On the second floor of the adventurers guild. The man known as the guild master is enjoying a cup of tea while looking over the profiles of the examinees. The tests for them was today and his examiner, Gerald should be finished with them soon. He yawns and thinks back on the past few days.
A mysterious beast girl came into the town yesterday and came in to the guild to register. This wouldn't normally be anything to give a crap about. It's what happened at the guild when she came in that was the problem. The D rank adventurer, Enrique reports directly to him about anything odd about people's statuses. Yesterday though, he came barging into his office.
He proceeded to tell me that this little beast girl was able to use a high level stealth skill. Once more she was able to block a level three Appraisal skill. People don't like their status looked at but normally such a skill is hard to aquire. Let alone get it to a high enough level to completely block a appraisal skill like that. Once more, he couldn't appraise her gear as the skill also stopped him from appraising that as well. She then released a large amount of killing intent toward Enrique after she blocked it. It was why he was so shaken up. Usually, killing intent only accumulates after someone has killed or has knowingly assisted in the killing of others. This power can then be directed at others to mentally attack another. This power was inherent and all living things possessed it. For a little girl to have so much at such a young age is unthinkable.
The guild master was brooding over how to handle her when the examiner came to report the results of the test.
"How many passed your test?" I asked. There was twenty examinees this time.
"One", he said seemingly ashamed.
"Was it the beast girl Karla?" I ask.
"Yes", he answers simply.
"How'd she do it?" I ask him.
"She summoned a box of some metal around herself my hammer couldn't even dent it", he said frustrated.
"So she didn't show you any of her offensive capibilties?" I ask him.
"No, she stayed in the box for the whole ten seconds", he answers back bitterly.
If her defensive capibilties are this good her offensive ones are either just as strong or just a tad weaker. The thing is she's a Weapons Trainee, yet she is so skilled in earth magic. Manipulating metal is the hardest thing for an earth mage. There was only one other who could manipulate metal in the past. But that its practically a legend at this point. Considering this revelation about her, no knew about her abilities but Gerald an I though. The guild doesn't reveal the capabilities of adventurers as a part of the rules. Asking about another adventurers abilities is also looked down upon. So if she wants to keep her abilities a secret then so be it.
Gerald was a skilled adventurer and examiner. He was raised by the guild master and they trust each other greatly. They often worked together to help adventurers that had issues.
"What do you think of her?" The guild master asks.
"Hmm. She is strong but I can't sense any ill intent coming from her. She moves with a purpose and doesn't say more than she needs to. She constantly activates her stealth skill to avoid the attention of the other adventurers. If you aren't looking directly at her you don't notice her at all. I think we should just monitor her for now." He explained his thoughts and the guild master nods.
"We need someone who can watch her undetected. Enrique has stealth skills but she is already wary of him. If she finds out he's spying on her, considering her strength, I would worry about his safety", Gerald says while putting his hand on his forehead and rubbing it.
"We will have to wait for Beatrice then. She has recently maxed out her stealth skill. She could properly defend herself against Karla as well if worse comes to pass", the guild master proposes.
"That will work, but what about the Viscount? That request can only be taken by her. She's the only B rank in this town and we don't have a single C rank at all", Gerald points out.
"She can monitor her after that request. We will have to pray that Karla won't go anywhere before then. I'll set it as a guild request for her so she can meet her last requirement to take the A rank test." The guild master concludes.
"Seems we have a plan now", Gerald says.
"Use this item it'll completely hide your presence for the day. Use it to find out where she's staying." The guild master opens a drawer in his desk and pulls out a metallic ball with several engravings on it.
Secrecy Sphere (Legendary)
A man who prided himself on his superior stealth capabilities sacrificed his skill to create this item.
When used none can notice your presence for a whole day.
Cool down: 1 month
"You give her so much credit that you'll use this to find out more. I agree with you on this though" Gerald says, smiling.
"She's a walking weapon with no master as far as I can tell. Imagine if she was manipulated, she's just a kid. From what I've heard now she could level the city if she wanted to. I don't like seeing kids act that way its not right", the guild man scratches his head while turning away.
"I'll make sure to find out everything I can. From what you told me years ago, you used to be much like her", Gerald says with a laugh.
"I suppose you're right. Go now before she gets too far", he urges Gerald to hurry.
"Right", Gerald leaves without another word.
That night, he came back to tell the guild master what she has checked out of the inn and seemingly fled into the forest.

"How did you lose her?" The guild master asks completely taken aback. Although he carries a large hammer, his speed is is great. He shouldn't be outrun by a kid like her.
"When she got out of the gates she immediately made a beeline for the forest. I gave chase but she climbed into the canopy and I lost track of her", he explained.
"So on top of using high level chantless magic her agility is also high. If she was on the ground could you keep up with her?"
"I think so. I only lost her after she climbed up in the canopy", Gerald confirms.
"I don't think she plans on leaving the city yet though. She was staying at inn, but she took a tour of most of the city while observing everyone. It looks like she realized that staying at inn would bring unwanted attention to her. She is definitely a smart girl", Gerald continues.
"So instead of living in the slums, she chose the forest? She can't be afraid of the people that live there, considering her strength. She must be trying to avoid ANY attention if she's willing to go such lengths", the guild master broods.
"Even for someone trying to hide their strength, this is excessive. it's almost like she doesn't want to deal with anyone including her own people", Gerald adds.
"Perhaps the reason that is ties into why she's so strong. If that's the case something must have happened to her in the past", the guild master looks down.
What kind of trauma could make a kid her age act this way? Did she get over it in a sense? If she's comfortable living in the forest then why come to city? Is she sick? Unfinished business perhaps?
Seeing the guild master drowning in his thoughts Gerald spoke up.
"Even if that's the case the fact that she's here now means something has changed for her. Although she still doesn't talk to people that much, she probably has a goal in mind. Since there seemed to be no ill will coming from her, we can try and help her. Most of the time she only talks to people she needs something from", Gerald says. The guild master thinks for a moment.
"She's at "that" age. Right?" the guild master seems to say randomly. Taken aback Gerald thinks on it for a moment and nods.
"It's a gamble but I think we might have some information she'd like. There's a medicine that all beastman carry nowadays that stops the process of going into heat. When she experiences this for the first time, it'll be our chance to get her build some trust. You can buy some of that medicine and wait for that to happen. Then explain where you got it from", the guild master explains his plan.
"Cruel, but effective", Gerald replies with wry smile.
"Gotta start somewhere", the guild master replies waving him off.
"We can't just throw her into a party of G ranks and expect her to make friends. She seems to have been through a lot. Doing small favors like this will help her build some trust again", the guild master adds.
"You're quite a softie on her and you have yet to see her in person", Gerald teases.
"From what it sounds like, she needs someone to be kind to her. If she can become more sociable, shell become a great asset to the guild", the guild master gives an excuse.
"Sure, I'll believe that", Gerald says, smiling and turning to leave.
"Fox kin say they only let the people they trust feel thier tails after all...." The guild master mutters as the door closes the door behind him.
