“Kinkind are manifested from the imaginations of their summoners,” Sumire explained, “they hijack their summoner’s body, granting the summoner the abilities, and, in some cases, parts of the personality of their kinkind.”
“I’m going to turn into my OC?” Jackie asked, “My crappy, overpowered self-insert M.S. Webber OC that I made when I was 15?”
“A mary sue is just what we need right now,” Sumire muttered to herself, “anything to stop Kuro’s reign of terror.”
“Luna Wolfe is nothing to be ashamed of!” the witch assured Jackie, “I’ve made my fair share of bad characters too, you know?”
“So, when Luna takes over my body…” Jackie gulped, “will I be able to turn back to normal afterwards?”
“Provided you follow the instructions given to you by myself and my followers…” Sumire began, “You should be able to…
…
In theory, anyway.”
Jackie froze in place.
“Relax,” Sumire smiled, “I’m kidding!”
Jackie breathed a sigh of relief.
“No, actually, I was being serious,” the witch admitted, “That was a double bluff!” she winked.
Jackie gave Sumire a light punch on the shoulder. “What is wrong with you?!” she growled. “Just give me back my clothes...”
“Only if you agree to help us!” Sumire jeered, booping Jackie on the nose.
“Whatever,” Jackie sighed, “I already promised I wouldn’t let Kuro harm any more innocents.”
“Excellent…” Sumire smiled. “Now then… Katherine, Kitty,” the witch called out to her feline companions, “show Jackie how to be a good demon…”
Kabuki sighed, looking at his futon which was in a state of disarray. His eye narrowed with disdain. “Can’t that girl clean up after herself?” he sighed, tidying up his futon.
Kabuki heard a knock on the door. “What is it now?” he thought, trudging tiredly to his front door and sliding it open a crack. His eye widened as he blushed before the man outside his house. Noh Hiraoka, an odd fellow. Dressed in a pair of black dress pants, and open white shirt which exposed his muscular physique, a red necktie and a kitsune mask hanging on the right side of his head. Although he appeared to be an ordinary (if extravagantly dressed) human, he was actually a demon. A werewolf, to be precise.
“Noh,” Kabuki exclaimed, grabbing his kabuki mask and putting it on to hide his blushing cheeks, “what are you doing here?”
“I’m throwing a party,” Noh smiled, “basking outside by the lake, looking up at the Moon. Wanna come?”
“I can’t…” Kabuki frowned, picturing Vladimir’s angry visage, “I have to look after some tourist.”
“Bummer,” Noh sighed, “well, later, I guess!”
Noh slid the front door shut and turned around, bumping into another canine demon. A wolf tengu. Luna Wolfe, Jackie’s kinkind. She wore a short, white off-shoulder dress over an only marginally longer red skirt and pink pantyhose.
“Excuse me,” the handsome werewolf smiled, “I didn’t see ya there.”
“That’s ok!” Jackie smiled.
Noh stared Jackie’s recently-acquired tengu body down and winked. “So, what’s a beautiful tengu like you doing in Old King Hamlet?” he flirted.
“Oh,” Jackie blushed, “Miss Shakespeare told me to get a feel of what it’s like to be Luna,” she began, “so I’m just going to be Luna for a bit.”
Noh looked puzzled as he scratched his brown hair and raised an eyebrow.
“What are you talkin’ about?” he asked.
Jackie remembered what Sumire had told her after she transformed into Luna Wolfe. “The general populace of Phantasia doesn’t know about kinkind,” the witch had said, “I’d prefer it stayed that way, so don’t tell anyone that you’re a human, got it?”

“Never mind,” Jackie smiled, shaking off Noh’s question like a celebrity to the paparazzi, “who might you be?”
“Name’s Noh Hiraoka,” the werewolf smiled, “but cute lads and lasses like you can just call me Noh.”
“I’m Ja-” Jackie paused. “Ah, excuse me. I’m Luna, Luna Wolfe.”
“Luna,” Noh sighed happily, “that’s the name of the human realm’s moon, is it not?” he asked. “How befitting of a beauty such as yourself.”
Jackie looked up to the sky. She didn’t notice any difference between the moon overlooking her right then and the moon that she had always known back on Earth. The rabbit was still there, mortar and pestle at hand. Jackie supposed that Noh was misinformed about the differences between Earth and Phantasia. How much did the denizens of Phantasia even know about the “human realm”, she wondered.
“It’s the same moon,” Jackie stated matter-of-factly, “and it sure is pretty tonight.”
Noh looked up at the sky and shook his head violently.
“Is the Moon out already?” he panted. “I should be going!”
Just then the two lupine demons heard a scream followed by a cry for help. They both turned their heads immediately in the direction of the cry. Standing in the middle of the hamlet’s street were a young human man and a demonic knight in full plate panoply with long black hair. The demon knight raised his sword to the human and flashed him a toothy grin.
“L-Leave this town, demon!” the human pleaded.
“Now, now…” the armored demon muttered, “is that any way to speak with a gentleman?”
He raised his sword above his head with one arm before bringing it down swiftly, as the human jumped back, before the knight put his sword back into its scabbard.
“I am the radiant Excalibur Aristophanes, top knight of Milady Kuro’s round table,” the demon smiled. “You should feel graced by my presence!” Excalibur pouted. “I’m here on a quest for Milady,” he said, “you will tell me who slew Milady Kuro’s familiars!”
The human shut his eyes and held his hands out in terror. “S-Stay back!”
Excalibur held out his open hands and shrugged.
“Hmph,” he sighed, “it’s not very gentlemanly of me, but…” Excalibur paused. “I suppose I’ll just have to reap the answer from your lifeless lips?”
The villager’s eyes widened as a single bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face. “I swear,” the human screamed, “I don’t know what you want!”
Excalibur held out his palms once more and shook his head, “Wrong answer,” the knight scowled, unsheathing his sword once again. “I guess I’ll just have to kill everyone who gets in my way…?” he sighed, “At least until someone tells me who in the blazes has been slaying Milady’s familiars!”
Jackie raised her newly formed kinkind hands to her face in terror as her entire body began to tremble.
“No, not now…” she shivered, “Miss Shakespeare hasn’t taught me how to use magic or karate or whatever!”
“What’s going on?” Noh asked, looking over to Jackie.
“That knight is a kinkind and he’s working for Kuro!” Jackie stammered, completely forgetting what Sumire told her, at that moment, “He’s going to kill everyone in this town if I don’t stop him!”
Noh observed Excalibur’s movements. “Oh, I get it,” he exclaimed, “You’re putting on a play, right?” Noh folded his arms proudly. “I can tell from that guy’s movements,” he gestured towards Excalibur, “he’s clearly been rehearsing!”
“Yes,” Jackie sighed, rolling Luna’s eyes, “a play, sure, whatever. But I don’t know how to fight this guy!”
Noh looked up at the Moon, as his hands shifted into furry, long-clawed paws and wolf ears emerged from under his brown hair.
“If you don’t know how to fight…” the werewolf smiled, “allow me to show you.”
Noh raised his head to the Moon and howled. Excalibur stopped mid-sword swing and looked over at the oddly-dressed man.
“I’m Noh Hiraoka,” Noh declared, running into the middle of the street as the unarmed civilian ran away, “and in the name of the Moon, I will defeat you!”
Excalibur’s eyes narrowed as he pointed his sword in Noh’s direction before leaping forward for the kill.
