Chapter 3: (3)Resource

(Note:

Spiritual energy= energy of plants and trees and animals and spirits and mortal

Heavenly energy/qi= Energy of cultivators. Spiritual energy will turn into heavenly energy once someone cultivates

Soul energy/qi= Energy of soul when something cultivates or strengthen their soul)

Marlyn is currently sleeping and recuperating her energy. She can't maintain her form for a very long time because of the lack of energy in the system.

It's like working without enough food and sleep, you won't be able to function properly.

They are thinking of going outside and gathering resources to maybe try their hands on creating a virtual space.

With a thought, they appeared on the outside world. The sky looks so dark with glistening stars hanging from it.

They look around, the darkness doesn't affect their vision at all as they are spirits. Lily tried absorbing some energy from the air, but his body keep expelling them.

He just shrugged his shoulders and said nothing else.

"What should we collect first?" 

Yen asked, there is so much stuff outside and it's hard to choose which to collect first.

"Everything? It's not like they will run away"

Lily respond as he crouched and scoop some soil with his hand. 

"Ok"

Yen nob and went the other way to collect some plants.

Meanwhile, the soil on the palm of Lily dissolved into symbols before disappearing and leaving behind a small screen.

A soil with a low level of spiritual energy 

Quality: Average

He really can't expect that much from normal soil.

He then went to gather other stuff like stones and plants.

On the side of Yen. She's on a small creek not too far from Lily. 

What she's eyeing are the small fishes swimming in the creek. There is also the water which can be useful and also the minerals under.

She scoops some water and immediately turned it into virtual data.

Water containing some amount of Spiritual energy

Not safe for consumption

Quality: Average

She's quite satisfied with the result. It might be only normal water, but it can be a good foundation for the first virtual space they are making.

She wants to test her new powers, so these fish might be good targets.

A warm feeling pass through her hands and a small magic circle appeared and float atop her hand. Turning her focus to the fish, a small bright symbol appeared on its forehead and its motion became so much slower.

This is one of the only few magic she can cast currently. A low-level slow curse spell. She still can't use her virtual law because she's still not accustomed to it and needs more practice.

Even the low-level curse drained her mana by a third which is not favorable. This surprised her and only show her how much weaker they are from their past selves.

She feel helpless, but she also thought that it's not too bad to start again.

She grabbed the fish and was curious about what its screen will look like.

A common fish with no spiritual energy. The name originates from its pike like shape

She can't help but smile, this is too entertaining for her. She captured two more different fish until her mana is drained.

Time passed and move. They're finally done with the plants in the surrounding. They also found a lot of insects, but their haul only consist of average quality stuff.

"This won't be enough for our plan. But let's return for a while, she might be already up"

Lily said with a soft sigh

"Let's wait for a while until we're confident enough we already gathered what we can gather

"There might be some hidden treasures and so we can't miss them."

As much as she agrees with him, it is much more efficient to cover everything so that they won't miss something that can be potentially good.

Lily furrowed his eyebrows because he doubt that there can be something good in such a normal forest, but he love his lover and so decided to go along. They might obtain something, who knows.

"Sure then"

He said, warmly.

And with that, they returned to the platform. Marlyn seems to still be recovering her energy.

Surprisingly they receive a screen they didn't expect.

Yen has a warm smile on her face while saying so.

The screen is not something they expect because they thought that the system energy will automatically increase while they gather virtual data. Who thought that it will only increase once they return. 

The note about the increased time is also a good one. If they gather a lot of data outside it will substantially increase the strength of the system and the duration they can accompany their daughter.

"We have a lot of time, let's go back and gather more" 

Lily said, without Marlyn to accompany them it will be too boring to stay in this white place. 

Since there's nothing to do here, Yen agreed to him.

Once again they are back outside. 

Yen seems to be enjoying the cold wind brushing on her skin but hating the darkness of the night. 

"This place is more pleasing than earth"

She murmurs quietly

"Anyways, which direction should we take? "(Yen)

" Hmmm, we already explored most of the area, only a few are unexplored, let's pick that direction, I feel like something good is there"

Lily pointed to an area full of tall grasses.

Looking at the he's pointing at, Yen thought that it looks very normal, but she doesn't really mind.

They then walked to the patch of area while Lily is using his virtual law of plants to detect any new plants. His range is small because of limitations, but it's still very effective.

While they didn't find anything yet, they gather plants and also samples of the soil on the way. They didn't take too much so that the environment will not be heavily affected. 

They spent another two hours and to no avail, they didn't find anything new other than animals. They caught some animals like birds and other small critters, but the others are too hard to catch even with them using their abilities to the maximum.

They visit other more unexplored areas after that. They also found no new things in those areas. Now the only area left that they haven't explored yet in the nearby river.

They jump across the sharp rocks lining the bank of the river like nimble birds.

"The scenery here is nice"

Yen said while standing alongside Lily.

"Yeah, there are also good fishing spots

Let's go catch some fishes"

And with that, they hurry on their steps near the water.

Along the way, Lily converted some boulders and beautiful stones into virtual data. 

"Let's collect as many waters as we can."

Yen said as she dip her hand under the water. Following that, the waters close to her hands converted into data and new water replace the vacant space.

They can't instantly suck big volumes of water at a time because the system is still not that developed.

Lily joined her. He doesn't know why Yen wants to, but well, extra energy for the system is always welcome.

As for Yen, the reason why she wants to do it is that she's hoping to also get the things in the water rather than just obtaining water without the things commonly in it.

She forgot to do it on the creek, so she won't pass this Ine.

Rich in nutrients and slightly more spiritual energy than other water

It's satisfactory, and also good. It will be a bit of help for them

Soon they're done. Time for the fishes.

The river is deep on some parts and shallow on others. The deep parts look dangerous and occasionally big shadows would upper under the deeper parts.

They all look Intimidating. They still can't take on big fishes and so they will stick to the shallows.

Lily offers a hand to her so she can stand up.

She smiled and hug him a bit before going back to the topic at hand.

They then go to a fairly shallow portion of the river.

They keep looking around under the rocks and boulders.

Occasionally, they will get some ordinary snails and clams. They also found new plants and other things. Yen in particular dug some 4 feet of river soil because it might be useful.

But soon a surprise came to them. When Yen was turning over a rock, a big fish swam from under the rock.

She shouted and it caught the attention of Lily.

"I found a fish! Come here!"

They only found snails and clams so it's a surprise for them. 

Yen quickly cast a slowing curse on it and run after it.

Lily is also quick to take action and used his remaining mana to summon roots and entangle the fish. 

Yen got a hold of its tail and prevented it from escaping. Lily then came to her side and help her. They're all wet. Happiness could be seen on their faces.

For them, it's no longer about fish, it's about fun.

"Ohhh my look at this gorgeous" 

The fish is slim and armored on the back and it also possesses sharp fins. Overall pale white. In size, it's about the size of two thighs full of muscle.

They quickly turn it into data because it might disappear.

They're surprised, they already saw wonders of the world, but nothing beats something you worked hard to gain.

"Let's search, maybe we can find more"

They go into action and turn around rocks faster because of their excitement. They caught two more and another new fish, it's a fish that can be considered flying underwater. It uses its big fins for a very quick maneuver. It's hard for them to catch. Now, they actually encountered a lot of these fishes, but only caught one.

To be honest it doesn't matter if they catch more than 1 of the same species because at that point you will only gain energy for the system
