I wake up early to stretch my body in preparation for the test. I feel irritated for seemingly no reason. I need to get that under control. It might be a signal for that time of the month for a girl. I've been avoiding addressing the issue of my gender change. I'm also in the dark if my race changed the way it works. If it does I'll be completely helpless.

I can't focus on that right now though I throw on my robe and head out of the inn. I see people getting their stalls ready for the day. When I get close to the guild thier are already people heading inside. That might have something to do with thier job but until I find out more I can't be certain of anything. I enter the guild with my stealth turned off and head to a table in the corner of the guild and take a seat.

I'm going to observe the daily operations of this place to become familiar with it. It seems adventurers come here earlier to get the better quests. Lower ranked people tend to come in later and just take the herb gathering or the goblin subjugation these quests are always available. I also learned the average age for someone to register was ten years old. I was happy that I'm just made the cut. As to how I learned all this? I'm using my enhanced hearing to listen to thier conversations. While I was in line yesterday, I was practicing picking out conversations I wanted to hear.

Before I knew it was close to noon. They had a clock on the wall that made telling time easy as long as you were in the guild. The receptionist was the same from yesterday.

"I'll lead you to the training area", he motions for me to follow him. We head to back of the guild and out the door that leads to a very large training area. I say large but it was no where near as large as the one I used for practice in my forest home.

There are other examinees here and they are all around my age. I don't remember much about my earlier middle school years but, I distinctly remember it as a bad time. I unconsciously shudder and turn my attention to the right side of the training area. A large man with an equally large hammer is sitting on a chair looking bored. His arms are about as tall as me, each. There is so much muscle on this guy you'd have to ask; When don't you work out?

"Alright shrimps, listen up! If you can last ten seconds against me you pass aight?" Everyone seems to agree on this so I guess I will to. We go in order according to sign up date so I'll be going last.

None them laster more than two seconds. The examiner would hit handle and knock them to the floor before they could even react. Sure enough none of them passed I was the last one to fight him.

I walk deeper into the training ground with my hood still covering the majority of my face. The other examinees already left so it was me and him.

"You ready", he asks me, seemingly bored.

"Yes", I answer.

The match starts. My goal is to defend myself. I won't fight him directly. Instead Ill encase myself in a metal box until ten seconds pass.

"Encase", I say. Immediately a cube of pure tungsten steel is fitted around me. I made it a foot thick. I smile to myself.

"Get through this tough guy", I say while counting down the seconds. I can hear his weapon slamming against the box trying to pierce through it. When the ten seconds are up I dispell the box

"That wasn't fair at all", he says.

"Yeah, why?" I ask.

"You pass. Let's go get you registered", he says, ignoring the question. Is he pouting?

I shrug and we head inside the guild. He still doesn't know what I look like yet because even that battle didn't make my hood move an inch.

"She passed?", The receptionist asks.

"Yes", hammer boy replies.

"Understood", we complete the registration process. He explained the rules to me and I memorized everything. It was just the rules about fights between adventurers, party rules, ranking up, and the quests and their rewards.

I was more interested in the identification and when we were finished I left the guild ina hurry. I was hungry. I hadn't eaten anything yet.

I use my nose and locate a smell I've been missing since coming to this world. Beef. Oh sweet beef. I see a stand selling what looked like steak, though the pieces were much larger. I get in line and eagerly await my turn.

When it's finally my turn I turn my eyes to the biggest steak I've ever seen. The shopkeeper notices this.

"If you can eat the entire thing in two minutes it's free and if you don't that's twenty silvers", I wanted to have some fun. I've been stressed out too much lately. I need to let loose and indulge myself. I had plenty of monster materials to sell so money wasn't an issue.

"You're on", I put the coins on the table. He hands me the piece of steak. I have to hold this thing with two hands. He brings out a watch and counts down.

"5..4..3..2..1.. Go!" He shouts. I immediately take a huge bite. I missed this flavor but this was no time to savor it. I chew it only as needed. I finish the thing with ten seconds to spare.

"Well done! Young miss, even for a beastman this challenge is very tough! As promised it's free. Did you want to still purchase some meat though?" He looks to be in a very good mood after seeing me stuff myself silly.

"Yeah, give me as much as ten silvers will buy me", I answer him while rubbing my stuffed belly. He laughs at my answer.

"You got it", he grabs various pieces of meat and puts them in a leather pouch.

"Thanks", with my stomach full, I'm feeling sleepy. Guess I'll head back to inn. On the way there I spot a weapons shop. From what I can see all the gear is inferior to what I can make. I'll blend in for now but I need to continue practicing my Appraisal Block skill to able to keep my strength hidden.

After my nap in the inn I decide to take a walk around the city.

The city is separated into three parts; the noble area, the slums, and small middle class areas. Although, most nobles tend to live in the center of the city. The nobles that don't are either poor or trying to accomplish something for the common folk. The marquis from the carriage is one of such nobles. The parts of the city that I consider middle class are usually for higher ranked adventurers. Even staying at my inn could surprise people. It could also attract unsavory characters. I don't consider myself poor, but I'd have to live in the slums to keep a lower profile. If that's the case I'd rather live in the forest and only go to the city for information. I feel at peace in the forest. Over the past five years of living there I find it to be where I'm the most calm. I was always working on a project for the government in my past life. I didn't have the luxury of vacation time so I never experienced nature.

I end my tour of the city and check out of the inn. The innkeeper was surprised I was checking out in the evening. Understandable, but I already made up my mind. As soon as I leave the inn again I activate my stealth skill and head for the gate. The guards let me through with no problem and I run to the forest.

"Even though it's only been two days, I missed you so much", I smile to myself and disappear into the comfort of it's canopy.

The next morning I wake up high in a tree. I used to go on hunts all the time in the forest, so I was used to sleeping in trees like this. I stretch out my arms and legs and hang from the tree with only my legs.

"When I get back to earth I'm definitely living in Canada. I can't see myself living in a place without trees." I laugh to myself as I realized I just became a gun wielding monkey. I hop from branch to branch heading towards the city. I had already stored my staff away in my magic bag. My cloak didn't get in the way of my movement either.

I make it back to the gate just as the sun reaches its highest peak. Perhaps I stayed a little too far in the forest, whoops. I go through the process at the gate again and head for the adventurers guild. I already memorized the image that the herb gathering quest had and used it to collect some herbs on the way to the city. When I get to the guild I see the Appraisal pervert again. I shoot him another death glare as he looked like he was about to strike up a conversation with me. He shrunk back into his position after my perfect stare.

When I observed the other adventurers yesterday I realized that on average, most of them gathered on average ten herbs so I picked thirteen. The reason I did this was to slowly get promoted. They weren't worth much but I planned to get most of my income from the merchant anyway. We both profit I can sell my materials in a place that won't expose me. He gets a big discount on high quality materials. In a good mood I head to the counter. The receptionist greets me and I explain that I gathered some herbs for the request. I told him that I gathered them yesterday and decided to sell them today. He believed my story and processed the request. He handed me a silver coin and I finished my business.

I turn to the leave the guild only to see an angry toad faced man entering at the same time.

"Don't let this concern me please". I pray.

The man walks angrily to the reciptionist I was just at almost knocking me over. Being short, that was to be expected but this guy looks like he could have a stigma against me. My hoods been down the entire time and I didn't have my stealth skill in use, so it was to be expected. He started yelling at the reciptionist.

"I placed the request two weeks ago! It's only a simple herb! How has no one at least taken the request yet?!" He shouted angrily.

"That particular herb grows in a particularly dangerous part of the forest only C ranks could fulfill that request. The reward is quite high but, we don't have any C ranks or above here in the guild", the receptionist explained calmly. The man takes a deep breath and calms down realizing the situation. Interesting. Here I thought he'd blame the guild or make more of a scene.

"Fine then, I'll wait till Beatrice gets back. Put it as a special request for her, please", the reciptionist nods. She writes the information down. The man rubs his temples as he turns. Only I can hear what he mutters next.

"I'm so close the cure. Who knew after all this time it was that herb that was the missing piece", he mutters as he leaves the guild.
