Chapter 49: Cruising Through

Darell and the group were extremely motivated after obtaining items from the chests so, they pushed on as they ran through rooms 20,21, and 22.

As they entered room 23, they stumbled upon a dozen hobgoblins waiting for them.

They immediately began fighting the hobgoblins as they had developed a tacit understanding of each other.

Darell fought with the monsters unhurriedly as he blocked their attacks and killed them with his sword.

The battle only lasted a few minutes and the group began their routine extraction of beast cores.

After they had extracted it and collected the extra silver coins and potions from the platform, they began searching for a hidden chest.

But, they failed to find any chest even after an hour of searching. As they had searched the whole floor thoroughly, all of them concluded that there was no hidden chest in the room so they entered the next room.

The room was dimly lit by some candles placed in the holes in the walls around the room. There were three doors around the room which led to different rooms.

A circle of tall stones stood on the south side of the room and someone had scrawled "The Temple Of XXXX shall be lost" on the south wall.

The group observed their surroundings and discovered about 15 hobgoblins present in the room.

They fought with the hobgoblins and killed them in a matter of minutes.

After doing everything else, they searched the whole floor extensively for the hidden treasure chest.

Darell sighed as he failed to find any trace of a hidden chest.

Ariel patted his shoulder and asked, "Nothing?"

Darell shook his head with a downcast expression.

Ariel sighed and said, "If there is nothing, let's move on to the next room and stop wasting our time."

In room 25, it was dark except for a few candles irregularly placed around the room. There were three doors in the room.

Several holes were cut into the west wall and someone had scrawled an incomplete drawing of a dragon on the east wall.

As they saw the orges present in the room, they immediately fought them without any delay.

After the battle, they repeated the search for a hidden chest but failed to find any as they entered the next room.

The room was circular and there were two doors in opposite directions. A stone stair ascended towards the east wall and several monstrous corpses lay scattered throughout the room.

They entered the next room when they saw that there were no monsters in the room.

A rotting odor filled the room and several broken weapons were scattered around the room.

It was a straight pathway leading to the next room.

They hurriedly entered room 28.

It was an irregularly shaped room with two rooms on the north and east side of the room.

Burning torches in iron sconces lined the wall and there were several shattered weapons and armor on the ground indicating the group from a previous battle.

As they noticed the monsters in the room, they readied their weapons for the battle.
