"Interesting", I muttered as the toad man left the guild.

Finding a cure huh? Perhaps it's possible in a world of magic maybe? Diseases are incurable on earth. We only treat the symptoms as it's those that kill you. I have the white magic attribute but I haven't been able to manifest it at all. Of course the guy that makes things specialized in killing people can't manifest healing magic. Not surprising to me. I only knew what my third attribute was until listening to those conversations at the guild. Ill need to learn more about it later. For now though I'm going to leave the guild.

However, as I try to leave a gruff man with an even larger sword then Appraisal Pervert calls out to me. Are the men around here compensating for something? A guy with a large sword, and even bigger guy with an impossibly large hammer and now this guy with an even bigger sword.

"Hey you, you're new around here wanna join our party? We can reach you the basics", he offers. He doesn't look like he has bad intentions but, I don't intend to get involved with anyone still. If I were to join a party my strength would gradually get revealed to everyone and attract attention that I don't want nor need.

"See our party lost our mage a few months ago and we've lost our efficiency a bit. We could become a C ranked party in a few months depending on how good you are with your magic", he says while giving my staff an admiring look.

"Thanks for the offer but, I plan to be solo. Plus I'm not interested in ranking up fast", I deny him by giving him a pretty good reason.

"You think you're better then us or something?" one of his party member asks in a angry tone. It's a woman but, she has developed her body quite well. She hasn't lost any of her charm though. Her breasts are quite large as well. I take notes on the rest of the party's appearances to avoid them later.

"No, it's just that the last time I was in a group I was backstabbed", I counter. It's technically true. I did spend decades of my life working for the government only for them to kill me when I was to retire to keep their secrets hidden. She flinches at my statement and her angry mood is completely dispelled.

"Sorry", she says simply.

I don't say anything and turn to leave again. I get stopped again though and I'm pissed off more then I normally would be. I don't bother to listen and without looking, I conjure a spikes made of obsidian that dance around me. The pest stops speaking and I leave the guild without further incident.

"What is up with me?"

I cant remember if women can have mood swings before their first period. If that's what it is it'll be a problem for me. I haven't got the slightest clue how to go about taking care of a women's needs in this world let alone how to control those bursts of emotions.

I sigh and go to sell some more of my stockpile of materials to the brother from the other day. When I get to his stall he just finished up some business with another customer.

"Yo", I give him a casual greeting.

"Oh, its you. I presume you want to sell some materials?" Quick on the uptake. Good for business.

"You betcha", I said. I wanted to get more meat from that stand from yesterday. I was running low on money so I needed to sell more of my stockpile.

"Alright what do you got? Also after we're done can I get you to get some herbs for me? I have a client who is looking for higher quality ones. She's willing to pay anything and I'd like to get into her good graces" he tells me.

I think I'll take this opportunity to ask something of him.

"Does she know how to read?" I ask him.

"Yeah she is a researcher. Why? You looking to learn?" He saw right through me.

"Yeah, I wanted to be able to read and write so I can read the requests at the guild", I explain. I also need to able to read if I want to find a way home too, but I'll keep that to myself.

"If I add that she'll have to teach you, will you take my request?" He asks.

"Indeed", I confirm. I don't want to go asking around for someone to teach me. It's a good way to get tricked or even worse.

"Alright, I'll talk to her today, I doubt she'll have a problem with it. I'll need you to come by tomorrow though. Alright?" He says to me.

"Okay. Now that that's done, let's get down to it,  shall we?" I confirm and change the subject.

"Sure", he says. I sold my materials and left his stall.

I made my way to the meat stand from yesterday. Since it's still early, perhaps I can do a small barbecue deep in the woods. I still have the meat from yesterday, but I want to check if he has any other parts of the animal I can enjoy. I want some ribs..... although I don't think they have barbecue sauce in this world though. I walk to the stand and see that he is selling them, but no one is buying them.

"Hehe. More for me", I can already feel my mouth watering over the taste of grilled ribs.

On the annual birthday of my country, we celebrated by going outside to grill food, drink, set off fireworks, and even hang out at the beach. It was fun to see all the smiling faces as everyone was eating and enjoying themselves on such events. Americans did tend to eat a lot on every major holiday though, at least the ones who could afford it. While I continue to reminisce it becomes my turn in line.

"Oh, it's you again! What can I get my champion beast girl this fine afternoon?" he greets me with a genuine smile.

"I see your selling the ribs but no one is buying them. Why is that?" I ask.

"Usually only alchemists by them they use them in antidotes since the animal this meat comes from is immune to most poisons", he explains.

Hmm. What I ate was probably a type of monster then.

"What monster does this come from?", I ask. If I can hunt it myself I can avoid paying for it.

"Demon ox. They are very large cow-like monsters. Thier meat is expensive because of how dangerous the are. It's a D rank monster after all", he tells me. So it's a no go for me then. If someone saw me take one down, that information could spread. No thanks.

"I'll buy the ribs off you if want", I offer.

"Are you an alchemist? You don't look the part", he says raising an eyebrow.

"I'm immune to poison", I responded simply. While true, it was my gear that made me immune.

"You're kidding" he said.

"Nope" I reply.

"Fine. They'll go bad anyway if I keep them any longer. If you die it's not on me alright?" He says. I won't die but from his perspective it's reasonable.

"Sure. How much?" I ask.

"All of it will be one gold coin", he tells me.

"Sure", I take out a gold coin and flick it to him with my thumb.

He hands me the ribs and I store them away. I immediately make my way to the gate to start my barbecue in the woods. The guard is surprised to see me leaving again. He'll get used to it eventually. At least, until I leave after checking this city top and bottom for information. I dash toward the forest thinking about tearing into into some ribs for tonights dinner.
