Vlad rushed toward Crow, his body leaning against the ground as he swung his sword in an upward slash.
His attack was fast, strong, and accurate. The sword went straight for Crow’s waist, aiming to bisect him in a blow.
But Crow was, at the end of the day, a core-formation practitioner.
“Uoooo!!!”
When Vlad’s sword was about to reach him, he raised his arms in front of him, using them to receive the attack.
*Swoosh!*
The sharp edge of the sword cut easily through Crow’s flesh, severing his left hand, and a third of his right wrist too.
But he managed to stop Vlad’s sword.
Making use of Vlad’s attack, he kicked the ground and launched himself backward.
His only goal was to create as much distance as he could from Vlad. He needed to escape, no matter what.
He rushed toward the exit of the alley and rushed in the direction of the tavern. He only needed to run a bit over three hundred meters and he would arrive at his tavern, where his men could protect him.
Just a bit more.
But Vlad was not planning to let him escape.
His right foot stomped on the ground, breaking it as he launched his body toward Crow.
His red eyes gleamed eerily in the darkness, leaving two blood-like trails in the air as he pounced on his prey.
Right now, he was a hunter. His senses had become so sharp that he could even feel the breath of the people hidden in the nearby houses, holding their breaths in fear as they waited for the commotion to end.
In just an instant, he reached Crow.
But at that moment, a group of people appeared from a corner.
“Boss, I brought reinforcements!”
It was the young men that ran away when Vlad and Adora attacked! He had come back with reinforcements!
‘Shit! Already!?’ Vlad cursed in his mind. He had expected this development, but it occurred faster than he expected.
But it did not matter. He was so close to killing Crow that he did not plan to give up now. Without hesitating, he slashed toward Crow while ignoring the newcomers.
But Crow also reacted at the same time.
“Protect me!” While shouting, he pulled one of the men with his remaining hand and throw him in Vlad’s direction.
*Swish!* Vlad’s sword cut cleanly through his body, cutting him into two, but it bought Crow a couple of seconds.
The rain of blood from the body of their companion startled the newcomers. They froze in surprise as Crow rushed past them, throwing another two men in Vlad’s direction.
Vlad clicked his tongue and swung his sword in an S-shape, instantly cutting three men into pieces and creating a path toward Crow.
But when he was about to follow after him, a young man grabbed his cloak.
“S-Stop!”
It was the young man that brought the reinforcements.
His eyes were filled with fear, and his voice was trembling, but despite that, he grabbed Vlad’s clothes with all his strength.
Vlad’s red eyes stared straight into the eyes of the young man. For an instant, he saw himself reflected in these eyes.
The fear in the young man’s eyes was the same fear he felt when his family was murdered.
But in the next instant–
*Slash!*

His sword cut the head of the young man.
There was no hesitation in his hands. He had already made up his determination the day he woke up as a vampire.
He was going to avenge his family, no matter what happened.
Thus, he killed the young man.
And seeing that two other men were intent on stopping him, he cut them down too.
But when Vlad searched for Crow with his eyes, he saw that Crow was about to turn on a corner fifty meters away.
He was about to escape!
But at that instant, Adora appeared.
She fell from a roof, her knife cutting down Crow’s back.
“Ugh…!” Crow groaned in pain. He tried to continue running, but Adora swung her knife again, leaving a deep cut on his waist.
One step, two steps, three steps.
Finally, Crow fell to the ground.
“N-No…!”
He vomited a mouthful of blood and groaned weakly while trying to use his remaining hand to drag himself away.
Adora looked at that scene indifferently and raised her knife.
“You should have not made me your enemy.”
With these words, she swung her knife down.
But–
*Clang!*
Something stopped it from piercing Crow.
Adora’s eyes shrunk. A feeling of danger so huge that it seemed overwhelming filled her, shouting to her that she needed to run!
Someone was coming! Someone so strong that she and Vlad would not be able to face him!
Vlad felt the same. He felt the hairs of his body standing up and his blood flowing faster, as though warning him that if he did not run now, he would stay here forever.
Without hesitating, the two of them came to the same decision.
Escape!
They did not care that they were just one blow away from killing Crow. Both of them knew that killing him now was almost impossible.
Turning around, the two of them ran away according to the route they had planned beforehand.
In less than one second, they had disappeared from the scene, using the darkness of the night to cover their tracks.
And three seconds later, a new figure appeared.
“They escaped, huh.”
The figure muttered in disappointment before looking at the gravely injured Crow.
“Well, at the very least I managed to save the man.”
