Toy Soldiers

In a world in the midst of social, political, and technological upheaval Leo of Veni is an escaped slave whose body has been forcibly modified through years of human experimentation with a goal of bonding science and magic. Follow him as he goes on a journey of self-discovery where even he is forced to question even his own mind, body, and soul while the entire world around him sees to be conspiring to force him into a quest that will determine whether his home welcomes peace or the onset of a war more deadly than anyone dares to imagine.

(Toy Soldiers is a dark fantasy story that addresses topics of slavery, class, identity in a world contemporary to Europe at the start of the industrial revolution. While not completely plotted out, I'm following the style of better fantasy authors in constructing a world through notes, map making, and magical laws, overlaying that work with a well established real world setting and then adding our MC and seeing what happens.

Leo is an unreliable narrator to his own story but the reader will often be able to see through formatting and context clues the moments where his ability to be trusted should be questioned.

This world is a dark fantasy but will not feature sexual assault, rape, murder, or slavery being portrayed as acceptable or casual actions and and certainty never from the perspective of our protagonists. While Leo and Co aren't pure moral and upright they are fundamentally still good people and the story is about them working to maintain a desire for good and hope in the world despite the struggles and terrors they have endured to get here.)

PPS: I wasn't really sure what to pick for genres on this one. I usually have a pretty specific image in mind but on this I only really picked fantasy. Obviously more genre tags means more attention so I would appreciate people shouting out suggestions in comment sections if you pick up on something else that could be included.
