Chapter 4: (4) Let’s create a game!

-A few days later-

Yen and Lily have been searching the forest and rivers these days and unfortunately, they didn't find anything valuable in the forest. As for the river, the fish were too hard for them to catch. They are too fast and slippery.

Now they decided it's time to try the making of the virtual space. 

They have their daughter with them, she can now stay for 8 hours at a time because of them gathering so much energy to feed the system.

Still, on the platform, a bubble appeared next to the platform, and it circle it.

They float next to it, once their palms touch the bubble they got transported to an empty white space.

Marlyn already told them how to create a virtual space. It's like creating a world, but the rules of that world are structured like a game system with features and functions.

As for what the two are trying to create since they always dreamed of vacation when they are still in the afterlife they are going to create a survival/exploration simulation game. 

The other reason why they pick survival/exploration simulation game is that they want to create a bright world for their daughter to have fun instead of sitting on a platform floating on nothingness and for them also for the same reason they want it for their daughter.

"Mom, Dad, can I join too?" 

Marlyn tugged their clothes and looked at them. She improves these few days, she can now show more emotions.

"Sure, my little girl" 

Lily pat her gently. And then a teasing smile appears on his face.

"You look like your mom when we're still dating, of course not as young as you. You're beautiful like your mother"

She's saying those while staring straight at the eyes of Yen.

She suddenly has the urge to tell him to shut up and smack him. She's kinda weak to such teasing and so that's why Lily quickly came to the habit to tease her.

As for Marlyn, she's agreeing to everything her father says.

Yen picks up Marlyn and kisses her cheeks.

"Let's go, sweetie"

She flew down together with her daughter.

Seeing this, Lily laughs and shakes his head. He goes along with them.

They first took a look at the area and where to start.

"We should put some layers of rocks at the bottom first and then make sure to make the earth as deep as possible"

Lily crossed his arms and said. He's floating just behind the two. Taking advantage of this, he pokes the cheeks of his daughter.

Her face is a bit expressionless, but he still pokes her cheeks.

"Let's go with that idea, I think that will be much better for the roots and also other things that can develop under"

She said.

Yen then put down Marlyn gently.

Marlyn is also excited, but it doesn't show much on her face. 

They got to work and filled the foundation with all kinds of stones. They changed the data of the stones to be super dense. 

The whole world inside the bubble looks like a world of flat stone at this point. This is their foundation. They are like gods when creating virtual space so it's easy for them to turn a vast area here into stones.

As for Marlyn? She's having fun modifying some plants. Plants with oversized leaves, plants with mouths, plants that look like a bed, she's having fun with her creativity. She wants to try fish but changed her mind when she accidentally created something disgusting. Now she hates fish. The couple of-course was speechless at the scene. 

There are also the insects that Marlyn doesn't mind.

They choose to just let her be and she seems to be having so much fun. 

Now back on their project. They decided that the amount of rock is too much and think that floating Islands will be more fun.

They continue to work. Earth quickly filled the area. The bottom part has landmasses separated by massive cracks on the ground that looks like a doorway to the abyss. The bottom of the cracks has earth instead of the rock foundation. 

It is so another ecosystem can exist and also good to explore.

Now that it's done, the current place looks like a flat world filled with cracks. 

They're only still creating a frame. 

Soon massive sky islands start to appear and they are also flat on top.

The world is starting to look fantastic 

Now that this place is so massive, it will be difficult to add the finer details and will surely take them a lot of hours and most likely even days. But when did afterlife residents care about time?

Marlyn whose focused on her plants and insects gazed at the world surrounding her and become excited.

She left what she's doing and run on their side. Imagine someone moving excitedly while having a stone-cold face. Yeah, that's basically Marlyn at this point.

"Hmm? Sweetie?"

Yen looked at her curiously.

"Mom, can I also play with that?"

She pointed at the current terrains.

"Sure sweetie, just don't touch that one in the center"

Yen pat her gently.

Hearing her mother, she excitedly goes into the distance.

"Looks like this place will be very lively"

Lily says to Yen as he imagines the chaos.

"Indeed"

She just smile sweetly.

"Let's go, we still have some more terrain to create"

He said as he flew away to a floating island.

She didn't follow him and instead go to the middle of this world. 

This place will be the focus of this world.

Once she landed she looked at the soil and realized how lacking they are when it comes to data. 

She sighs and just starts what needed to be started. 

Mountains started to rise with the middle one having a flat top. Grasses then grow on the top. Their data was modified to produce a lot of spiritual energy. 

Such grass starts to grow everywhere, they need to fill up the atmosphere with a lot of spiritual energy. This spiritual energy will be something like a fertilizer to the world and it will nourish the soil and in turn, the soil will nourish whatever is growing on it.

But there is a flaw, these grasses can't survive for long and so additional grasses must be planted every time the previous grasses die. The grasses produce little spiritual energy but with so many, it will create a difference.

After that, she created a big lake in the middle of the flat top of the mountain. There she filled it with water. And at the bottom, the rocks produce more water. The data of water and stones were fused to create this stone bed. The stones are also like the grasses, but they produce so little spiritual energy

A passageway for the water to exit on the top of the mountain was also created.

She stays there creating a lot of things for the nourishment of the lands.

Meanwhile on the other side, Lily is having fun creating waterfalls flowing from the floating islands and cascading downwards. 

The floating island he visited now has a massive lake taking over 70℅ of the area. It is very deep and wide.

Under the water, there are so many holes leading to cavernous areas under the island. He's planning to turn these caves into challenges with rewards at the end. 

Carpeting the lake's floor are glowing blue plants absorbing spiritual energy and turning them into water.

There are also coral-like underwater trees with small grape-like fruits hanging on them. They glow faint blue and are concentrated with a low amount of spiritual energy.

The rocks at the bottom of the lake are riddled with holes as moss grows all over them.

The amount of life here is still few. There are giant clams camouflaged as boulders. Snails gnawing on plants and some small fishes. These fishes in particular are smaller versions of Wing fish and armored sword fin.

They are herd fishes and gather in large amounts. Other than these fishes there are more varieties of the two fishes. Too bad that their quality is too low or else he can make stronger versions of them. 

This is a problem they found. If the data is weak, they can't make stronger versions of it. For example, the river and grasses and other stuff can only carry so much spiritual energy because of their inherent weakness and also because they don't have data of something that can carry a huge amount of energy. Of course, they can make them stronger, but too much improvement and the data structure of the particular creature will collapse.

There is one way that Marlyn told them. The creatures inside the virtual world can naturally grow and evolve if it's inside the original copy of the virtual space.

You see, once other creatures use the virtual space they will be transported to a new space instead of the original. The original will also be a way to update the virtual space without disturbing the other people using it. Creatures in the copy and the original can both obtain intelligence and grow stronger. But only the one in the original can naturally grow without the presence of other people. That means that even if the original copy is sealed the creatures there will continue growing while if the copies are sealed then it's the end for every creature there.

It's pretty fine for them, time is never a problem for them.

Back to the place Lily is working on. Other than the small version, there are 3 more varieties of each. 

The strongest of the varieties both live on the deep part of the caves. First is the Giant armored sword fin. Unlike other sword fins, this one possesses more armored scales up until the tail and only leaves a small part of the belly exposed. Overall it's the size of a truck. There are four of these overall. They are not that strong actually, they are just a pain in the ass to deal with. 

The other for the Wing fish is similarly the size of a truck. But unlike the Giant armored sword fins, these fishes possess weak defense. What they lack with the defense they excel at speed. 

They are much weaker, but still hard to deal with. There are also four of them

Of the other two armored sword fins. The first is a scavenger with weak armor but a long eel-like body. The other one is an ambush fish with a shorter body, but with a much wider mouth and sharper fangs.

The wing fishes, on the other hand, the first became reliant on eating plants and camouflaged. Its body glow in a similar passion to the plants. The last one specializes in cracking clams and snails and escaping before other smell the food. It possesses a much more slender body.

There are other fishes other than those two, but they mostly stay as bottom feeders and food for other fishes

And so the life under the lake is very lively.

The outside of the lake looks like a forest of roots, the trees have these weird twisted shapes that make them look like roots. As for their leaves, they grow on their roots and look like grasses. So the grass field under the trees is not really a grass field. 

It's such a weird sight.

Feeling satisfied, he flew away to create more stuff.

-bellow the crack on the ground now named abyss-

Marlyn is hopping around still with her iconic emotionless face.

All-round it's so dark you won't even be able to see your hand. But in this darkness, there are some rather weird glowing flowers. They all have unusual unicorn-shaped flowers. She has taken a liking to such creatures her parents talked about.

It's not the only one, every part of the bottom of this portion of the abyss is filled with beautiful flowers and big insects with beautiful appearance.

A particular beetle the size of a house looks like a combination of plants and beetle. On its back is a carpet of flowers, some are dangerous and some are harmless. 

More of such beetles roam the abyss. 

Because the abyss is too small, she created big caves and tunnels all around and filled them with her beautiful creation

Days passed and soon they met a bottleneck. Not enough data, every creation feels repetitive because of not enough data. As for Marlyn, her creation become dangerous that they stopped her from creating any more dangerous man-eating flowers and beetles before it affect her negatively. She reluctantly agrees once they promised to get more beautiful flowers for her from the outside.

They will only allow her to continue her dangerous creation once she's stable enough, her current situation made her easy to affect with negative hobbies and they don't want that and so they take breaks to teach her about good things.

They're not strict, but also not so laid-back. They know that the more they try to stop her, the more she will crave to do it and so they are teaching her. Not outright stopping her, but explaining to her why it's not the time yet.

Pleasingly this place nurtures them slowly the more they stay here. They already know it would, but it's still a good variable.

They're planning to go to cities and so they are planning.
