Chapter 4: Entering the forest

At the south gate of his village which actually looked like it would collapse at any given moment with a strong enough punch, extending from both sides of the of it was a wall that covered the whole village like a circle with few guards scattered above it while having 10 or so meters between each guard, but it was only 3 meters in height, Mike wasn't that surprised since this is only a little village and the closest town is a few days traveling north if using a carriage. 

Mike who almost closed upon the gate was Thinking on how he should go about using Jessica to farm some magical beasts while acting like he was there for wood. 

After all getting Jessica to clear out the area is not hard since she will have to do that so he can gather wood which the bigger portion will go to them anyway, and at the same time clearing the area for the time when they attack him so nothing unexpected happens.

 

But the problem was never in that, the main issue now is how can I get the experience from the monsters while Jessica is not aware, or how to come with an excuse on what happens if I suddenly attack the beast instead of gathering wood in peace, and she notices my actions. 

The two lackeys of Bell won't disturb me while cutting trees and gathering wood at first, so i should probably stall for time till Im confident in running away or taking them down after defecting my sister somehow. 

The moment Mike stepped out of the gate , he was actually a little taken aback by the forest in front, it looked nothing like how a forest should look like from his past world. 

This seems more like the movie i watched where the main story took a place in a forest, and the trees were all so tall that u can't even see where they stop, and the problem was even if someone try's to climb them to the top he won't even know how he died.

Well looking at this forest that looked a bit similar to that, I actually feel a little excited but afraid at the same time after all the risk is a little high if I wanna kill those 3. 

The trees were all arround 10 to 20 meters tall and few meters in width from the get go of the forest, so no need to think about how are they gonna be if I go deep inside. Well I won't be going that deep today anyway so who cares. 

But my excitement is actually having the upper hand over my fear here. And that's cause from the memories I obtained the monsters at the periphery of the forest were some low level magical beasts that only contains few tier 1 and the rest are all lower, well even I expected this without needing the memories information, because the village would have never lasted this long if tier 2 + monsters were to roam arround their gate, but i can't even fight low level monsters at the moment so much less tier 1 magical beasts. 

" Time to start the fun and see how much can I benefit from my first little fights, ah I really hope the system isn't so stingy with expericne and stats addition or else I might not be able to return to this village alive, even though I'm excited I should first focus on survivng and trying the best to gain some experience out of Jessica kills " Mike thought before stepping into the forest with a calm expression acting like the people following him weren't even there.

But Mike was always calm and not rush in doing things and that's how he could still maintain his state of mind even though the chances of his plan failing is high. 

The reason Mike don't wanna simply leave the village and adventure alone in the forest yet is for few reasons. 

The first one is getting stronger in a safe environment for some time and then heading out a little prepared and not blindly experiencing things without strength or knowledge. 

After all the memories that he got are only what this guy knew about this little forest ahead but not deeper and no important information where given to him from his father about about magical beasts, mages, warriors or even how to advance, the system only provided the basics for cultivating which is used in advancing from tier 0 to tier 1 but after all he is like a blind man walking.

 

The second and most important reason is to steal his family treasury since it's better than the Bardo one for sure. 

However the only obstacle in that, is his tier 1 father. Cause he is in the middle of tier 1 and close to the late part of it, so things might be so risky if he is not strong enough or don't get a good plan for that. 

But if my plans doesn't work, then I'll simply go steal a weapon from the blacksmith and hunt in the forest arround the village and then comeback to get the books and clean few other things. 

Or simply go adventuring alone and level up while moving between towns and cities, well I'll see what to do after today's events play out. 

Seeing Mike stepping into the forest with that calm expression of his without even bothering to take a second glance at them, John and Sezar wore angry expressions. 

After all, the only reason those 2 took this job to beat Mike up everytime, from fiddle the guard despite how easy it was, is mainly cause they love to see the looks on those people that are in pain and pleading them for mercy looks like , the more they do so the more happy and full they feel. 

So seeing the calm expression of Mike while heading into the forest instead of a worried one, made them both wanna teach him a special lesson this time so they can put that little anger they felt at bay .

Taking this job which is basically time consuming and not getting what they came here for instead of cultivating. Is a big loose for them and they don't wanna feel like they wasted their time, so they better get some extra fun when they are at it to make up for it. 

"John let's head inside already so we don't miss anything, after all even seeing him working hard for almost no gains makes me feel better ahhahhaha" said Sezar failing to control his laugh and inviting many curious gazes towards them. 

"Upon seeing how eager his partner is in doing this job fully without wasting any good shows, John felt a little warm inside, because of how Sezar liked those kind of things like he did" John thought .

 So without further talking he instantly followed behind the duo and entered the forest, and it's actually better to go in and not waste time here so we don't look suspicious in the eyes of the guards. 

After all even though they are following young masters Bell orders, the guards which are under the village head still have more authority than the Bardo family and that's cause the village head is already a tier 2 warrior. 

So even if Tom the head of the Bardo family is a mage at the late stages of tier 1 closing on tier 2, he is still no much for a tier 2 warrior since the gap is really big between the tiers. 

"Are you still going deeper inside? Why don't you simply cut some wood from here, it's way safer and without further waste of time in this usless job of yours, that it's only use is to provide a little warmth at night and some small bronze coins if we sold the wood "Jessica Suddenly said while not forgetting to hold him from his wrist, for some mental pressure. 

Mike thought a little irritated inside 'this little bitch can't even let me execute my plan in peace even though she doesn't know that I even have a plan'. 

However on the surface he smiled saying" Come on little sister , you know that the wood here is no good and all the good quality is a little deeper inside, it's not like the first time I do this after all so bear with it for now haha". 

The moment he finished speaking, Jessica seemed to be thinking about something but after few moments, she still decided to let go of his wrist and go a little deeper. 

After all it makes no difference to her whether here or a little deeper but she just didn't wanna waste time instead of cultivating and most importantly this is so boring. 

So while indeed she liked seeing her brother on the dirt getting kicked by Bell subordinates she still prefers to get stronger. 

But the moment she thought about Bell, his handsome face appeared in front of her and she couldn't help but blush and turn red, after all he was both handsome and strong. Worthy of being her man. And she can as well tell him about the pathetic site of her brother in the dirt and have a laugh with him like always, so it's not so bad. 

Upon seeing the action of Jessica, Mike heaved a sigh of relief. He still didn't even start gaining experience and his plan almost failed. 

"Plans really can always go south at any giving moment, I should as fast as possible find some trees nearing some beasts or my plans for the whole village will go to waste if everyday I don't gain anything" Mike thought, while pondering about what his next actions gonna be if he didn't get what he came here for. Which is expericne and his sisters head if possible.

 

It's true that she's stronger than him, but that doesn't mean it will stay the same if he gains more levels, be it today, tomorrow or even after tomorrow, her death is inevitable anyway.

 

Because his other plan except the one about exterminating his family for the treasury and leave the village after getting the spoils of war, is simply to keep his position as the heir of his family, and he can't keep that position it his sister is alive, because she's gonna get married to the Bardo family and she's stronger than him anyway. 

And even if he got stronger, his parents will still prefer a marriage to the Bardo family and connecting the both families together. 

And the only way Jesse (Mike's father) can achieve that is through giving the family to his daughter and letting the Bardo family take care of them. Cause Jesse is honestly tired and can't keep the family running since his finances are almost drained, so he thought of that simple solution. 

After all he doesn't wanna be a subordinate for the Bardo family and giving his life for them, using his daughter so the Bardo family can take it easy on them while annexing them can be beneficial for both sides. 

Thinking up to this moment, Mike first looked ahead a little puzzled, after all they did walk for some time and yet he saw no monsters and only trees, plans and an environment full of poisonous insects. 

But after thinking about it for few moments he knew that they will soon start meeting beasts so he started walking again. the brother and sister duo started heading deeper into the forest while being followed by John and Sezar.
