Chapter 19: Chapter 19

The next morning Jane woke up fully rested ready to take on another day. She noticed that Agartha, her senior was already awake and wished her "Good morning Miss Agartha."

Agartha who was wiping her wet hair with a towel smiled at her and wished her back "Good morning Jane. Today's your first class so be sure to go early."

Jane nodded and started getting ready. Later while having the breakfast she suddenly remembered about something and quickly asked Agartha "Miss Agartha, how am I supposed to exit the dormitory? The guiding sphere is still pointing in the same direction as it was yesterday night." 

"Oh, don't worry about that. You don't need a guiding sphere for that. Just think of exiting the dorm as you open the room door and you'll find yourself outside the dormitory." Agartha said in a relaxed manner as she wore her tight boots and continued " Alright, Jane best of luck for today. I'll be going now."

Jane nodded and saw her senior carrying a broom stick to the doorway and was blinded for a few seconds when she saw a clear sky outside the door. While she was recovering her vision she saw a blurry figure of her senior sitting on her broom and setting off. A voice that sounded similar to her senior sounded inside her head "Remember to only think of exiting the dormitory while exiting. You need to learn a lot of things before you can use the door like me."

'Telepathy?' Jane thought to herself as the voice of her senior could no longer be heard in her mind. She soon recovered and ate her breakfast quickly. After getting fully ready Jane pushed the room door as directed by her senior and realised that on the other side of the door was same path from which she entered the dorm yesterday. Taking a step inward she soon exited the dormitory as the door behind her silently closed like it never existed.

Jane followed the signs and soon reached the academic building even if the signs were not there she could have easily reached it because of how eye catching the building was. Unlike the dormitory it wasn't its large surface area that caught one's attention but it's height made it stand out.

The building was like a huge circular structure if looked from top. The base of the building had the largest area and as one goes up the area kept on decreasing till one can't see above as the clouds block their vision. 

Near the academic building like any other academic institution a crowd was clearly visible. Knowing that she shouldn't spend her time here and instead rush towards her class she quickly entered the academic building. At the entrance a general map indicating the position of each class for the first year students was put in place. Memorising the path Jane after walking through a flight of circular stairs finally reached her classroom.

The class already had a few people who arrived earlier than her. The moment she entered with a poof sound an old man appeared at the teaching platform and said "Well that makes it all that would be coming, since you all are here let's start the class early. I'm Professor Reclonordic Seams and I would be teaching you the basics of translocation. How I arrived in this room just now was a small example of what studying and understanding this subject will let you be able to do."

Jane looked around the classroom and among the 20 students in the class including her...no one seemed to be surprised seeing this. 'It feels like I'm the only country bumpkin in this class.'

"Miss Jane, I believe you've recovered by now from your dazed state, so kindly take your seat." Professor Reclonordic said.

"Yes, Professor." Jane said while nodding embarrassingly as the sounds of chuckling rang out in the class.

Jane took one of the seats in the second last bench of the classroom which was empty and started listening to the basic introduction of the syllabus that the professor was telling them. When the class was over Jane had now had a complete overview of what she needed to do in this class and how it would help her in the future.

Before leaving the classroom Professor Reclonordic clicked his fingers and the books related to the subject automatically spawned on the table on which the students were sitting along with a notebook and pen. 

"Read the first chapter which is the basic introduction to translocation and write down anything that you don't understand. I'll clear your doubts in the next class before proceeding to the next lecture" the Professor said before disappearing.

Jane was very curious about the subject so instead of interacting with the other students she ended up turning the pages of the books looking at it curiously. Apparently even the other students did the same as even though they were not curious the sight of new books compelled them to open them and look through them

Sounds of page turning filled the room as some even began to read the first chapter to complete the assignment given to them by Professor Reclonordic in order to make better use of their time.

After a few mins Jane felt a movement next to her and when she turned her head she saw a red haired woman sitting right next to her. Seeing that she had unintentionally disturbed Jane, who was engrossed in her book, the woman wore an apologetic expression and said "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you."

"It's alright. I didn't see you in the earlier class. You're coming just now?" Jane asked.

"Sigh, I ended up oversleeping and just now only arrived in the class. My parents were making a havoc at home when they saw me still sleeping at the time when I should be getting ready for my first day at the academy. I ran my way here from home but still ended up missing the first class. I guess that's fate." The woman said without any restraint.

Seeing the woman acting so familiar with her Jane couldn't help but feel comfortable with her and decided to befriend her. "It's alright there wasn't much that was taught today. You just need to read the first chapter of this book and you'll be good to go. I'm Jane by the way."

"Oh, sorry I almost forgot about introducing myself, I'm Rose Lambart, Nice to meet you Jane. Knowing that I only need to read the first chapter to catch up with the class, I'm relieved. Thanks Jane." Rose said.

"It's alright, I suggest you should read it now and be done with it. The professor seems to be late so we can utilise this time for efficiently." Jane said but the moment she finished a voice sounded out from the front.

"What do you mean by I'm late Miss Jane? I've been here from the start." The owl that was sitting on the window beside the teaching platform said as it slowly transfigured into a mature woman.

The rest of the students were also taken in by surprise this time. The woman chuckled playfully and said "Good morning you all. I'm Professor Erika Watson and I will be teaching you the basics of transfiguration." 

"She seems to be playful." Rose whispered to which Jane nodded lightly.

"Alright since I've got your attention let's start our class now." Professor Erika said while smiling as she looked at Rose and Jane for a second longer to indicate that she clearly heard what they were talking about.
