Later that night, they reach the camp. Upon entering, Athena lifted the curtain to let herself in, she was then shocked by what greeted her. The Royal Guards were there, scattered, and furiously arguing with Athena’s personnel. Only then did they realize that Athena has returned. Four of the guards then came to her with one of them claiming her to be the Mastermind. After hearing the commotion, an old but muscular man entered from a different room. Montana was surprised to see the General, none of them knew what was happening, but she was certain that Athena didn’t do anything. Because of that, Montana steps forward stopping the guard who tried to forcefully take her.

Montana: Stop! Who do you think you are?

On whose authority are you under?

Royal Guard: It is on his Highness’ request that we take certain suspects into custody

Montana: I heard… IM ASKING what they did!

Royal Guard: I have orders not t-

General Oeberon: Your Highness…

Montana: Uncle Ron... Did something happen?

Your presence here is quite concer-

General Oeberon: Forgive the Knights, it SEEMS that they’ve LOST their honor during my absence

The guard holding Athena then instinctively took his hand off, and bowed as he slowly backed away while the two continued to talk. Athena then relaxes her wrist, which the guard so aggressively held.

General Oeberon:  Now that the issues been dealt with, shall we?

Upon hearing his request, Montana, who was worried, looked back at Athena before hesitantly following Oeberon to the other room. Upon entering, she was greeted by her brother, Dain, who appeared to be pre-occupied by something. After a few seconds, Dain finally felt Montana’s presence and came to her but stopped when his hands started to shake. He then began to stutter as his face turned pale. Seeing this worried Montana, which made her overthink. On the other side of the room, the mood was silent. Yet again, the Guard threatens Athena with his words, but stops upon meeting Athena’s cold gaze. Seeing how empty her expression was scared him, he then tried to talk back but noticed that he had already lost his voice. Athena then gave her men a look, and turned around. She then spoke, loud enough for them to hear.

Athena: I can walk by myself

Guard: H-Halt!

Athena: …Montana! Ill be waiting on the other side!

Montana was surprised to hear what she said. Without hesitating, she went back to the other room, only to see that she had already left. Only a few people were left, with the reason being the one’s packing their equipment.

Montana: I-

General Oeberon: Princess, this way please…

Outside the tent, Athena stops when she reached Veronica. After giving her the same look, Veronica understood and commanded the others to follow. They were then escorted to several carriages, all of which were waiting outside. Montana, who followed them from behind, seemed to be looking for. Athena then raised her hand, catching her attention. After seeing her through the window, Montana called out to her. She was then greeted with a smile, a smile which made her feel guilty, seeing that it was broken. Knowing that she wouldn’t be able to do anything, Montana then goes back inside, heading straight to the Room where Dain and Oeberon were. She then tried to reach out to him, only to see her brother in a broken state. He then began repeating the same thing, over and over again.

Dain: Wh-what am i-what now?

Montana: Dain! What happened?!

Why did they-

Dain: I—I don’t know

Montana: What do you mean “you don’t kn-

Dain: I-im just… Not so sure anymore (sigh)

Montana then stops upon seeing his bandaged leg. She tried to piece things together, but knew it was all for naught. Montana then kneels down in front of him, calming herself before asking what happened. Dain saw her composure and understood the message. He then breathed deeply whilst holding her hand. Montana felt how cold Dain’s hands were, which helped her prepare herself from what she was about to hear.

Dain: There was a-a, and Yve was…

Montana then stood up, in shock and disbelief. A million thoughts began to rush her, but only one was certain. Knowing that Dain was supposed to be at the Lab during that time, she was convinced of what happened. Hesitating at first, she asked him just to be certain. Seeing that Dain couldn’t answer, Oeberon answered for him and upon hearing the same answer in her head, Montana shivered. She started to lose strength and falls back down as Dain began to explain.

During the event of the Rift, Dain was in the Lab. The others had already finished their work, so only a few of them were left. One of Dain’s subordinate, was in the room next to his. She just came over, informing him that she had finished her work. Dain complimented her before saying his goodbye, unaware of her focus which was directed to the amount of work that he had left. After a brief moment, Dain finally noticed this and calls out to her, claiming that he would be fine. He was then caught off guard upon hearing Sophie’s name. His subordinate threatened him by saying that she would tell on him. Dain controlled himself and cuts the conversation, watching as she closed and left the room.

Over an hour have passed when Dain was starting to get tired. He rubbed his nape, massaging it as he lets go of his pen. After a while, he picks up the pen again and started tapping it on the table. Yve then suddenly appeared, leaning sideways at the doorway. He was surprised by her appearance, asking her if she needed something. She then replied by asking him of what he was doing. Yve grins for a moment, and controlled herself whenever Dain looked back to her. She laughed inside, finding it funny that Dain was totally unaware of what was happening.

Dain: …I have a bit of work left so…

Sorry… Ill help with your studies next time

Yve: I-I see… how unfortunate

You have quite a lot left…

Dain: Hahaha~ Indeed…

But Ill be done soon so-

Voice: Okayy that’s enough Yve

Will you show me?

Yve: Hehehe~

Dain was shocked, hearing a voice from out of nowhere. He then looked around, finding nobody else around. But upon observing Yve, he noticed that she was trying to hide something. He then hears the same voice and this time Yve took out a tablet, in which was in a call with someone. He then started to get nervous as he finally realizes the situation. A bit earlier, Dain’s subordinate came to Yve, telling her of the plan she had in mind. On the other side of that call was Sophie, Dain smiled awkwardly upon seeing the change in her facial expression.

Sophie: You’ll be done soon? With ‘that’ much?

Dain: A-ahh! Heyy-

Hey… Didn’t expect to see ya there

Yve: mwehehehe~

Sophie then raised her eyebrows keeping the same cold look on her face. Only then did Dain realize that he messed up. He thinks of an excuse or a story that he can play with. But Sophie already knew this, and shut everything he had down. Sophie then remembered that Yve was still there, so she asked her to leave saying that she too should rest. Yve then listened to her, leaving the tablet on the desk. She wanted to watch how she would scold him, but decided to follow Sophie’s instructions. After that, Dain was left alone with Sophie, who began rambling as she moved from place to place. She had already reached her room while doing so, during which Dain was completely quiet. When she finally realized this, she thought he wasn’t paying attention. So she looks back at the call, and sees him staring straight at her.

Sophie: Wh-what? Are you even listening?

Dain: You look beautiful

Sophie was surprised, which caused her to stop talking. She knew of what he was planning, so she decided to stay in track. But for some reason, she couldn’t look at him, knowing he was probably still staring at her, and wasn’t even paying attention. She then started to get annoyed, which helped her continue her on with her facade.

Sophie: Stop it, Im not in the mood

Dain:  I don’t know what you’re talking about

Sophie: I know what you’re doing

Dain: Which is?

Sophie then snubbed, rolling her eyes as she began to her face. She was caught off guard when he spoke again, saying that no matter how well she controlled herself, her ears would still betray her. Sophie felt annoyed, so much that she scoffed angrily and cuts off the call. Dain was surprised by this and laughed, knowing that she probably did so to avoid getting embarrassed. The Lab then shook violently causing Dain to come back to his senses, he left the room and checks what was happening. He then sees, in a distance, a figure of two people as they were exiting the Lab. Dain turns from side to side and noticed that most of the Lab’s support was blown off. Without a moment to waste, he runs as fast as he could, heading to Yve’s room. He sees her on the way, and shouts her name. But before she could look back to him, another explosion occurred.

Upon waking up, Dain’s senses were blurry, but knowing how dangerous it was if they were to stay, he forced himself and stood up. Dain leans down to the wall of debris which separated him from Yve. He calls out to her and sighed in relief upon hearing her voice. He then explained what she had to do to escape. He told her of another exit, and the code required for it to open. After she opened the gate, Yve called out to him to inform him that she had succeeded. But to her surprise, she was cut off immediately after she called out his name. Dain, who heard this, called out to her, only to be left in silence. After a while, he decided to leave, he then circles back to where the other exit was located. Dain waited for her to come out but after a while, he ended up going in himself.

He was confused when he reaches the other side, for Yve was nowhere to be found. While thinking, a thought came to his mind. He then studied the possibilities of that event and chose to move, thinking it’d be best to do so as soon as possible. He then meets with the Royal Guards who came after hearing the explosions. Dain then called for an emergency, denying their request to treat him first. Fortunately, General Oeberon had already returned after being summoned by the king. With his leadership, Dain was treated and they were successful in capturing some of the invaders. It was also at that time that his men received his orders, sealing all of the exits to the Kingdom. The day ends as Montana finds herself running back to the Palace, with Dain following from behind.
