'Now Pyra I know you are mad but my Intuition skill told me this would happen so I ask-'
(We are supposed to be in this together. I... I thought I would die because of you!)
I knew I fucked up. And I felt guilty as hell about it as well. Pyra has put her everything on the line on the slim chance I can help her be free, yet I decided to disregard that simply because I thought my skill was at work. I was lucky this time, but it may not be like that again.
'I know. And I'm sorry. I can't promise I won't be faced with more danger, but I can promise to be more careful about it, okay?'
(Idiot. Just promise to listen to me more. I tried to get to you the entire time you were fighting, but you ignored me!)
'...huh? To my memory you were quiet. Too quiet even. The only time you spoke was when my leg...'
(I was trying to tell you to run away, or at the least to be more aware of your surrounding, the entire time.)
I racked my brain trying to find any reason as to why I didn't hear her, before finally reaching the only reasonable conclusion.
During my time in the ring I quickly realized hearing the crowd was too distracting which caused me to lose my first couple of fighrs, and so I somehow managed to shut out all sound when in a fight. I entered a state of total concentration.
And the same thing must have happened when I was fighting the goblins. The only exception was the whistle of the arrows followed by Pyra's worried cry.
I explained my 'theory' to Pyra who decided it was probably what happened, and even added upon it.
(Maybe the pain from the arrow broke your concentration?)
'Not possible. I heard the arrows before I felt any pain. Actually I did feel a slight tingle in my thigh before I felt any pain as well. Anyways whatever the reason, I promise not to shut you out anymore.'
(Thank you.)
After a moment of silent contemplation, I shook any useless thoughts away and opened my 'status'

As I expected, I had leveled up. I vaguely recalled notifications after killing those two goblins, and was glad to see my guess was on point.
It seemed every level up gave me an increase to each of my stats, and some allocatable stat points.
'I know my magic stat increased by two thanks to Prodigy of Flame, but why my resistance stat as well?' I asked Pyra. As the creator of the system she was bound to have an answer.
(Prodigy of Flame increases all magic growth, not just your magic stat.)
'Well that's a pleasant surprise. However it's still too slow. Will my soul heal the same way that it gets stronger?'
The way I would grow my soul was simple. Gain levels. The stronger my soul became the more stat points I would receive per level up. But due to Pyra sacrificing our compatibility, which had previously been 97% and was now 73%, progress would be even slower.
(Yes leveling up will heal your soul. I expect roughly level two hundred will be enough to make a full recovery.)
I released a sigh, and grumbled on about how stupid I was, before getting to the main topic.
'What to do with these skill points?'
Pyra and I spent the better half of an hour coming up with a solid plan.
Neither of us wanted a repeat of what happened with the goblins, which meant we had one of two choices. Put all of my points into offense, or defense. We couldn't afford to make a hybrid build.
We learned toward defense, due to my magic growth and high MP. Most monsters used physical attacks, which meant resistance would be a waste of points, and besides it grew at a faster pace than my other stats. Constitution would raise my defense and health which I desperately needed.
However there was a flaw in that approach.
If I were to encounter an opponent who I couldn't hurt due to a lack of offense, than I would surely lose the fight. I did intend on raising my offensive capabilities at some point, but not now.
'Which means I'll need help. Luckily I happen to know someone who can dish out heavy damage. Pull up their status's again.'
During our talk I used 'observe' to see both Alexandra's and Elise's status?

'Now, Pyra, I'm no mathematician, but the numbers aren't adding up.'
(Sigh. Not everyone gains a point in every stat when leveling up, only stats they prioritize or have a talent in. As for you, you have a Goddess supporting you remember?)
'Ah, right. My bad. And why can't I see any skills? I'm assuming she has at least one.'
(The skill check function has been locked.)
'I see, well onto Elise.'

My jaw dropped so fast it actually hurt.
'Level twenty two with forty seven in magic? Is that even possible without the help of a God?'
(It is possible, although it is a once in several centuries level of talent.)
I started salivating at the idea of having her with me. Sure she wouldn't be able to produce any offensive firepower, but her talent as a cleric was more than enough to make up for it.
Soon after I noticed something odd about her status.
'Why is her MP so low? Don't mana potions exist in this world?'
(They do, but drinking anymore would harm her.)
'What do you mean by drinking anymore?'
Pyra explained how Elise spent most of the week I was asleep by my side healing my wounds. Since they were so deep and messy it took much more effort, and therefore mana, to heal me completely. Elise also cleaned out any and every infection I had received from the goblins weapons.
Looking down at my stomach and thigh I saw there weren't any scars. I was too busy flirting to realize just how far Elise had gone for me, a complete stranger.
"Jeez, stupid girl."
'Alright Pyra I've decided.'
Having said that I put all five points into constitution. This boosted my HP up to 32, as well as bolstering my defense. I immediately felt the difference. I felt sturdier, albeit slightly, which made a small smile appear on my face.
I was going to take the tank route. I would let my magic increase naturally giving me some form of offensive prowess. I would be a tank/mage hybrid. That mixed with a tank who focuses on physical damage, and a cleric who's potential knows no bounds, we would be unstoppable. Only problem was, I had to win them over.
'Alright Pyra I need as much information on this world as I can get. Let's start on the strength of the people and monsters. I need ranges and corresponding ranks to go with it. After that we'll go over the geography and recent history of the world, fifty years or so should be enough.'
(Right. Give me a moment.)

After that a load of information flodded my eyesight. The system categorized things in a typical Isekai F-S Rank fashion, giving me the base stats, as well as the level for each rank.
The F-Rank, or common folk were generally level 1 with base stats ranging from 5-8 depending on gender, muscle mass, and other factors.
E-Rank consisted of people ranging from level 1-10 with base stats totals ranging from 8-11, or in other words slightly stronger than a normal person.
D-Rank ranged from level 11-25 with a base stat total of 12-30. This is technically where Elise was, except due to her talent she landed in the lower C-Rank.
C-Rank was where the majority of people stopped growing. The levels started at 26 and ended at 75, with base stat totals ranging from 31-125. It seemed stats growth gradually increased as people levelled up. This was due to experience, training, talent, or other natural things. Alexandra was somewhere in the middle of C-Rank.
B-Rank was seen as the pinnacle of power for your average Joe it would take years of constant training everyday to reach this level. Normal people couldn't grow stronger by killing monsters, so the only way to grow stronger was by training. The levels here ranged from 76 all the way to 200. With base stats of 126-325. The peak of B-Rank was also where I needed to be to fix my soul.
A-Rank. Only a few hundred people reached this point at any given time. Levels ranged from 201-500. Base stat totals were from 326 to over 1,100. It wasn't uncommon for A-Rank adventurers to have other A-Rank adventurers serving them due to the vast difference in power.
Then there was the fabled S-Rank. Only one man had ever made it there, the hero who vanquished the demon lord some millennia ago. Based off historical records that told tales of his boundless power the system guessed he was somewhere over level 2,000.
Pyra guessed that I would need to reach a similar level for her to ascend safely.
"Seems I need to learn some magic."
