(A dream?)
I woke up, and found myself surrounded by the abyss. I sat up from where I laid and took a moment to look around, but to no avail. For this place is where darkness is absolute. Upon standing up, I suddenly felt lightheaded, which almost making me lose balance. I made sure to take my time and with it, I managed to regain my senses. Then, I casted a spell, in hopes of shedding a bit of light in this dreary place. But upon doing so, I realize that it barely did anything, and was extinguished a few seconds later. I was completely in disbelief. Something like this just isn’t possible. Unless…
Okay—Enough with the jokes Ren!
(I don’t recall doing something worthy of this—)
To my surprise, it was all for naught; the deafening silence had started to bother me. I kept calling out to them [my brothers], thinking this was all their doing. However, upon hearing nothing but silence, I was convinced that this was indeed a dream. So, I tried to think and did certain things, thinking it would force me to wake up. But to no avail. I laid back down, and gazed into nothing.
So this is wbat being blind feels like…
Although I’ve only been here for a short amount of time, I was already getting sick of the sensation that this place was giving. When, all of a sudden, the same, faint voices had begun to return. It surprised me. But, I was more confused than shocked, since just a moment ago, Gabriel, my brother, gave me what I needed to stop this sudden outburst. In the end, I thought to myself, that I wouldn’t be able to do anything regardless of what I do. And I despise it. They kept shouting, telling me to do this and that, mocking me in the “Old Tongue.” It really does irritate me.
Gahh—(they’re getting louder)
Unfortunately for me, this cursed place didn’t make things any better, as they got louder, it felt like their voices had started to echo. Trapped inside my own mind, and completely engulfed by the darkness of the abyss, I felt as helpless as I was outraged. Their voices had become so loud that my ears had begun to bleed. In an attempt to shut them out, I kneeled and faced down, with my hands still covering my ears. To my surprise, in a few moments later, everything abruptly fell silent. It took a while for me to realize, and even though I did, I still hesitated to remove my hands, which covered my ears. I waited, and after a while, uncapped my ears, sitting up.
There I sat, completely in disbelief. It worked! With that done, I laid back down, feeling the cold water as it embraces me. ‘What now?’ I thought to myself. Suddenly, I felt a touch on my hand. Since I was already half asleep, I didn’t get to see who it was. I stood up and braced myself, getting rid of the water that dripped from my hair to my face.
Voice: Hehehe, HEY LUCI~
(W-who? Where is sh-)
Voice: Awwh… How sad…
(Huh?) …Show yourself! (Why am I even talking to her...She might just be some other typpa stupid voice)
Voice: (sigh) I guess…There’s no other way
I tried to figure out what was happening or at least, what she meant. But in the end, I haven’t got a single clue. Even with my stance and knowledge, I still felt uncomfortable cause of the darkness. It was as if I was fighting blind. While I was occupied in my thoughts, I heard something come up from behind me, so I struck without a second thought.
To my surprise, there was nothing there. When suddenly, she came up from behind me, and jumped on my back while laughing. I tried to get her off, but she just kept clinging on me. While I struggled, she suddenly stopped laughing, and went closer to my ear as she whispered, softly, which was enough to send shivers down my spine.
Voice: Do you at least remember ‘that’ song?
In the language that I once thought belonged to the cursed, she casted a spell as she dragged me down. This place weakened me, making me similar to that of a human and for the first time, I was disoriented. But once I got a hold of myself, I continued to struggle, until I was finally able to free myself from her clutches. I kicked her and pushed myself up, immediately creating distance. I turned around and looked for where she was. But to my surprise, she just sat there, looking at nothing. Only then did I realize that my vision had returned. Although I didn’t know how or why, but when I continued to look around, I saw the abyss for what it is. It felt lifeless, a place where nothing but darkness exists. While hearing myself say this, I couldn't help but think of the one and only place where I knew nothing existed, the Void.
When suddenly, my ears rang as my head began to ache, so much that I was forced to get down on my knees. Suddenly, my body began to burn, it felt like every part of my body was ripping apart. As I suffered, fighting to control myself, I heard someone’s cry in agony. Despite the fact that I couldn’t look, I understood what she was going through, with only her cries. So before it turns to the point where I couldn’t move, I decided to take action. Slow but steadily, I went closer to the girl. Then, when I finally reached her, I kneeled down and pulled her by the shoulder, seeing the same marks of the curse I was born with. Although to my surprise, in an instant, she pounced, and had begun taking away my lifeforce.
(Hrrgh— She’s!) D-dang witch!
…S-stop it…
I continued to call out to her, but it was all for naught. So, before I lost any more of my lifeforce, I forced her to stop, dragging her down by her arms. But even so, she continued to struggle. I never felt so weak, I felt so dizzy it was like I was going to pass out any moment. But even so, I still forced my body to move, to stop her. With the right timing, I managed to place my leg on her arm. I moved out of instinct, which was why I was surprised when she grunted in pain.
S-Sorry! (Stupid f***er, of course she’d get hurt, you’re twice her weight!)
Suddenly, she started to kick furiously, while roaring in pain and anger. But this only made it easier for me to place my other leg, carefully this time. She still continued to struggle, and even almost slipped from my lock. But luckily, I managed to stop her just before she could escape.
Tchh— Stay still
I took my time catching my breath now that she was locked in place. But I knew that it was only a matter of time before the both of us went berserk. 'Mmhkay—here we go...' I mumbled while lowering my head, hesitating as I placed the palm of my hand on the ground next to her head. After giving it some thought, I decided in the end that this was the best way to do it. I took a deep breath and offered my arm, which she took without hesitation and began to drain my blood.

I grunted in pain as she bit me, even more so when she drove her teeth deeper. It hurt so much that I almost instinctively hit her. But lucky for her, I got a hold of myself and punched through the ground instead. Seeing as she seemed to calm down, I was a bit relieved. With my blood now mixing with the water, I managed to create a wall, one that was tall enough for her to lean on as I laid there on the floor, all drenched and worn-out.
Girl: Y-You were always—hrrgh—Like that… Acting all detached n’ cold...
But in the end… You’d still save someone like me.
Shut up, you know—nnh-nothing about me
Girl: I see… so they’re—hah—coming…
Then, I suddenly heard something shatter. I laid down on my back, looking at the crack in which light came out from. With the next strike, he broke through the space and shattered a part of abyss. It was way too familiar it made me laugh. In an instant, he went beside me and pulled me up. I looked back to where the girl was, only to see that she was no longer there. Suddenly, he started to shout as I began to lose consciousness.
Gabriel: Luciel! Can you hear me?!
He’s losing too much blood!
Ren: We should go-
Gabriel: Did you not hear me?! He’s dying!
Ugh… Why’re ya so loud
Gabriel: Luciel!
With the boy now fallen unconscious, countless demons began to shriek. Although it was faint, Ren could sense them and felt their bloodlust as they rushed towards the three. Without a moment to waste, he shields the two before speaking.
Ren: Take him and leave
Gabriel hesitated, but with Ren’s next words, he lifted the boy with magic and moved. Halfway through Ren’s gate, he was surprised to see the demons as they rushed in to block his way. Without stopping, he placed the boy behind him, unsheathed his sword, and took them out one at a time. While calculating his next move, he was left in shock when the demons in front of him suddenly exploded. He looked back, and saw Ren’s gaze fixed towards him.
He then faced forward and continued to run. Ren, on the other hand, stayed behind, annihilating a whole cluster with a simple gesture. When suddenly, Gabriel was shook, for in that short moment he looked into the future, he saw something he couldn’t escape. Even with his all-seeing eye, there was something he was blind to, and that was what stood in front of him.
Gabriel: (sigh) Of course it had to be you
She then smiled, facing him with the scythe that signified death itself. Upon striking her first blow, she greeted him, telling him how much she missed them. Gabriel scoffed, pushing her away with his sword.
Girl: Waah~ I’m surprised you’re actually facing me
Gabriel: (Even I am—so…) Get out of my way
Girl: How col-
She fled, just in time to dodge Ren’s attack. She hovered in the air, with wings so white that it was comparable to that of an angel. Shortly after, she covered her face, laughing. The two could feel the pain in her laugh, which only made them feel uneasy. She pushed her fingers aside, just enough for Ren to see her eyes.
Ren: You… What have you done–
Girl: Now, I’ll make you remember
Infuriated, Ren struck, only to watch her vanish. They stood there, looking at each other, now that they were alone. Ren hadn't seen Gabriel with that expression on his face in a long time. For what they saw was nothing other than the return of darkness itself. Desolation had fallen from the sky.
