Memories

I was sitting in the library a few days after the meeting with Xavier when Eve appeared before me. “Eve? What is it?” She looked worried so I asked. “My lady, Ms. Marianne told me to tell you that there’s someone that’s going to visit soon,” Even replied, still looking alert.

“Alright, but what does that have to do with me? And why has Marianne not come herself instead of you?”  What is she so worried about and why isn’t Marianne here?

“The nobles that will arrive don’t favour Marianne... Something had happened in the past so...she always goes back to her home once she hears news of their arrival,” Eve explains.

I don’t think Astelle really noticed since she didn’t care at all back then, and I can’t recall anything from her memories so that probably proves the point even more.

“Then who is it? And I’m assuming you will be preparing me for their visit then?” She nodded to the second question, and she replied to the first, “It is the Calypso family...they’re arriving for dinner,”

Calypso...Seriously? It hasn’t even been a week since I met Xavier, now another male lead? Elliot Calypso. Man, this world truly does hate me.

“Ah, yes, of course.” Thank God for Astelle’s monotonous voice, no matter how fucked up in the head you are, you’ll always sound calm.

I’ve started cursing again, haven’t I?

“I’ll finish my studies and then you can help me get prepared, is that alright?” I know I shouldn’t ask because she’ll say yes regardless.

As a good maid, she nodded and waited for me until I was done and took my books to their location and then we headed off to my room.

Yet again, I was bathed and then applied lotion with scented oils and same treatment with my hair.

I wore a dress with a length just a little bit above my knees, it had a black skirt and the bodice a white lace and a high collar of the same material and colour as the bodice.

Eve kept my hair in a bun with some strands sticking out to make it look pretty, I guess. And topped it off with a white diamond hair clip.

As always, I look gorgeous. Eve seemed much happier as she looked proud at how she made me look, she was adorable, still too young to be a maid. I thanked her and she retorted with, “I should be thanking my lady because my lady is always beautiful,” she huffed proudly.

I smiled slightly at the youth she presented. I didn’t talk with Eve as much as I did with Marianne, yet both are still so cheerful.

Yet again, I question why Astelle never spoke to them or vice versa. Ah? A memory? At this time...

Memories of Elliot? There’s so many...

Astelle was close to Elliot? The novel had mentioned no such thing, as far as readers could tell, he ignored her. I wonder...

Most of the memories are happy. Astelle was happy with Elliot... then what happened? Why am I not getting it? The memory...it’s blurry, is this Astelle’s doing...?

I got lost in thought as this mystery occurred. Eve grew worried at the frown upon my face. “M-my lady?” Eve stuttered out to get my attention. I get kicked out of my mind, “Ah, sorry, I got lost in thought again, didn’t I?” Eve nodded, “It’s alright my lady, I wanted to say that it’s time to go, you must be taken to the silver room.”

Silver room is a fancy way of saying the guest living room that is silver. There are other colour rooms, typical rich people things.

I’m rich now but I was a peasant so I can still say this, I nodded and headed out of my room. There are still a few hours to dinner however, so I don’t know why I’m heading out now.

I was about to ask but then I had already reached the room. Eh, maybe the other family was hungry. They’re nobility so they shouldn’t be... I can’t really say though.

“Here you are, my lady, please excuse me,” Eve bowed and left. I stood in front of the intricately sliver designed door. The hallway itself had silver decorations and details.

Alright then, time to see them. I held my arm out to open the door.
