battle, it would be seen as a fierce battle between the humans and the goblinoids.

But, for the five individuals it wouldn't even be called a warmup because, for them, the goblinoids were much weaker.

Ten minutes later,

Ariel flipped her blue hair as she took out the core from the goblinoid's chest and whispered softly, "Last one!"

She turned to Darell and shouted, "Catch!"

She threw the core to Darell who caught it and kept it in a bag filled with beast cores.

Lilith came over to her and nudged her as she asked, "Do you remember anything peculiar about this dungeon?

Out of all of us, only you took on the impossible task of memorizing the facts of all dungeons."

As Darell, Eric, and Emma heard Lilith, they were also interested in it.

Ariel put a finger on her chin as she pondered and said," To be honest, I don't remember much but every dungeon has some common characteristics.

For example, hidden treasure chests."

At the mention of the name, everybody's eyes lit up.

She continued, "We should carefully observe every part of the floor, wall, and ceiling of every room to get the chests."

Everybody nodded as they headed to room 18.

A rotting carpet and several craters sit in the center of the room and a thumping sound filled the room. 

Someone had scrawled "Stay Left" in orcish runes on the west wall and a sundered shield lied in the northeast corner of the room. 

The group observed that there are several goblinoids in the room. So, they started their routine. 

After they killed and extracted the beast cores from the goblinoids, Ariel ordered them to look around for the hidden treasure chest. 

All of them went their separate ways to search for the chest. 

After a short while, 

Eric was pressing his hand over the wall on the western side of the room to feel if there were any hollow bricks in the wall. 

He sighed as he removed his hand from the wall the tenth time and failed to find any hollow brick. 

He was going to quit when someone caught his eye. He noticed a brick that was placed deeper than the rest of the bricks. 

He pushed the brick deeper and the wall rumbled as it separated from the middle to show the hidden treasure chest. 

Eric immediately shouted, "Guys! I found it! Come here." 

The rest of the group quickly came over and shouted exclamations of joy upon finding their first hidden treasure chest. 

Eric asked, "Umm... Who is going to open the chest?" 

Everyone paused and looked at Darell. 

Darell shrugged his shoulders and said, "It's simple. Whoever finds the chest will open the chest." 

Everyone nodded and hurried Eric to quickly open the chest. 

Before he could open it, Ariel came over and said, "Here is a good luck charm for you."

She kissed him on the cheek and patted his shoulders before she left.

Eric blushed and gulped as he opened the chest. 

Everybody surrounded him and held their breaths at the sight of the shiny items. 

Eric said," Let's begin. 

First, there are a hundred gold coins and 5 pleric coins." 

He gave the coins to Emma who took out a bag and placed them in it. 

Then, he took out an amber chalice engraved with noble imagery.

Eric laughed and said, "I will keep this for my dad as we all know he is fond of items like this." 

Everyone agreed and he took out a chain shirt armor which no one agreed to take so they decided to sell it. 

Then, he took out a brown ring engraved with gems. 

"What is this?" he asked. 

Ariel took the ring and observed it. 

She exclaimed in surprise and explained, "T-This is a Ring Of Beastial Control. This ring has only three spells such as friendship, fear, and communication. 

We were taught about this ring in the class." 

When nobody remembered anything, she sighed and said, "This ring can help you speak to lower-ranked monsters and control them." 

Everybody's eyes lit up as they understood the importance of the ring.

But, Darell, Emma, and Lilith refused to take the ring for themselves. 

Eric knew what the three of them were thinking and he said," Keep it for yourself, Ariel. Everybody agrees with the decision." 

Seeing everyone agree, she put on the ring on her finger. 

Then, Eric took out a longsword which everyone decided to sell it. 

Eric said, "Well, that is all there is to the chest." 

Everyone nodded and they went to room 19.

They entered the room and found no monsters. So, they immediately started searching for the chest. 

After a short while, Lilith found the chest but they couldn't go to open the chest. 

When everyone came over to her location, she informed them, "The place behind the chest is filled with arrows. 

When I tried to get close to the chest, first there were normal metal arrows thrown at me but when I tried to shield myself with Ice Shield, the arrows immediately changed to fire arrows." 

Emma replied," So, the arrows change to the opposite nature of the mana we use to cast the shield. "

Lilith nodded. 

Darell cleared his throat and said," I will go. I can just cast Nihility on me. It will be the perfect counter to disable the trap." 

He then took a step forward and an arrow immediately shot forward toward him. 

Darell cast Nihility and strode forward unhurriedly as the arrow went through him. 

He walked towards the chest and then he had a weird feeling. 

He observed the chest and furrowed his brows. He took out a gold coin from his inventory and flicked it toward the chest. 

The coin passed through the chest and disappeared. Thus, confirming his suspicion of the chest being an illusion cast by a teleporter crystal. 

Teleporter crystals are objects that are used to trick people to lower their guards and when they touch them they are teleported to a random location.

The only way to destroy it is by using overwhelming strength. 

Darell cast Star Strike and punched the crystal behind the chest. 

The crystal shattered and the floor in the opposite direction of the crystal opened up to reveal the real chest. 

Darell ran over to the puzzled group and explained, "The chest was just an illusion cast by a teleporter crystal. The real chest revealed itself after I broke it." 

Everyone understood and they urged Darell to quickly open the chest. 

Darell opened his chest and widened his eyes in disbelief as he shouted," HOLY SHIT! "

As the rest of the group saw the items in the chest they couldn't help but curse. 

Darell gulped as he counted and said, "Umm... we got 100 gold coins, 35 pleric coins, 5 platinum coins, five jacinth crystals, three opal crystals, two emerald crystals, and two yellow sapphire crystals."

The girls patted their chests as they forced themselves to calm down. 

These crystals are mainly used to create beautiful jewelry. Also, viewing the girls' unrestrained fondness for them, Darell and Eric quickly made gestures at each other that no one noticed. 

Then, he took out three potions each of strength, healing, and vitality. 

As all the items in the chest had been raided, they headed to room 20.
