In fact, most of the events from the novel did not exist. Keane, Alex and Aiden didn't like Bella. The only one who fell in love with her was Mikael. He followed her like a puppy, and Keane ran after him. Alex never knew her. I first saw Aiden in a bookstore, where we met this time. I did not hate my stepmother and Desmond, but I tried not to talk to them and constantly ignored them. Alex was my childhood friend, whom I met near the thicket, and after that, I often ran there to play with him.

We had no idea that our parents knew each other. They never told us about it. Alex and I even jokingly promised to be together forever, but I moved away from him when he became my brother. We really had a strained relationship with my father. We didn't know how to communicate after our mother's funeral. I was very closed, withdrawn, and rude. Before I met Mikael, I fell in love with him at first sight. He seemed to be a prince from books, but I only saw the image in my head and loved him too, and not the real Mikael.

No matter how much I told him about my feelings, he always just laughed. My love for him tortured me. Every time I saw him with Bella, jealousy and envy overcame me. And soon, I was accused of trying to poison the bride of the crown prince and sentenced to death. I tried to explain that it was not my fault, but no one listened to me. Everything pointed to me. Only my father and Alex, and Nina believed me. Aiden did his own investigation, but he couldn't prove my innocence.

Outside the window shone an enormous moon. Its colour was unnaturally red. Mentally, I prayed to God that Aiden could find me, despite the fact that the amulet was no longer on me.

"I can't believe that such a sick man in the head became a priest." I looked with disgust at Victor, who, smiling, stroked my hair.

"There is nothing complicated about this, after the death of Duchess Marie, I went on a pilgrimage with local priests, underwent training and also became a clergyman."

Victor abruptly fell silent and began to look around. I saw Aiden calmly walking toward us.

"Looks like we have guests. So how did you find us?"

"Your friend took the amulet off Ariana, but it's just a trinket. You did a good job of distracting me."

"Not as good as I would like. Well, no wonder you're an imperial dog." Victor chuckled.

"Get away from her. And you can die without pain, I promise." Aiden's smile was intimidating.

"You and your empty threats again." Bella laughed. When did she show up?

"I can't believe I lost to a lunatic and her pet last time." The mage shook his head.

"What did you call me?" Victor frowned.

"And who are you? Running through the bushes, distracting me, sniffing girls. Are you some kind of wild animal?" Aiden chuckled.

"Look after Ariana, and I'll deal with this idiot." Bella began to whisper something.

Something strange began to happen to the air, as if it began to vibrate. Dark shadows appeared behind Bella.

"Who taught you magic?" Aiden looked at Bella.

"My real parents are bloodbenders. They were good at hiding who they really were."

"So, after the execution, some people still survived."

Aiden said something, and a huge circle with pentacles appeared under his feet.

"How many have you killed to control your blood magic so well?"

"Much less than you."

I had never seen anything like it, black shadows behind Bella turning into huge blades and heading towards Aiden. But he didn't move. He spoke softly. The shadows shattered as soon as they approached the magic circle.

"Are you trying to break my magical bond? Nothing will work. I use the power of blood, not the power of the elements." Bella chuckled.

Aiden ignored her words and continued to cast the spell. Bella still attacked him. I noticed that one of the blades still caught him. Scarlet blood was slowly flowing from Aiden's left hand.

"Well, it's worth a try." Aiden put his hand forward and clenched it sharply into a fist.

Bella screamed loudly, and fell to the floor. She writhed like a snake, and Victor immediately ran away.

"I decided that if I cut off your connection with the regular moon, then the connection with blood magic will disappear."

"Clever."

"You should have talked less. I didn't think about it last time. I didn't know you were a blood mage. How long do you have to live without communication?"

Bella laughed hysterically, blood trickling from the corner of her lips.

"Ariana will die after me."

"What did you say?" Aiden walked over to her.

"Even though I didn't succeed again, I'll still take it with me to the grave." She laughed again. "The poison from her lips has already penetrated deep into her body."

"Where is the antidote?" The mage grabbed the girl by the neck.

"There is no antidote. This time, everything went wrong, and I decided to play it safe. Think of it as my parting gift for you. How do you feel now that you know you didn't save her this time?"

She chuckled and closed her eyes. Her body began to turn into black ash. Aiden ran up to me.

"What did she give you?" The mage took the ropes off me.

"Nothing, but she ran her tongue over my lips." I tried to get up, but I could not get my body to move.

He gently took me into his arms. "Look at me and don't you dare die on me."

"I am very happy. Thank you for coming for me and then trying to save me from execution."

"Stop it."

"Thank you for loving someone like me."

"Shut up. I will save you." Aiden blinked.

"Your eyes are the most beautiful in the world." I tried to touch his cheek, but my body wouldn't obey me. My eyes closed, and I felt sleepy.

"Ariana, no. Don't close your eyes." He shouted at me. "Please."

I was sorry I didn't get to know him better. We didn't have much time. If I knew then...
