I was full of delight. I still reminisced about the event when I met a man on the bridge.

For unknown hindsight, I couldn't erase his golden voice inside my head. His smile was still lingering in my eyes. I was thrilled so crazy.

Women of my age experienced this. But I didn't have any plan to vest myself into it.

My plan to unwind shifted a different vibe. An elated feeling I couldn't stop.

For the longest time that I had lived in this world, I wasn't trained to fight this. But what was this emotion inside my heart? I couldn't comprehend this. It was too powerful to resist its genuine emotion.

Whenever I resisted it, my heart pumped in and out rapidly. I always imagined a handsome face in front of me.

I shook my head horizontally and tried to think of something else.

'Pull yourself together. This is wrong. Very wrong!' I closed my eyes and held my breath.

But his soothing voice weakened my state. I panted for some reason.

'This is bad. Is this magic? But I don't feel any mana inside my body. I feel normal, but this is making me insane. I am thinking wrong. Is this an incurable curse? A curse, right? But I don't think he has the guts to do it, though,' I clutched my hands together, trying to fight this heavy feeling.

'He sounds normal to me,' I determined inside my head.

I looked for a safe place to hide. I chose the balcony behind the bread store. I sat down in a metal trash bin.

"Shit, I should never cross it," I gritted my teeth. "That place is definitely a haunted bridge!"

I slammed a hand against a wall.

This feeling was different from what I experienced. Whenever I wanted to seal my emotion, it would be done easily. But now, it was different. It was hard to resist.

Like if I didn't meet this person again, I might die.

"I can't fight this feeling anymore. I want to meet that person," I heaved a tiring sigh.

But thankfully, I successfully suppressed it when I received a message from Ms. Fredda, the secretary of my father.

I received the news about the incident. I immediately rushed to the [Fly High Institute], and I was surprised that a lot of government departments were already surrounding it.

I was about to sneak in, but someone tapped my right shoulder to get my attention.

I placed a hand on my chest and heaved a sigh of relief.

"Father, I heard about it. Why you didn't call for my help? You got me, you know," I shifted my face at the person who was standing behind me. "My dear, stop it. It's fine. By the way, the location of your room is not in the institute building. It's at the opposite of this place, you know that," my father answered with his hands behind his waist.

I hung my head down in respect.

"My apologies, but I didn't know this would happen," I apologized. "Stop it. You're not at fault," my father approached me in a distance.

'But your office had been attacked when I was taking a break outside of this area,' I clicked my tongue.

"Father, I promise. This will never happen again," I proclaimed promptly. "You're being too emotional, Lixue. This incident is just a short accident that shouldn't be dwelled on further," my father touched my shoulders and smiled at me.

"Who was it?" I inquired. "I know you will take revenge, but the issue is no longer necessary to disclose, my dear,' my father refused to answer.

"As I said before, I want to know his name. Who did it?" I insisted. "Good grief. You're really my daughter. Stubborn in the end. Okay, fine. You won. It's one of your admirers. Zuelo the Gunning man," my father surrendered.

His bodyguards appeared and surrounded us.

'The Longzist are here now? That means the damage the son of a bitch caused made the secretary summon them quickly,' I commented with an icy gaze.

Longzist were the notable national guard of our family. They received a rank of SS-class assassins who were trained to protect and serve the Mingxi family. They're devoted and committed to their job.

'When things go wrong, they will not hesitate to take their own life,' I stated.

"If they are here, it means you suffered some injuries, right?" I worried. "Yes, but it is a mild injury in the chest. But it will mend. You don't have to look at me with a puppy-looking eye, my dear," my father gurgled in laughter.

I pouted with a poker face.

"Father, this is not the time to laugh it off. We need to find him," I advised. "You don't have to," my father feigned no interest.

"No, we need to. Why aren't you preparing a group to chase after them? Don't tell me you're going to let them go?" I was fuming. "No, calm down. That's not what I want to say," my father reluctantly denied.

'Bear in mind, they might cause another problem. We better form a search party right now before they escape, father!' I demanded inside my head.

"Father," I stated with a grave tone. "Hmm?" my father looked at me with a worried look.

'I will avenge you,' I clenched my fist tightly.

"Listen to me, you don't have to worry. Rest assured, I, Lixue Mingxi, will bring this honorable gift immediately. I will never stop until the end. I swear in our ancestors' soul that it will be done," I was about to excuse myself, but he stopped me. "Stop it. You don't have to do it, my dear," my father implored.

"Step aside, father. He dared to harass the Clanmaster of the Mingxi and terrorized the building of our business. He crossed the line too far. He must pay. And I will finish what he started," I tried to pass him, but two of his bodyguards blocked my path. "Lixue, please listen to your father at once," my father rumbled his feet on the surface, a small crack in the size of his shoes left a mark.

I flinched upon hearing it. I gulped my saliva and stood firm professionally.

But I took a courage to express my feelings.

"Why not? Tell me, what I'm missing here?" I inquire with an icy tone. "About that, you're already late. The man responsible for this mess is actually gone," my father declared, smiling.

"Pardon? He's dead?" I faltered. "Yes, it is what you heard loud and clear, my dear. Zuelo is already dead. You don't have to waste your energy to hunt down a corpse," my father touched a hand on my shoulder to comfort me.

I hung my head down again in disbelief.

"Who... who saved you?" I demanded. "Why do you want to know?" my father teased. "Father, I need to know. I insist," I implored with my lips pursed.

"What will you do after I tell you his name?" quizzed my father with his lips pursed. "I want to reward him. I want to repay his kindness and honor him as the hero of the Mingxi clan. I want to show him our deepest gratitude like that, father," I responded emotionlessly.

"L-Lixue, you sound like you're going to cut his throat to take the credit instead. Never mind, you need to relax a bit. Sooner or later, we will meet him soon," my father perplexed. "Huh?" I titled my head with a confused look. "You know what? He will pay a visit to our hotel sooner or later. We just need to prepare a hero's welcome. Be patient. I'm planning to have a banquet for their arrival. Hopefully, he will bring his master together with him. So, don't kill my savior," my father gurgled in laughter as he rubbed his neck.

'Isn't it normal to kill the person who saved you? I want to take the credit, dad!' I pouted.

"Does mother know what happened today?" I asked with a curious tone. "No, I don't think it is necessary, my dear," my father stopped laughing, and he gulped his saliva upon hearing my mother.

My icy eyes turned sharp my lips flattened.

"Father... No, Daddy. You know she will never let it slide completely. Only God knows what crazy things she will do after she learns about this. Plus, there's no doubt mother will take a plane to pay a visit here," I folded my arms across my chest. "Lixue, this is not the right time to discuss it here. How about we walk somewhere that outsiders could witness and hear the story?" my father requested. "Yes, father. Let's go somewhere else safe," I agreed.

We walked together like father and daughter to the hotel, only five minutes away from the institute building.

"By the way, where have you been earlier?" my father inquired. "I was at the eastern bloc of Werrist Town," I responded with a cold tone.

"The shopping district?" my father's left eyebrows raised up. "Yes, it is the place. I went there to unwind my mind," I replied emotionlessly.

Not only the place refreshed my mind, but I also met an interesting person.

I smiled subconsciously.

"Hmm, this is the first time to see my daughter smiling. Normally, you will produce a cold miasma around you. But now, it is different. Looking at you, you were very happy when I mentioned it. Did something happen?" my father was curious. "It is nothing special. Don't bother about it," I shifted my face to the other side, preventing him to see my blushing face.

"Did you find a beautiful outfit or an expensive gem in the town?" my father quizzed, smiling. "No, it is not an object to be called upon," I heaved a sigh.

He was bewildered at my answer.

"Wait, hold up," my father blocked my path with his hand. "Yes?" I tilted my head with a curious gaze. "It is not an item or something? I'm sorry for this. But I hope it is not what I am thinking," my father shuddered. His calloused hand was trembling in anger.

"Father, I don't know why are you mad right now. Can you please be civilized?" I scolded. "Oh, I'm sorry. I don't mean to scare you, my dear. It is just part of my mannerism to react like this," my father rubbed his neck with smiling teeth.

"Then, why did you turn into a bestial man earlier? I answered you properly, though," I folded my arms across my chest and interrogated him promptly. "My dear daughter, calm down. Your father is not mad about your response. It is just a fatherly instinct, no, fatherly love that I produced earlier," my father grabbed my hand and covered it with his hands.

'Huh?' I was confused.

"What do you mean?" I inquired. "Okay, hear me out. This is a normal reaction for a parent. I just want you to know. That... I love you. I gave you freedom, but it doesn't mean you are obliged to break away immediately. Y-you're too young to leave our side. Your mother might approve of this, but it is different now. We are living in a new era," my father trembled.

"Yes, father. I will," I nodded although I didn't understand it properly. "Good. Very good. Remember that. Always," my father heaved a sigh of relief.

''By the way, let me tell you this. I am referring to a person, okay? A living thing like us. So, stop exaggerating, daddy. " I raised a finger to clarify it. "P-p-pardon? Lixue. Stop tripping," my father shattered.

"I'm not tripping. What is wrong with you right now? Your daughter told you everything, you know. I just met an interesting man," I smiled. "A... A man? Oh, my loving Buddha, Lixue... Don't tell me... you went to the Werrist bridge?" my father touched my shoulders with his calloused hands. "Father, no, daddy, stop it. You're hurting me too much," I resisted.

"Tell me, did you cross the bridge, Lixue?" my father insisted. "Yes, I crossed it earlier," I responded, cocking my head.

He diverted his shaky eyes away from my sight.

"Shit, this is bad. Is it a curse or something? Did she inherit it from her mother too? My God, this is madness," my father muttered aside. "Is there something wrong, dad?" I fretted. "No, but this definitely will change your life forever, my dear," my father released me and turned around.

"Lixue, remember this. You met a terrible person. He will ruin your life forever. Listen to me, okay? I advise you to forget about this person. He is definitely a beast who will eat you alive. He will take you away from me. I mean, from us. Believe me, my dear. The superstitious belief is a fraud. That's just a fantasy made by elders. Got it?" my father warned. "But... I don't get it. Wait for a second here. That's different from what mother told me before," I pouted.

"Ah, shit. Look at the time, it's already time for recess. Let's eat first and forget about it," my father changed the subject. "O-okay, if you say so," I agreed.

'Father, you dummy. You and mom met on the same bridge, though,' I stated.
