The following is a collection of Letters to the High Priestess From an Inquisitorial officer, given to me by my subordinate.

To Commander Ban, Knights of Ada

On my most recent mission I have come across these interesting letters. It would appear they are from some unnamed (that is to say their name has been redacted) Inquisitor to the former High Priestess elect. These documents were meant to be destroyed, but I have found them too fascinating to let that happen. I have transcribed what I can from them, and have kept the original copies for myself in a safe place. It would seem these letters date back about twenty nine years, so it is my hope that one day they may be published to offer insight into the incident involving the ‘so called Witch Queen’. I hope that you find these as fascinating as I did, and that they offer you some sort of entertainment over your upcoming long trip. The letters have been damaged, partly due to the passage of time, though I speculate that there may be some intentional tampering done. As I said, these letters were meant to be disposed. I managed to save eight in total. The earliest dated as 1827, which does collaborate with accounts of the rumors of the ‘so called Witch Queen’ appearance. I have done my best to fill in the missing words based on context where necessary, I hope I have done their words justice, as I would like as accurate account as possible. When necessary I will provide notes to key you into the context used, though I am sure there are many that you too would come to understand. Perhaps one day these letters could be included in our own teachings as a part of some scripture of sorts. Though I suppose that is just fanciful dreaming on my part. Nonetheless, I pray the Goddess’ beauty shines upon you, and brings you insight and wisdom.

-Lieutenant Ashlana, Knights of Ada

---First letter---

13th day of the 9th month, 1827

To the High Priestess elect,

As per your orders, I have begun to infiltrate the crowds surrounding this ‘so called Witch [QUEEN]’. Evidence of her true nature, whether she is truly the originator of the [MALICE]1, and if the rumors of her powers are true, has thus far eluded me. All is not lost, however, as I have seemed to gain favor with a follower who appears to be close to the wanderer they are calling a [PROPHET]2. A man named [JACOB]3, brother to Inquisitor Salem, has been in close contact with this false prophet, and very well can be my way into their inner circle. As of now, I have heard the ramblings of our former prisoner, and they are as delusional as was claimed. It still eludes me how he escaped our prison. Regardless, I will do all that I can to earn their trust. If this woman truly is a threat to the [CHURCH], I shall discover her intentions, and halt any uprising she may lead. When I have made progress I shall contact you again. Until then, may the Goddess shine on both of us.

- Inquisitor [Redacted]

1: The context for this claim is based on the origins given by the church, I am sure that you too would have come to the conclusion this was what had been said here.

2: In those days there was a man wandering the Wastes of the first circle, claiming to speak for the Goddess, he was arrested by the church and brought back to the ninth circle. It is reported he escaped, and continued his teachings in the Wastes.

3: I believe that the inquisitor Salem she mentions is in fact ‘that’ Salem, who was reported to have a brother that through my research was called Jacob.

---Second Letter---

29th day of the 11th month, 1827

To the High Priestess elect,

I have spoken with the [PROPHET], it would appear his name is Vox, and he is as delusional as they say. He claims to be from another [WORLD]1, and that the Goddess has led him here to aid in spreading her [MESSAGE] of love. What’s worrisome is that there are those who believe him, either in part, or wholly. Regardless of his lunacy, I have managed to gain some semblance of trust with him, thanks in no small part to the man named [JACOB]. He has told me of his time in captivity, how he was older then(?)2 and how you would not recognize him now. It is true, this man is much younger than the one that had been previously captured. I believe he is actually his disciple, though he claims to be the same [MAN]. He even has gone as far as to tell me that [YOU]3 were the one who set him free. I am unsure how much longer I will be able to tolerate this man’s ramblings. Though I must admit, his stories of the [GODDESS’] love do paint a lovely picture. If it weren’t for his apparent madness, there would be some strange comfort to be found in his teachings. I believe that is of course why so many flock to him, and by extension the ‘so called [WITCH QUEEN]’ whom he clearly believes to be [A PROPHETESS]4. I have yet to come into contact with her, I don’t even know where she is. This Vox person claims she is waiting until the right time before she [ACTS]5. Though, his words do not seem to hint at a violent uprising, still they are concerning. My contact with the prophet, Jacob, has been housing me at his ranch. It is dilapidated, and hardly deserves to be called a ranch, but it has served well for a base for now. I hope to meet this [WOMAN/WITCH]6 soon, so I may give you a more significant report and return to the Abbey… Until then, may the Goddess’ light shine upon us both.

- Inquisitor [Redacted]

1: From other reports I have seen, one of the many heresies that the wandering prophet Vox was accused of included the delusions of other worlds.

2: I’m just as confused by this as the writer was, though her conclusion makes sense. I don’t know though, what if he really was from another world? It could be possible that age works differently for some one like that. Though perhaps I shouldn’t say things like that.

3: It would seem that outside of a three letter name, this is the only word that fits. To be quite honest I don’t know. However it would make sense, who else would have had access to such a high security prisoner than the high priestess elect herself? Still I would rather not go on record besmirching her late holiness’ name.

4: Honestly, a prophetess doesn’t actually fit here, the word did however end with ‘ess’ and I am unsure what else it could be. Perhaps you would have better insight than I.

5: Being at the end of the paragraph in the original letter, I can’t actually tell how much space there was here. Acts seemed the most likely word, though it could have been anything.

6: I suppose either word fits, I leave it for you to decide which it was.

Some further notes I have concerning these couple of letters. The mission the writer speaks of was never on record, though that is not uncommon. I know you told me you are going on extended leave, but I know better than that. It would seem the church has always, and still remains, secretive about it’s operations. In regards to the ‘so called Witch Queen’, I have heard many stories, and all seem to change the narrative based wholly on affiliation, whether it be with the Church or with the witches. It is for that reason why I find these letters so fascinating. Here we are going to be given an account of the Witch Queen(so called) from a member of the church who’s agency may not be what we expect. As you continue to read these letters, I hope you gain some insight that may very well aid you on your path in glorifying the Goddess.
