Crow and Adora were battling fiercely.

Their figures flickered constantly as they moved at great speed, trading several blows every second.

While Adora clad her knife with wind to make it faster and sharper, Crow used his fists skillfully, blocking every one of Adora’s attacks and counterattacking precisely.

As the two of them continued fighting, it became more and more obvious that Crow was at an advantage.

But despite that, his expression was ugly.

He had grown up in the slums, where danger was something of every day, until becoming a gang boss with several subordinates under him, and a big part of that was due to his sharp instinct for danger.

More than once, that instinct had saved his life. And now, it was screaming at him that he was in danger.

Every second that passed, the feeling of danger became greater and greater, as though a beast was standing behind him, waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill him.

‘Is it that man?’ Crow glanced at the unknown man fighting his subordinate.

He did not know who that man was, or why he was helping Adora, but he was sure that he was the source of his unease.

‘But he is losing and he did not seem that strong. Could it be that I’m mistaken? Is there another source of danger?’

Crow was confused, but the growing sense of danger made him sure that something was wrong.

He wanted to escape, but Adora’s bloodline made it very hard. Even though Adora was weaker than him, she was a slight bit faster, and her constant attacks forced him to continue fighting regardless of his will.

Perhaps he could escape if he ignored Adora and focused only on running away, but that meant ending up seriously injured. As a gang boss in the slums, being seriously injured was the perfect recipe for sudden death.

At that moment, Adora attacked again, using her wind-infused knife to execute several slashes in quick succession. Crow evaded some of them and stopped some of them with his mana-coated fists, but just then, he heard a grunt of pain coming from the other battle.

‘That was…’

Crow hurriedly looked in the direction of the battle between Vlad and his subordinate, only to see Vlad piercing his sword through his subordinate’s back.

Then, he saw Vlad look in his direction and smile as his figure blended into the surrounding darkness.

Crow’s expression became much uglier.

‘Shit! Stealth!’

He recognized that bloodline. That belonged to one of his subordinates!

If a stealth user able to kill one of his subordinates attacked him together with Adora, he would definitively die.

‘This is bad…!’

He did not hesitate anymore. If he did not escape, today was going to be his death anniversary.

Adora attacked again at that moment. Just like Crow, she had seen the result of Vlad’s battle, so she knew that this was the decisive moment.

She surrounded her body with wind, making her speed twice as fast as before as she lunged toward Crow.

The swift attack reached Crow in an instant. Crow crossed his arms to defend against it, but the wind-infused knife broke through the layer of mana around his arms and pierce his flesh.

Adora was startled. Crow should be able to defend against that level of attack.

But in the next instant, she saw Crow roar as he opened his arms violently.

“Get lost!” He put an enormous amount of mana into that attack, blowing Adora away.

Then, he ignored his injuries and kicked the ground, rushing toward a nearby street.

He had traded an injury for a chance to escape

Just then, Crow felt a chill on his spine.

With no hesitation, he rolled aside, barely avoiding Vlad's sword that appeared suddenly at his right.

“So fast!”

Crow stood up immediately, swapping away a knife that Vlad had thrown in his direction, and tried to escape again. But Adora appeared in front of him this time, her knife going for his neck.

“Bitch!” Crow cursed wrathfully and leaned his body aside to avoid the attack, but Vlad’s sword came from the opposite direction, almost slicing his neck.

Crow's back was filled with cold sweat. If he was just a bit slower just now, he would have died.

Before he could breathe a sigh of relief, Vlad attacked again. This time, the sword attack came from behind Crow. Crow turned around and leaned his body to the right to barely avoid the strike, but as result, Adora’s knife hit him, leaving a cut on his right shoulder.

The pain in his shoulder made Crow’s eyes turn bloodshot. Seeing that Vlad and Adora were attacking again, he let out a bellow.

“Stop!”

At that moment, his eyes glowed brightly.

At the same time, Crow felt time around him becoming slower.

This was Crow’s trump card and bloodline, [Hunter Eyes].

At the cost of overtaxing his eyes, body, and mana, he could perceive the world around him in a slowed state for a couple of seconds. But after that, he would fall into a weakened state.

This double-edged sword-like ability was something that he only used in the most extreme situations in hopes of saving his life, just like now.

In the slowed time, he saw Vlad’s sword and Adora’s knife about to reach him. He then forced his body to avoid the attacks and threw a punch toward Vlad and Adora's chests.

Crow could see their eyes opening wide; and then, time resumed its normal course.

Both Vlad and Adora were blown away by Crow’s fists. Crow, on the other hand, vomited a mouthful of blood as his body screamed in pain.

But he ignored it and ran off.

He knew that his previous attack had not injured his enemies gravely. At most, it had bought him a few seconds of time.

He needed to escape before they recovered.

But at that moment, he felt a chill on his spine.

Without thinking, he threw his body to the ground, only to feel a knife piercing the place above him just an instant later.

If he would have hesitated, that knife would have created a hole in his neck.

Turning around stiffly, he saw Vlad standing up while holding his sword in his right hand.

Vlad’s blood-red eyes made Crow turn pale. He felt as though he was not facing a human, but a demon.

Then, Vlad kicked the ground and charged toward him.
