The old man, Paul, was simply standing there watching the touching scene of the remaining survivors who were hugging each other. His cold and emotionless eyes seemed to have lost the will to live completely.

"Ain't that cute? What about me? I need a hug too. I have lost someone dear, after all. How about showing some sympathy for someone who has got nothing left?"

He sighed through the cold air of the night and continued, "What has this shitty world become... Thinking about it, we don't even know if the Kingdom of Riveria still exists. Maybe the whole world is in chaos due to witches’ revenge on people." Paul was talking to himself analyzing the situation at hand.

"Let's send a message, shall we?"

At that moment, the ground broke underneath the circle of people and thick branches came out of the earth penetrating and making holes in most of the villagers. They were growing and going higher and higher towards the moon with tons of blood flowing down on them. More brunches appeared from the ground and wrapped themselves around the people that were already dead and pulled them apart by ripping them into more pieces, multiple times.

"Break! Break! Breaaaaaaak!" the old man was screaming with an evil smile while the bodies got split into several parts. The enormous quantity of blood started spilling everywhere chaotically. Soon, the sick scene before him resembled pure hell as the bodies transformed into a rain of blood and flesh, painting the ground and the grass red. The messenger had been among them the whole time!

B managed to dodge by flipping backwards right before the disaster, but she did not have time to save anyone else. Unable to do anything, she watched the massacre unfolding before her very eyes completely shocked. The touchy moment they had a second ago was completely destroyed by none other than Paul, Anta's man, who was laughing uncontrollably as if he had completely lost his mind.

"HA HA HA HA HA HA!"

The old man must have been distracted by his own massacre as he did not even notice when his ear got cut. A sword flew past his head and into the tree behind him. He turned his head in the direction the sword came from, but he only saw Akira, Luke, and Oliver running into the forest, so who threw the sword then?

B was crouching in front of him so he won't see her, "You will suffer for this."

Despite seeing the girl in action before, he was still amazed by her speed and had no time to dodge. The girl's fist made contact with his stomach with such an impact that the shock waves sent the crows away by force and the old man flying up.

"That hurt, you bi--" Another fist made contact with his mouth in mid-air, sending him further back through the air and above the trees. Some of his teeth broke, but there was no blood coming out.

B used a branch to push herself back up with incredible speed towards Paul.

"Enough is enough!" he shouted as he lifted his hand towards the girl that was fast approaching. Multiple branches came out of his palm to attack B, but with no success. The branches were cut down before his eyes in less than a second and the girl was again next to him, this time grabbing the top of his head. Her hand was holding him so firmly that he felt his skull cracking. Her claws that protruded in the heat of the fight were also scarring his bald head.

"Die, moron!" she had a killer's eyes and her voice was lacking any kind of emotion. She was ready to kill him with no regrets whatsoever and he knew it.

"Aaaaaaaa, stop it!" Paul pointed up with two fingers trying to summon a branch from a tree below them that would hit the girl, but all his fingers from his right hand had already been cut by B's claws and he wasn't even aware of it. Looking down, he saw his lower half missing too.

"WHEN THE FUCK DID ALL THIS HAPPEN?!"

With a fist from above, the girl sent Paul flying down so fast that his body could not even be seen. He crashed into the ground with a bang forming a big crater underneath him. The girl fell from the sky, bounced on a few branches, caught herself on a tree, and landed on her feet a few meters away from him. She was now waiting to see whether he died or not.

"S-s-s-such unbelievable power," despite being cut in two and having a few missing fingers, the man was still talking, still alive, and was not bleeding at all.

"You are much stronger and more experienced than I anticipated. There is no wonder I'm losing like a complete amateur to you. I thought that after reaching a certain age, I will be able to judge people more accurately. Looks like I was wrong."

The naked old man lifted himself up by supporting his upper body in his hands and started to tremble uncontrollably. Shortly after, another six arms that were more muscular than the other two came out from his back ripping his flash apart. It gave him the look of a human-like spider. Another two eyes opened at the sides of his head which only strengthened the image mentioned previously.

"You've been cursed. Does that make you immortal or what?" the girl asked unimpressed by his transformation.

"Hee, hee, hee! I didn't know either. I thought I was dead meat for a second. Looks like the power Emer has given me through her curse is stronger than I anticipated."

"So that's why you were suddenly able to move normally. The curse was helping you, unlike others. All this time you've been her spy in the village."

"Not a bad guess. That little brain of yours works faster than I thought," Paul was trying to mock her.

"I'll tell you. I made a pact with the witch. She's bestowed on me a small portion of her power in exchange for constant information about what happens around the village. I would have been a fool to reject such an offer."

"So all that regret and sadness around Anta's sacrifice was just an act to deceive us, while everything was going according to Emer’s plan." The girl was clearly affected by the truth.

"No, no, no. I actually got attached to her and loved her as if she was my wife. But with great power, comes great sacrifice that I am willing to accept."

"You're mentally sick," the girl said and started running towards him.

"Who cares about anything that happens to this world now? We are all dead because of the witches. No matter how tragic it is, I accepted this idea and I absolutely love my new body," he shouted as he sent multiple sharp branches from his palms and from underneath the ground, all aiming at B. This time his movements were sharper and faster, while his timing was better.

The beast girl lifted her foot off the ground as a branch almost bore into it and spun around to dodge another one coming from the front by a millimeter. He was getting closer to hitting her than before.

At that moment, the girl wished she didn't throw her sword into the tree at the start of the fight. It would have been extremely useful right now. It was a mistake that she had to deal with.

"You are alive right now because Anta asked me to save you. But if you can’t defeat me, you can’t save anyone. Consider this a test!" The mad old man added.

B kept on trying to get close to him, but she was forced back every time. There were so many branches and they were moving much faster than before making it difficult for the girl to reach the old man, especially without her weapon. Even worse, she was now on her back foot only focused on dodging so she won't die.

The hundreds of branches were moving so fast that she decided to run away as she was not able to keep up anymore. She quickly spun around on the spot and used the best opportunity she could find without hesitating. With a bit of momentum, she made herself disappear into the woods.

"Incredible how she managed to escape that situation. What a genius!" Paul was admiring her aptitudes.

B was now jumping from tree to tree, using the trunks and the branches in the woods to spin around and dodge. She was also cutting her way out of Paul's attacks using her claws.

"Got'ya, girl!" Paul said as he made the branch of the tree she was planning to use next sharper, scratching the girl's palms and making her lose balance and fall.

"Shit!" While trying to focus on her landing, the girl got hit upside down on the head and smashed to the ground by a thick branch coming from the old man’s body. She bounced up from the impact and got grabbed by the neck by two hands.

Paul was now running on two of his hands while holding the girl in mid-air by the throat. She tried to punch him and kick him, but she was not able to move as he was holding all her limbs tightly with his numerous muscular arms.

"Now I'll teach you how to punch, girl!" Paul said as he used one of his free arms to punch the girl in the stomach with all his might. Blood came out of her mouth and onto his face.

"Hee, hee!" he was smiling satisfied as he ran B through multiple trees breaking them and refusing to let her go. At the same time, he was punching her in the stomach alternating between the two free arms. There was nothing the girl could do and she was slowly losing her consciousness.

"I won't let you faint after what you did to me," Paul lifted her up a bit and smashed her to the ground with the back of her head.

"Aaaaaaaa!"

Right then, he heard footsteps from the left.

"Paul, you bastard!" Oliver screamed as he got out from a bush and tried to cut his head with a two-hand sword swing, while Akira and Luke attacked from the opposite side.

The old man saw them and was forced to let go of B's right leg to defend himself with three arms. That was his mistake as the girl used that opportunity to stick her toes into his chin and release her claws further up his head. She cut through his face all the way into the brain, making the old man unable to move an inch. B then pulled her foot to the side completely severing the front half of the head from the back half.

The cursed man finally let go of B and died. His body fell to its knees and his face on the ground. Despite thinking that he was immortal, he finally died.

The fight had been difficult and that was only an extremely small portion of the witch's power. The girl was sweaty, injured, and dirty from all the fighting. She turned around to her knees and coughed a few times before she was able to properly breathe again.

"Are you okay, B?" Oliver and Luke asked worried simultaneously.

The girl breathed in a few more times until she managed to regain her composure and stood up.

"Yo, children! I've never been better," she answered with a smile while rubbing the back of her head because it hurt really bad. She was clearly ashamed to be seen in this kind of situation and all the boys figured it out just by looking at her face.

She was tough, she was able to deal with the pain much easier than a normal human could and she did not break down no matter how hard her opponents hit her. Not to even mention her regenerative powers. The hand she rubbed her head with had blood on it, but she knew she would be okay.

Apparently, if someone can't kill B on the spot, then they can't kill her at all. She was a beast hard to kill and extremely well trained, but as proven now, there were still many forces in this world stronger than her.

She was young and sometimes naïve.

"B, can I ask you something?"

"Go right ahead, Oliver."

"Do you like one of the boys?"

"What the heck are you saying, Oliver?" Luke intervened blushing.

"No, I don't," she answered promptly without hesitating.

That was her answer. Whether it was true or not, they will probably never find out.

The last four survivors hit the road again. The path they were taking was full of mysteries, wonderful views, and unexpected encounters. They were now descending on the other side of the mountain heading down towards the sunrise and a thick, dark forest.

They were talking, laughing, and teasing each other despite the tragedy, completely denying their true feelings regarding the situation.
