"Thank you, Mister.", Kaede said, her tone polite as she drank the orange juice given to her. Placing on the table next to the bed she propped herself up. Wincing at the sting of the burns.

"Hmm I will need new clothes.", she mumbled, pulling on the sleeves of the shirt given to her by Hinami, it was oversized. She liked her dress. She picked it up but alas it was burned to cinders and melted into her flesh.

A comfortable silence set in as she finished the chocolate dorayaki, Yoshimura all this time stayed in a corner. Worried that the pink-haired might hurt herself. He was already surprised that all that happened didn't seem to affect her or worse she was muting everything and that it would blow up.

'That kinda creepy… like your the boss of this place don't you have more important things to do?', Kaede thought, her bandaged feet touching the ground. Her mood was visibly felt by Yoshimura who said his goodbye and walked out taking the empty glasses with him.

Her gaze fell on a pair of light beige slippers, making sure no one was there she grabbed them with a quick use of her vector.

Downstairs, behind the counter in the break room next to the kitchen.

"How is the horned girl?", Enji Koma, a brown-haired ghoul with said hair in a pompadour. He asked mostly out of curiosity, and a bit of worry. It was quite shocking for him when he saw Hinami with this pink-haired girl that survived with 90% of her body burned.

"Good morning Enji-san. She is Fine… Awake and in enough shape to eat and move, albeit limitedly on her own. However, I must inform you that she isn't a ghoul, neither is she a human… just a lost and traumatized girl in need of help."

Sighing at this, Enji worriedly smiled, Yoshimura was too kind for his own good not that it was a problem. The girl was no danger to anyone.

Never in his mind would he think that she could kill everyone in this building if she so wished and nothing in there could be done to stop her.

"Hmm. I can't stay here for much longer.", Kaede mumbled, dressing up as she stared at the window, scoffing as she simply decided to walk out of the room.

Looking left and right she chose a random direction, uncaring if it even was the right. Left, left, right, and down the stair she noticed the temperature getting colder, so cold that each of her breaths left mist.

Hearing two voices, one male she found familiar and the other female the diclonius continued and was met by a white-haired middle-aged recognized and a black-haired woman she didn't recognize.

"Oh, so that's where you must preserve meat. Do you microwave it afterward? I mean Mother always tastes bad if you do it like this but what do I know raw human flesh for me is just disgusting.", Kaede asked curiously with a small tilt of the head.

Emphasizing on the raw part. She wasn't a fan of steak tartare, be it cow or human origin. Cooked it was just in between high-quality pork and venison if the meat came from a healthy individual. It was ok.

She could recognize the overpowering smell of human blood from even the other side of the corridor. Maybe changing the ventilation might help, the smell not bothering her that much but it's distracting.

"What are you doing down there? It's not a place for kids, wounded kids in particular... Just like you.", Renji Yomo, the white-haired man said, his voice was confused, and harsh, not that Kaede cared. Her words mostly flew above him, it will hit later.

"Calm down, Renji, can't you see she is lost and you might scare her? Hello, I'm Kaya, what's your name?", the black-haired woman said, crouching down in front of Kaede.

"Hello miss, my name is Kaede. And I think I'm lost.", she said innocently while scratching the back of her head, not missing taking a glimpse at one black body bag.

'Do they hunt? Likely not… we are in Japan so people suiciding and in a world like this let ghoul have plenty of secondhand meat.', Kaede analyzed, not that she would have blamed them for hunting, or cared at all for that matter.

It's natural after all, evidently natural doesn't equal to good but again what's good is all but the perspective of every individual and their experience.

Then a random thought flashed in her mind: what if a ghoul became a mortician? Is that a common job for them? Like they can easily take some of the organs and be done with it. Though it might not be the freshest of meat, it also removes the killing part for the more 'moral' one.

While she was in her own world she followed Kaya until both stopped and were in front of Yoshimura. Jumping on a chair Kaede let the adult talk and studied her surroundings.

Answering the question here and there, but only half-truths or a shrug. Lying for her is always a bad idea unless you opt to kill the one you lied to. Lies always come back to bite you in the ass at some point. Not that she has that much experience in that but in the case, things may be revealed she can say she didn't lie.

Yoshimura sighed and asked, "Kaede-san, would you like some coffee?"

"Mister Yoshimura, I'm certain you must do fantastic coffee from what Hinami told me but I must decline your offer. I would prefer a cup of plutonium over a cup of that abomination. However I won't say no to some chocolate milk.", she said, joking at the end.

'Ah young people don't know what's good for them these days....', Yoshimura thought and chuckled, not knowing that for Kaede coffee was not that dissimilar to poisons of the like of cyanide. A shitty-tasting poison too boot.

Which it is in the first place but that is beside the point, consuming poison for literal shit and giggles is nothing new to humans and ghouls alike.

She could purge it from her body with ease but why bother in the first place?

Finishing her drinks she dramatically jumped off her chair, picked up a random piece of paper and a pen then wrote in a secret language Hinami invented. This was followed by her folding it into a sakura flower and with a discreet vector, she put it in Yoshimura's pocket.

She without asking anyone walked to where clients ate and drank. Without giving a single fuck about anything, of course, and exited Anteiku. Her destination, 'home'.

She was here long enough and if It were to know about her friendship with one of the ghouls here many things she would not like might happen. Kaede was sure nothing dangerous would happen to Hinami of Eto were to learn about that, if she didn't already crazy people were very unpredictable.

Be close to your friend and even closer to your enemy. Zigzagging between crowds of people she disappeared into it. Leaving one or two humans lighter.

Only five minutes later Kaya noticed that the pink-haired girl was gone, at first she thought she must have gone to the washroom, but one hour later and a broken door would they realized that she ran away right in front of their nose.
