B was now laying down in the pile of things thrown away by Anta. She had her eyes closed, was breathing heavily, and sweating. A few scraps of hair were sticking to her forehead as a result.
"Wow! You did it. That was teleportation magic. Incredible!" Oliver remarked.
"Luckily I had a hair from her, which allowed me to do it, but she is heavily injured," said the old woman.
Anta used magic to wet a piece of cloth and wipe the blood off the girl’s face.
"B is our only way out. Can't you heal her?" Oliver asked worriedly.
"Stop right there!" Paul shouted barging in.
"Healing magic requires energy life from the caster. At this age, healing the girl can mean her death."
"Her body is healing itself. It is almost as if someone else is healing her from the inside. Give her time, she will recover," the woman informed them.
"How did you get in, old man? Wasn't there a creature at the front door?"
"I slapped it," Paul replied taunting Oliver and went to check on B.
"Now you’re walking too?!"
"Never underestimate an old man, folks."
Anta was now holding an anti-stress ball in her hand which allowed her to focus on another spell. With two fingers, she wrote some strange symbols in the air that only she could understand. A green line similar to fairy dust was coming from her fingers and shortly disappearing behind.
"Souls and minds alike, connect!"
The woman's head suddenly tilted backward as if pulled by someone and her pupils withdrew leaving her eyes completely blank. She was now connected to the minds of all the villagers. Screams of agony, fear, and pain were the first things that came to her. Anta could hear all villagers and they could hear Anta. Such was the incredible power of a witch.
"Listen, good people. All these years of torment and fear were the result of a witch's curse upon our village. She's been playing with our hearts and our minds, which led us to this indescribable moment."
"Ah! At least I heard the voice of our mother in my final moment," were the thoughts of a man whose head was eaten a second later.
"God! Save us, Anta! We are so scared." A second reply came through to her.
"I'm hiding in the basement of my house. Please help. I'm so young!" Another villager was crying as the door to her room got smashed down.
"Pleaaaaseeeeeee!"
A tear fell down the old woman's cheek when she heard her people dying and crying.
"I'm making one last call to you all to shamelessly ask you to save your own lives as there is not much I can do now. Run, my people! Run to the back gate of the village as that is the only way out. Don't do it with panic because you will get caught. Hide, run, inspect the area, and only proceed further when you know it's safe."
The woman was feeling worse and worse with every minute. She swallowed dryly, breathed in, and spoke again. Her voice was getting weaker.
"Under no circumstances should you go back to the front gate! That's suicide. The queen of the witches is coming from there and she can easily spot you. That's all my dear people. God be with you all!"
"DON'T GO TO THE BACK GATE! I REPEAT, NO MATTER WHAT, DON'T GO TO THE BACK GATE! THERE IS SOME--" the random guy's voice got interrupted as Anta couldn’t hold the connection anymore and fell to her knees coughing blood.
"That's reckless, stupid baba!" Paul ran to her aid.
"Cut the crap!" The woman stood up and pushed Paul away.
"My moment has come, dear. Give the girl a piggy ride and head to the back gate. I know you can do it now. Oliver, you get the axe and protect them!"
"Understood!"
Anta took a wooden stick and used it as a walking cane to hurry outside the house.
"What are you doing?"
"I'll buy some time. There is no way we can escape that scummy witch otherwise."
"You better come back alive!" Paul warned the woman he loved for the past seven years, then took the girl on his back and went the opposite way together with Oliver. He already knew that Anta will not survive, but he also knew that this was the only chance of survival. Anta could not fight for humankind anymore and they needed a replacement. That was B. He decided he will keep his tears for later.
On the other side of the ruined settlement, somewhere close to the front gate, an awkward laugh came from a hunchbacked man.
"Hee, hee, hee, hee," Doctor Victor was laughing moving his shoulders up and down.
"What do you think of my art, master? Do you like the virus that I have created? I've also dug a hole underneath the fence to allow all your lovely babies inside."

"You did well, Victor!" was Emer's reply as she took her hand off his shoulder.
"Was I a good boy?"
"Lovely one!"
Despite being a grown-up, he was almost begging for her praise. She was the woman he adored and admired. Her confidence, her status as the queen among witches, her sexy voice, and the hot body she had were just a few reasons that compelled him to be at her service for the rest of his life. Maybe one day he will even get to sleep with her.
The two of them proceeded forward calmly while enjoying the tragic scene unfolding around them.
The first rays of the sun were making their way out from behind the mountains forcing monsters of all kinds to retreat to the woods. The natural light coming from the sun was hurting them making them unable to continue their rampage. As a result, Oliver and Paul's path ahead was clear.
"The sun is out! We should be safe now." Oliver remarked with enthusiasm.
"We are still forced to get outside the village and into the dark woods where the monsters came from. The witch is coming after us."
"Shit, you're right, Paul."
"It's there, the back gate is coming into view."
As soon as they got closer, they froze in place. Something was not right. People were sitting on the ground quietly as if they were students listening to their teacher. They were positioned in a circle in front of the open gate and around something big.
He didn't seem to be a monster, but he was definitely not a normal human either. The mutant creature was about three meters tall and had a huge muscular body. There were lots of bruises and cuts on his body. Stitches were poorly put in place and a deep scar came all the way from underneath its mask down the neck and to the right elbow.
Just a look at him could easily give someone a heart attack if taken by surprise. His brownish-dark mask seemed to be covering a face with no eyes, nose, or mouth as the wind was pushing it inside the three holes. His presence alone was instilling great fear.
Paul wanted to go hide quickly, but Oliver stopped him.
"Don't move. He is looking at you. He is studying you. Annoy him and you will die."
The old man's legs were shaking uncontrollably.
One of the villagers realizing the two have come, made a hand sign asking them to join the circle.
"We should do as he says. I think it's better this way."
"Let's do it," Paul replied with a trembling voice.
Just as agreed, the two slowly approached so as not to anger the mutant and carefully took a sit next to each other. Everyone looked scared out of their mind, but none dared to say a word or stand.
The masked mutant was simply sitting down resting his head on his right fist and holding an extremely thick weapon that looked like a baseball bat with small spikes on it. There was blood all over it betraying the fact that he's been here for some time killing people.
"Pssst." The only woman in the group whispered to Oliver.
"We were thirty people in the circle when all this crazy shit began. Now we are only ten. The moment someone loses his mind and either attacks him or tries to run, he kills. It's like he's teaching us to respect him. This is his territory right now."
Having heard all this, Oliver swallowed dryly.
Soon after the lady talked, the mutant stood up and approached her slowly. Meanwhile, a villager next to her looked down and started praying quietly hoping for forgiveness.
The masked man lifted his bat and waited for a few seconds. He then mercilessly hit the woman upside down straight in the head completely crushing her skull and her body halfway down. Blood, intestines, and organs went flying everywhere.
"AAAAAAAA!" a few people screamed, but none dared to run. The mutant was the law right now and everyone knew it.
It was as if he understood how the human brain worked and everything he did was to maximize the amount of fear he was emanating.
A few seconds later, after checking out everyone in the circle, the abnormally tall man took the bottom half of the woman's body (as the rest has been crushed) and ate the insides in front of the villagers. He then threw the empty leg to the villagers inviting them to eat.
A random man threw up despite trying to hold it in. Disgust and fear could now be read across everyone's faces.
"Eat!" A heavy voice came from the mutant's direction.
While everyone's attention was directed toward the other side of the circle, B woke up and started moving.
"Thank God!" Oliver’s eyes were filled with tears of joy now that their only hope was awake.
"Hey!" Oliver whispered trying to stop the girl, but she didn't care. She was limping to the guy that the mutant was expecting to take the first bite. Just as he was about to find out the taste of human meat, B grabbed the leg from him and slowly approached the huge man. She then used the limb to slap the mutant across his face with all her might.
"Don't come to my turf acting all bossy, you scrambled piece of shit!" the girl shouted angrily at him.
