Chapter 4: Ch 4. Persistence

"Kuh… Where I am?"

Glade slowly opened his eyes and found himself in a very unfamiliar place. He was lying on a soft grass and soft wind was blowing on him. He stood up and saw that he was in the outskirts of some forest.

"I remember getting into the gate, but after that…."

Glade could not remember what happened after he entered in to Gate. Then he looked up only to found that sky was changing at a constant speed.

"The sky is changing? Isn't this mean the place where I am is constantly moving?"

To clear his doubts, Glade ran on the opposite direction from the forest. After two hours, he found himself on the edge. He peeked and found a sea of clouds! It means the mountain where he currently was floating above the surface and was moving constantly.

"Shit! Where I am? Looks like I must go into the forest for more information."

Glade turned back and returned to his place where he was sleeping hours ago. This time, with a bit of caution, he entered the forest.

The trees of the forest were too green. Too green means everything is green. The trunks of the forest are also green. The mosses covered most part of the forest. The trunks, on the ground, the mosses have fully flourished throughout the forest.

"Mosses are all over the forest. It means people don't come here often. And the trees are overgrown here. If the forest is not used, then there is no village near it."

Glade entered forest and walked deep enough. After walking for an hour, he didn't find any footprints of any dangerous animal. Most of the footprints were from a rabbit or some other small animal. But then he saw glitter trail in air.

Glade at first picked up a stick to arm himself, but after a while he didn't find anybody's presence. He slowly followed the trail. From left to right, he followed the trail perfectly. It was only way to gather his current status.

He didn't know where he is. And if he can't find the way to go down to the surface, then he might stuck on this floating mountain forever.

He followed the trail, and for it's been 3 days. In night, with the help of his knowledge, he somehow made a tent with the help of big leaves to sleep. Some edibles plants, such as mushroom and other natural growing edibles helped him from hunger. The must helpful thing was that there enough water sources in this forest. But what shocked him was the purity of water. The water was perfect. No need to filter to sort out germs. With all facilities available, and nothing to do, he followed the trail.

"Is this trail really leads to somewhere? I can't even judge the directions. My customized glasses doesn't even turn on. Am I going to stuck here for ever?"

Most 2 days passed. Glade who followed the path started to doubt. After who would believe something in an unfamiliar place. But he grits and once remembered his reason for coming here.

"I can't afford to stay here. I have to find Blossom."

Glade with his unwavering mind, followed the path. Slowly, days stated to begin and end.

"Today is 35th day I came here. And still there no end. But if I give up, then I will lose my…"

Glade still persisted and moved forward. With having no one was making his insane. But he was still keeping his mind on track by reminding himself about his purpose.

1 year passed. 2 years passed. 7 years passed. Glade gradually forgot his name.

"Blossom… Blossom…"

With constantly murmuring the same name, he moved forward. Slowly time passed. More years passed. It's been 10 years since he crossed over. But what he did was nothing amazing. He just walked the path left by the glittery trail. Slowly somehow his eyes, started to see more trails.

In the air, he saw numerous colourful trails. The blue coloured sky, was now full of different colours. It was beautiful sight to see. Glade followed the most bright and cheerful colour trail.

More 5 years passed. He was walking slowly. But the hope to find his destination was still on his mind. All his clothes were in tatters. He was very malnourished because of only mushrooms.

More 5 years passed. He trails were getting clearer. He was able to sense them more clearly. After that he continued to follow the brightest one.

More 7 years passed. Glade was no more different from a skeleton. What was making him live was his will. Slowly he started to listen the trails. He started to feel the warmth from the trail on the air. All small particles in the trail were gathering around him.

Slowly more 5 years passed. Then he found a place with enormous amount of the colourful particles. His sensing power was so much enhanced that he was clearly distinct among them. With his remaining strength, he ran towards the place.

Then he saw a very beautiful city. A city full of houses. And a long place was in the middle of city.

"I found it. I found it! A settlement!"

Glade started to cry. Being alone is scarier than anything. Unless people experience themselves, they won't know it. Then all his fatigue came to his body at one.

He tried to stand but he couldn't. He fell on ground. He tried to stay awake but to his body didn't listen to him.

"Is it over for me…?"

Slowly his eyes were closing off. Thinking that he couldn't find Blossom, small tears started to come from his eyes. Then he saw a girl with silver hair curiously looking him with a smile.

"You…."

Glade couldn't say anything and fainted on the spot. The silver haired girl smiled and then snapped her fingers. More four people came to her side. But something was different about them. Yes, both girl and people around her had transparent butterfly wings!

"Take him to palace's medical centre. After his recovery, bring him to me." The silver hair girl ordered to the rest of them.

"Yes, your majesty!" All four of them picked him up and returned to palace.

"To think a human would persist this much. I've been watching him from the start. I thought he would give up but to think he… It is really interesting. After all, it's been more than millenium to have a human visit here in the Country of White Fairies – Gloria. I am looking forward to meeting you, human!"
