Chapter 7: System Shop

"Looks like it's time to check out the system shop "

Darell grinned and opened the system shop.

He already knew he was leveling up faster and getting stronger than anybody.

But, he hoped that there would be a skill that could help him hide his ridiculously overpowered stats.

In the Academy, students are given status cards which are used for the various facilities in the academy.

If an official noticed his op stats, he would be interrogated and his biggest secret would come out. 

So, he wanted to avoid that outcome.

When he opened the system shop, he was shocked to see so many things.

Darell was astonished when he saw he could obtain rank 10 skills, weapons, and even combat techniques. 

However, he was intrigued by the locked category but he didn't bother inquiring about it as he knew the system would only 

order him to level up.

He chuckled inwardly and scrolled through the skills section. He couldn't see rank 03 to rank 10 skills so he deduced that his prowess had reached rank 02.

As he scrolled through, his eyes caught hold of a skill.

[Conceal]

[Description - The user can conceal his strength using this skill. When activated, the user can freely set his stats to any number.]

[Note - The user's actual stats do NOT decrease or increase. In combat, the user can fight only on his actual stats]

Darell grinned but when he noticed it required 10 system points to unlock it he smiled wryly.

However, he heard a new notification.

[DING]

[5 system points awarded]

[Special Quest - Master any rank 01 combat technique]

[Reward - 10 system points]

Darell widened his eyes as he saw the notification.

'Thank you, system'

He quickly opened the combat section and scrolled through it.

He stopped at a particular technique.

[ Combat Technique - Reaper Fist ]

[ Description - Consumes 50 Mana per use. Upon complete mastery, the user can break down whole buildings by throwing a single fist.]

'Wow, this technique is too good for a rank 01 combat technique.'

He quickly purchased it. He felt a weird surge of information flowing into his brain. He could now perform the technique as easily as breathing.

He quickly purchased the [ Conceal ] skill and adjusted his stats all to 50. 

 

He got up from his bed and went to the dining hall where his family members were waiting. He sat down and the maids served the dishes.

He glanced at Lilith who was happily gulping down the food being served.

He smiled and ate his food. After finishing breakfast, he went to the training ground and started practicing the combat technique.  

During his training, he heard a new notification.

[DING]

[Special Quest - Achieve Sword Mastery]

[Time limit - 15 days]

[Reward - 50 system points]

Darell grinned and started practicing his sword.

During the first 15 days, Darrell would train the Reaper Fist and the sword.

Lilith would join him and they both would practice their swordsmanship together.

Lilith first mastered swordsmanship and created her combat technique which she called 'Sword Dance of Mist Empress'.

Darrell completed the quest and got 50 system points.

He bought a rank 01 sword combat technique called ' Earth - Shattering Slash'.

He also bought four rank 01 skills.

 

[ Sense ]

[Description - This skill allows the user to sense any person who has been revealing his killing intent ]

[ The area depends on the user's mana.

 1 MP = 1 meter]

[ Final Blow ]

[Description - The user will only reveal his killing intent upon delivering his killing blow. His killing intent will not be revealed.]

[ Death's touch ]

[Description - This skill allows the user to finish his opponent by a blow that will be equal to 200% strength of the user's strength stat. This skill will consume half of the user's mana.]

For the next 15 days, Darell and Lilith sneaked off to the Forest Of Fyn to train.

Darell didn't focus too much on leveling up as he wanted to get familiar with his new combat techniques and his new skills.

Lilith didn't ask too many questions about his new skills as she knew he obtained them from the system.

Also, she didn't feel jealous as she obtained several rank 02 Ice and Wind spells.

On the last day, they decided to rest and stop their training until they enter the Academy.

During these days, a letter was delivered to Ralph inviting Lilith to the Royal Varona Academy where they will hold a special test for her.

Being the first person in the entire history of the world to have a rank 02 ability as innate ability, they would directly accept her as a student but it would invite fierce protest from the students and the noble families.

So, they wanted to hold this test as a formality.

Right now, the whole family was having dinner. Tomorrow, both Lilith and Darrell would set to the Royal Capital where Varona Royal Academy was located in.

Ralph was reminding them of their responsibilities and the dangers they would face in the academy.

Isabella didn't say much but she gave them a quick reminder of the noble families they should stay away from as it would invite trouble if they got entangled among them.

While Lilith was listening attentively to them Darell was thinking of something else.

"Umm....how did you meet Dad? he asked Isabella.

Ralph and Isabella widened their eyes and after a few seconds, they laughed out loud.

Isabella wiped the tears from her eyes and said 

" Your father and I were in the academy together with some friends. We had our differences at first but we found love in the end and got married."

 "Who were your friends?" Darell asked.

Isabella and Ralph had grim expressions as they recalled their friends.

Ralph spoke " We had two friends. One was Rick who...died during a mission he was sent in and the other...."

Ralph had a complicated expression as he failed to continue speaking.

"Who was the other one?" he asked.

Isabella sighed and said, " The other was Anna, she...she had a complicated personal life."

Isabella recalled past incidents and shook her head.

"What happened to her? " Darell asked.

Ralph and Isabella couldn't continue but she said " Anna left the Academy during the second year as she had some family problems."

Darrell noticed their grim expressions and didn't inquire further.

After dinner, he went to his room and started packing his clothes and stuff. After he finished packing his belongings, he went to sleep.

On the next day, he woke up and took a bath, and changed into a new set of clothes.

He took his belongings and walked toward the carriage that was waiting in front of the mansion gates.

Both Lilith and he boarded the carriage and waved goodbye to their parents.

As he looked out of the carriage, he spoke " We are finally going to step into the real world."
