A few seconds later, two more people arrived at the scene.
Surprisingly, it was the young man Vlad saw in the dilapidated building and his two bodyguards.
“Young master.” The first bodyguard bowed slightly. “Sorry, the two assailants escaped.”
“Is it so? Well, it doesn’t matter. At the very least, we saved him.”
“But is it really necessary?” The bodyguard asked.
“He is one of Karina’s men. I don’t care if he lives or dies, but saving him will leave a good impression on Karina, so why not?”
The bodyguard nodded and stopped asking.
“I’m curious about the assailants, though. You told me that they were not core-formation practitioners, right? To think that two core-accumulation practitioners managed to kill two core-accumulation practitioners and almost kill a core-formation practitioner. I’m a bit interested in them.”
The bodyguard hummed in agreement.
In fact, he was just as interested as his young master.
A couple of minutes ago, the three of them had felt the mana fluctuations of the battle. At first, they did not pay it much attention, but he and his companion decided to extend their senses in the direction of the battle just in case it was a threat to their young master.
To their surprise, they detected the mana of Crow, who they had seen in the dilapidated building. T
hey then told their young master, who took the initiative to interfere.
It must be said that Vlad and Adora were really unlucky. The reason they failed was not that their plan was flawed, but that an uncontrollable variable appeared at the end.
“Send him to a doctor and keep an eye on him.” The young master instructed one of his bodyguards. “I want him to give me the information on the two assailants when he wakes up.”
“Understood.”
“Young master, what about them?” The second bodyguard pointed to the men that came to help Crow.
Although several of them had been killed by Vlad, a couple of them were still alive.
They were pale in shock and fear, staring at the young man and his bodyguards nervously, unsure if they were friends or foes.
The young master thought for a moment and walked toward one of them.
“You. Did you see the people that attacked your boss?”
The man nodded nervously.
“I-I did. E-Everything happened very fast, so I-I did not m-manage to see them clearly, b-but I recognized one of them.”
“Mm? Name him.”
“I-It was a girl. Adora... I know where she lives.”
“Great. Bring me to her.”
“Y-Yes!”
…
At the same time, Vlad and Adora came to a stop almost one kilometer away.
The two of them looked at each other with furrowed brows.
“What happened? Who did interfere?” Adora asked, barely suppressing her rage.
Vlad let out a small sigh.
“It was the bodyguard of the young man we saw in the dilapidated building.”
Adora was startled. “Are you sure?”

Vlad nodded. “Yes. I caught a whiff of his scent. I’m sure it was him.”
“But, why did he interfere?”
“I don’t know.”
Adora clicked her tongue in a bad mood.
Crow was already in their grasp. Just a bit more and they could kill him. However, he was saved at the last second.
It was no wonder that she was in a bad mood.
“What is your plan now?” Vlad asked.
“Now that Crow survived, he won’t rest until he kills us, so I need to hide. I plan to bring my sister to a hideout I prepared a while ago and wait until things calm down.”
“You know that is not a long-term solution, right?”
“I know. But what can I do? Crow is not an idiot. He won’t give us another chance like this easily.”
Vlad fell silent, deep in thought.
Adora glanced at him and sighed.
“… Sorry, you are in this because of me.”
“Mm? What are you talking about? My decision to kill him has nothing to do with you. Don’t worry.”
“Even so… If I would have killed him faster.”
“Stop, Miss Adora. Nobody could have expected someone that powerful to come and save Crow. You are not at fault there.”
Adora bit her lips and nodded.
“I know.”
“Let’s talk about that later. For now, let’s go to your house and take Laura away. It will be bad if Crow’s men reach her first.”
Adora nodded.
The pair hurried toward Adora and Laura’s house. The way there was uneventful, with the streets of the slums empty in the darkness of the night, but Vlad and Adora knew that this would not last for long.
Soon, Crow’s men would fill the streets searching for the assailants, and their first destination will be Adora’s house.
Less than two minutes later, the two of them arrived at Adora’s house.
But at that moment, Vlad’s furrowed his brows. At the same time, Adora’s expression changed.
“Laura!” She shouted and rushed inside, almost breaking down the door.
Vlad followed after her with a grave expression. As soon as he entered the house, he saw Laura lying down unconscious on the living room floor.
“Laura! Are you alright!? Laura!” Adora kneeled on the floor and called at her anxiously. She pulled her little sister in her arms and tried to wake her up.
But Laura did not wake up. She was completely unconscious, and her breathing was very weak.
Vlad could feel that she was dying.
‘As expected…’ Vlad understood everything at that moment.
Why Adora was so desperate for a powerful life-replenishing pill, to the point that she did not hesitate to go to the South Crow Gang’s headquarters despite knowing that it was most likely a trap.
Laura was ill.
And her illness was so grave that she could die at any moment.
