Chapter 12: Chapter 11: A Girl In A Box

The two enemy ships continued their approach.

As they did I brought them up on the main monitor.

When I did so I noticed they were both frigate-class just like Pleiades.

But unlike our ships theirs look battle-worn. There are multiple scorch marks covering both hulls and shotty repairs as well.

Though the most interesting thing about both ships is that both their hulls are sporting an insignia of a crimson wolf.

Meaning these guys are with that group of raiders that has appeared in the area recently and started causing all kinds of trouble. 

Either that, or their using the Crimson Wolves insignia for their own gain and are just a bunch of posers.

However I have the feeling they are in the former category than the latter.

Call it intuition.

The two ships suddenly increased their speed. After they did so they let out a volley of missiles in the direction of the mining ships which are trying to gain some distance.

'Bastards!' I thought.

Attacking the civilians to force us into a defensive position.

Maneuvering Pleiades into the direct path of the missiles I started using the turrets to shoot them down.

As I did so one of the two ships veered off the front path, and started heading around us. Their intent obvious.

While one ship keeps us distracted the other will attack the mining ships.

Not on my watch.

"Rion, are the mass drivers fully charged yet?" I asked him.

"Yes captain." Rion answered.

"Good, thank you." I told him.

I then accelerated Pleiades forward towards the enemy vessel right in our path.

As I did so it released several blasts of cannon fire in our direction, but I evaded most of it and the shots that did land were stopped by our shield.

Yeah, energy shields are also a thing here.

Sorry if I didn't mention that before.

Also, Pleiades shields are top of the line.

Closing the distance I took aim with one of the mass drivers and fired.

Scoring a direct hit and blowing the first enemy vessel to kingdom come.

Then as soon as I did so I turned in the direction of the other vessel and accelerated towards it.

As I did so I noticed it was veering off from the direction of the mining ships.

"Mater Wren, I am detecting space-time fluctuations with our scanners." Riel informed me.

Which means the other ship is trying to make a break for it.

Since space-time fluctuations are an indication that someone is attempting to initiate a Hyperfold jump sequence.

But there is no way I am letting these bastards escape.

Oh no.

Increasing the speed of Pleiades even more I maneuvered the ship into an upward arc, and then immediately went into a dive towards the enemy vessel. Letting off turret fire as I did so.

I scored several direct hits, and the enemy scored some as well.

But since there shielding is weaker than ours we were able to do more damage.

As I dove past them, I immediately preformed a loop and came up on their ass.

I then fired off a torpedo and struck their engines.

Leaving them dead in the water.

Then just like last time I blew several opening in their haul spacing all the scum aboard without hesitation.

I should probably be a bit concerned I can send people to their deaths so easily, but I'll worry about that later.

Right now I have more important things to do.

"Riel, scan that ship and look for anything of value. Also send a message to the mining ships that we will depart this area in twenty minutes time. No more and no less. Rion, hack into their systems and get me every scrap of data they have." I instructed.

"Yes." Rion said.

"Yes master Wren." Riel answered.

They then went to work.

As they did that I monitored our scanners, ready to move at the first sign of any more trouble appearing in the area.

Holding in a bated breathe I watched the chronometer as the minutes ticked by.

Until eventually Riel spoke to me, breaking me out of my stupor.

"Master Wren, our scans show several crates of minerals in that ships cargo hold. I am also detecting a single life-sign as well." She explained to me. "It looks like one of those pieces of shit survived."

"Yes, it does." I said. "Tell me, can you discern their condition or anything at all about them?"

"Not really. The only thing I do know is that they are inside one of the crates in the hold." Riel informed me. "What are your orders?" She asked.

"I'll blow a small hole in the cargo hold and we'll use the tractor beam to transfer everything over to our own hold. Including the survivor." I explained.

We might be able to get some valuable intel out of them about the Crimson Wolves as a whole.

And if not, we'll come to that decision later.

"Understood master." Riel said.

As she did so I pull a small hole using one of the turrets in the side of the enemies cargo hold.

After I did so the materials inside began floating into the vacuum of space. Where they were then captured by a orange-colored ray of light.

Our tractor beam.

One by one all the valuables were moved into our cargo hold.

The entire process taking no more than five minutes.

"Everything of value has been secured, including the surviving scum." Riel informed me.

"Excellent." I said. "Rion, have you completed your task yet?"

"Just finished. I've extracted all the ships data from their navigational logs to their data records." He explained to me.

"Good." I said. "Get ready, we're moving out. Informing the mining ships." I said.

As Riel did this I used a two torpedoes to destroy the enemy vessel completely.

We then followed behind the mining ships as we left the asteroid field behind, our scanners at maximum range just to make sure no one got the jump on us.

Once we were well on our way I stood up from the captain's chair.

"Rion you have the bridge. Riel, you're with me. Let's go greet our guest." I said.

"Yes master Wren." Riel said.

The two of us then left the bridge.

Heading to my room I retrieved my pistol and then the two of us headed down to the cargo hold.

Arriving I saw several boxes arrayed.

Which brings a smile to my face.

Since we stole these mineral crates from raiders by the laws of space they are now legally mine and my crews possessions, which means we can sell them at our leisure.

We just got another payday.

Not to shabby if I do say so myself.

Anyway, I pulled out my gun and then looked at Riel.

"Which crate is the one with the life signature coming from it?" I asked her.

"That one." Riel said.

Pointing to a small crate sitting off in the corner.

Seeing this I nodded.

I then raised my weapon up and the two of us approached it slowly but surely. Until eventually we reached it.

As we did so I saw a panel on the side and moved over to it, initiating the crates unlocking sequence. I then stepped back.

Observing as the crate opened up and two gloved hands grabbed the side of it right after.

Riel got ready to move but I held up a hand stopping her.

I want to see what this person will do for a bit longer.

Pulling themselves out of the crate completely the person inside fell on the floor, and I finally noticed they are wearing a complete space suit.

Reaching up to their helmet the individual inside tore it off and threw it on the ground, before opening up the rest of their spacesuit as well. Taking off the top halve, they place their hands on the ground and started taking several deep breaths.

As they did so I finally got a good look at the person inside of the suit and saw they are female.

The woman in front of me looks to be about my age give our take a few years, but with the advanced medical technology our there I can't be sure.

She long silver hair, which is currently sticking to her body given how much she is sweating, and light blue eyes. She also has clear porcelain skin, and C-cups breasts.

One other thing. The woman currently only has one a bra and nothing else.

I can't help but stare at it.

'Lacy and black.' I thought. Nodding my head in agreement.

This girl knows what she's doing. That much I can say.

Now then the question is, who is she and how did she end up in that box wearing a space suit?

I watched her for several more moments until she finally caught her breathe and regained her senses.

Once she did so she turned around and looked at me and Riel. Locking eyes with me specifically.

"Hello there." I said. "Sorry to spring this on you but you and I need to have a chat. I'm sure you won't mind right." I said.

Even though I'm not giving the woman a choice.

She moved about to respond but before she could...

*Grr*

Her stomach growled for everyone to here.

The second after this happened the woman's cheeks became a deep red.

Meanwhile Riel and I just looked at her with wry smiles on our faces.

Ok, change of plans.

First we'll get this woman some clothes and then some food.

Then we'll have a chat about her circumstances.

Once I decided that we set things in motion.
