“Laura! Answer me! Please!” Adora touched Laura’s cheeks anxiously, trying to wake her up, but Laura remained unresponsive.

“Fuck! Laura, please! Right, the medicine!”

Like someone grasping for the last straw, Adora stood up and rushed off toward the bedroom as quickly as she could. She searched the drawer anxiously for the bag with the medicines until finally, she found them.

“Here. Yes, it’s alright… It will be alright.”

The white pills seemed to bring hope back to Adora. She hurriedly returned with her sister and tried to feed her the pills.

Unfortunately, Laura’s condition did not allow her to take the medication by herself. However, Adora decisively put two pills in her mouth and fed them to her unconscious sister mouth-to-mouth.

But after several seconds, nothing happened.

Adora became pale.

“It can’t be, it can’t be.”

Like a broken machine, she put another pill, the last one, in her mouth and fed it to Laura, but it did not seem to work either.

Quite the opposite, Vlad felt her breath becoming slightly weaker.

“WHY!? WHY IS IT NOT WORKING!? LAURA!” Adora screamed in panic and fear. She tried to give her sister mouth-to-mouth breathing, but it was of no use.

Laura was dying.

And it seemed that nothing that Adora did could help her.

Vlad observed the scene with a frown. He could feel Laura’s vital signs slowly disappearing more clearly than Adora. His sharp senses told him that Laura was very close to death now.

Perhaps in a few seconds she would breathe her last breath.

‘But what is the reason?’

He recognized that the pills that Adora gave her sister were two-star life-replenishing pills. However, these pills had many uses. Vlad could not deduce the reason why Laura was dying through them.

But as he observed her, his senses caught a small clue.

‘Mana…’

The mana inside her body seemed stagnant, as though it was being blocked by something.

Unlike the normal flow of mana in a living person, Laura’s flow of mana was sluggish.

And that was making her body shut off.

All of sudden, Vlad got an idea.

Without hesitating, he took a small red sphere from a bag hidden on his coat and gave it to Adora.

A blood seed.

“Feed it to her.”

Adora was startled. She looked at the ominous-looking sphere and hesitated slightly, but aware that she was out of options, she put the blood seed in her mouth decisively before lowering her head and feeding it to her sister mouth-to-mouth.

“… Please, work…” Adora pleaded in a desperate tone as she watched the blood seed descend through her sister's throat.

One second, two seconds, three seconds.

When Adora was about to despair, a change suddenly occurred.

All of sudden, an enormous amount of mana erupted from inside Laura’s body.

The mana spread from the blood seed to Laura’s body, pushing her mana violently and forcing it to move.

The sudden eruption of mana made Laura’s body twitch violently, but at the same time, her body seemed to reactivate.

In seconds, her pulse recovered, and her breathing became stronger and stronger.

Then, the sick girl opened her eyes.

“… Sister?” She muttered.

“Laura! Are you alright!? Laura!”

Laura raised her hand and wiped off her sister’s tears.

“Welcome back.”

Then, she closed her eyes with a peaceful expression, asleep.

“Yes… Thank goodness… I-I’m back… Laura… *sob*… Thank goodness…”

Vlad sighed as he saw Laura fall unconscious again and Adora cry.

‘Fortunately, it worked.’

Vlad was not sure that the blood seed would work, but he knew that blood seeds were blood and mana highly condensed.

If Laura's problem was that her mana had become sluggish, then perhaps stimulating it could make it return to normal.

It was not a permanent solution, though.

He did not know what Laura’s illness was, but he knew that the blood seed could not fix it.

‘I should ask Adora later.’

For now, they should leave this place first.

“Adora, we need to leave.”

Adora nodded unconsciously and put Laura on her back.

Seeing that, Vlad hesitated slightly before giving a suggestion.

“Why don’t you come to my place? I have medicine there. Perhaps, it can help her.”

Adora hesitated slightly before nodding.

“… Thank you.”

“It’s nothing.”

A few minutes after Adora and Vlad left, several figures appeared in front of the house.

“Is it here?” The young man leading the group asked the nervous man beside him.

“Y-Yes. S-She lives here. I-I’m sure.”

The young man stared at the house and furrowed his brows.

One of his bodyguards then walked inside the house, coming back less than one minute later.

“Young master, there is nobody inside. However, there are traces of people leaving this place in a hurry.”

“It looks like she already left, huh.” The young man sighed. “Such a shame. I was interested in her, and perhaps I could use her to gain points with Karina.”

“Should I search for her?”

“No need. You are not good at tracking people anyway. Just tell the men of the South Crow Gang to search for her and tell me if they find her. Also, remember to tell me when Crow wakes up. I want to ask him the details of the battle.”

“Understood.”

“Let’s go back. Father will be worried if we return any later.”
