Chapter 9: (9) first contact

After adding all the magic systems, Marlyn began creating magics with those magic systems. 

The magic systems each have different concepts, but it's easy for her.

Within each magic systems are a vast collection of magic spells. In terms of cultivators, it is a genre of cultivation technique. 

But unlike cultivation techniques, magic systems rely on magic circles. 

Soon rules about drop frequency and drop rate of magic skill books were implemented and mana systems were also implemented. So that means they no longer have to rely on solely physical strength and brain, they now also have to learn how to conserve and efficiently spend their mana. It is now an option to strengthen when leveling up. And speaking of leveling up, they added 15 more levels, and now a total of 20 levels.

After she's done, she went back to the flat mountain to eat some chickens.

On the side of the two 

They went back to the game and saw an announcement.

"Another update? What is this? Magic?" 

She read everything and then when she realized what it means she became happy. And the additional levels will help them greatly.

She entered the game and saw her disciple on the side carrying a makeshift spear. His sword broke last time since they used it to cut trees also she run out of arrows. 

They are both wearing insect shells tied up together using vines. 

"Master, should we call for the seniors or hunt for magic spells first?" 

He readies his other weapon which is an oversized club made from a rhino beetle horn they killed in the past. 

Hearing him, she thinks, she decided that since they are already inside they might as well see these so-called magic spells.

"Let's go for a hunt first" 

She said as she took her makeshift dagger made from some kind of horn and brought her bow together with some crudely done bone arrows.

They went out of their cave cautiously and avoided the traps they set up for intruders.

Soon they are out of the range of the traps. On the front of them are a meadow and all sorts of small creatures running around. Once they saw them, they quickly borrowed down.

They ignore the creatures as small creatures won't give them anything good.

They continue traveling until they arrived at their destinations. A small lake. 

Feb ordered her disciple to lure out their target. 

He sneaks behind the grasses and picked a couple of stones and threw them at the lake. At first, nothing happened, but he keep on throwing stones.

The water began to bubble and a big head popped out of the water. It resembles a salamander, but on its head, a horn is growing. It pulls itself out of the water and revealed its entire body. It is as big as a boulder and covered with moss.

Feb then tossed a spirit stone far away near her disciple. 

Even tho it saw where the stone came from, it still run after it desiring to devour it. It is fast, but when it is about to eat the spirit stone. An arrow pierced its eyes and it howled in pain. Taking this opportunity, her disciple jumped from the bush. With practiced moves, he speared its other eyes all the way to the brain. 

That finishing move did it. 

They quickly pull the salamander far from the lake.

"Arrows are hard to make" 

She sighs at the broken arrow she pulled from the eyes.

"Master, I found something" 

He said before passing over a book to Fen, it is still covered with blood. The blood strangely didn't affect the papers.

"This kind of paper is very expensive, what a waste" 

She looks with envy at the pages. 

She looked at the title.

' Firepit spell?'

She flipped the pages and read attentively.

" Weird, I haven't seen a cultivation technique like this before. Is this the so-called magic spell?"

She murmurs, she continues reading until she reached the end. The book is not that long. 

For her, the name magic spell is a foreign term.

When she closed the book, a message appeared atop it.

Conveniently her disciple is done getting the precious materials from the carcass. 

Seeing this, she clicked no and tossed it to him. 

"Try learning it"

She said

"I- yes master" 

Putting down what he's doing, he picked the book and read it. Once the choices appeared, he clicked "yes" 

Instantly his vision changed, he can see a strange man in strange clothing chanting something and a circle of symbols appeared in front of him which turned into a pit of fire. The fire on the pit then blows up, leaving only chard ground.

After the visions fade, he's back to the grassland. His forehead is full of sweat. 

Under a powerful influence of curiosity, he chanted and then pointed at the already looted carcass. 

A similar circle appeared and a fiery hole appeared in its place. 

The carcass fell and burned beyond recognition. The flame went on for a short while before disappearing and leaving the chard hole with a small flame in the middle.

The flame then detonated sending the two flying away.

"Instant learning and such great power" 

She got up and said under her breath.

She then helped him up and dusted his body. This disciple of hers is important to her and if he can learn more cultivation techniques, no, magic spells. If he can learn strong magic spells then she might be able to finally grant her promise to that person of the past.

"How are you feeling?"

She helps him sit down.

"Don't worry master, I feel normal

It feels strange as if knowledge about the technique is being imprinted in me" 

He cupped his hand respectfully.

She sighed in relief. 

"Let's go, we're done here. Let's return before other monsters get attracted. "

Her mind is still shocked, she never thought it's possible to learn that way.

They gather their things and went back to their shelter.

They didn't encounter anything dangerous on their way and they arrived safely.

"You go first, make sure to take a rest" 

She forced him to leave the world and take a rest outside, she's concerned that it might bring qi deviation if he learns too fast.

Following the order of his master, he went back reluctantly. 

After that, she cupped her hand and bow a bit in a direction.

"I think senior already know I'm looking for you"

Lily asked Yen while munching on a chicken leg.

A portal then appeared in front of them.

Strengthening her heart, Fen walked through the portal.

What's on the other side surprised her. 

All around her are so many beautiful flowers and precious herbs growing in abundance like grasses. 

She swears she even saw a dragonfish on the lake and the lake is so full of them.

"-cough- -cough" (Lily)

"Ahem" (Yen)

Only then did she notice the three people in front of her and the scene almost made her vomit blood.

They are using spirit stones with a higher concentration than the one she can have her hands on.

What surprised her is what they are cooking. This smell, it's a 2 colored Phoenix!

Seeing her shocked, Lily created another log for her to sit on.

"Come join us, we can talk later"

Yen invited her to join them. Yen created another skewered chicken. Lily also created more sprite stones for fuel and Marlyn just keep eating.

"Did you just -" 

Before she can finish, Yen passed a plate of chicken thighs with a generous amount of skin.

"It's a secret, but let's keep the talking for later

Enjoy the food" 

Yen and Lily can't help but feel satisfied when she saw that surprised expression on the face of Fen.

They all ate silently. To be honest, Fen thinks that the food here tastes good.

After the meal, Marlyn has to take a rest, and they warmly hug her until her body finally turned into particles.

They invited Fen into the hut.

"Who's going first?"

Lily asked.

"You first, seniors" 

Fen respectfully said to them

Yen and Lily have weird faces, the formality is killing them. They feel suffocated.

"Drop the formality" 

Yen said with a helpless face.

"Yes seniors, may I ask what to address you?" 

Seeing this, they feel helpless.

"Just call me Lily" 

Lily bow a bit, as brought to him by his old habits.

"Yen" 

Yen drank a bit of water.

"Hmm you can tell us what you want and we will tell you what we want" 

Yen is the one good at speaking between the two. Lily is not so good at that aspect while he actually can also talk with someone.

(Gonna skip this part because I'm not good at this part)

And so they talked with each other and both agreed on a term.

Yen and Lily will Give her sect members free Vr glass, they will start by giving glasses to those higher in rank and going down.

They are currently in the air going up to a floating island.

Lily asked while looking back at Fen.

"They look beautiful, senior Yen" 

She's feeling cold sweat on her back

Hearing her response, they feel satisfied.

"We are here, this is what the floating islands look like. We're letting you see this ahead of time so you can feel motivated to continue on your journey.

"I'm going to give you 2 hours to explore this place, beware of the lake" 

After saying that, Lily brought Yen back to the flat mountain to have some fun.

As for Fen, she bowed to the direction they left. 

She feels happy that two such figures support her sect. In her mind they are godlike, they can create life with a flick of a finger, what else can they be? So because of that, she feels relieved. Why would 2 godlike figures play with a small sect like hers? If they want they can destroy her sect with a whim

And so that is what she's thinking. If Lily and Yen found out what she's thinking about they might laugh their lungs out. But honestly, they think this illusion is great too and can keep them secured for a while.

Back to Fen. 

She wonders about the forest of upside-down trees, such weird trees surprised her. But not as surprising as the view at the edge of the floating island where she can see other more massive floating islands and the landmass full of cracks under those islands. Such a magnificent sight.

As she walks around the forest, she arrived at a massive lake. There are many precious water plants on the lake and unusual plants grow on the bank. But something on the side of the lake frightened her. It's a combination of an unusual fish and a centipede covered with thick whitish armor resembling bone and spirit stone.

It's currently eating bones, it just stared at her before ignoring her.

Realizing that it won't attack her, she feels relieved.

She backed off and gave a respectful greeting to the beast.

She left and explored the other parts of the island and encountered more unusual beasts that are also strong. 

She feels fortunate her spawn is not in the floating islands

Soon her time is up and Yen and Lily pick her up.

She gave them a respectful greeting before leaving through the portal
