I clench my hands on the handle of my blade and slowly make my way near the two mole rats without them noticing my presence and once I’m near the two of them I take a solid stance and ready my blade. With my blade at the ready off to my right side, I flex my arms and legs at the same time and lunge forward, cleaving through the first mole rat's neck like a hot knife through butter as he was digging into the wall.
The blade continues on to the second mole rat as it seems to detect the danger to its life at the last second, it tries to turn but it’s too late for it to react. My blade continues cleaving through the mole rat's head at a 45-degree angle, while I turn towards the remaining mole rat, leaving the one mole rat I just dealt with spraying blood from its decapitated torso and the other in a similar condition.
I then release my left hand from the handle of my blade and place the nonserrated portion of Guillotine on my right shoulder with my right hand continuing to tightly grip the handle of my weapon.
Foregoing stealth for maximum speed and I charge the last remaining mole rat. While I’m charging over, the mole rat seems to detect me at about the halfway mark and begins to turn towards me.
I arrive about a second later in front of the mole rat now facing towards me with its mouth wide open. I raise my blade with my right hand and grasp it with my left and then swing it down while flexing my arms, cleaving right through its body top to bottom with the tip of the blade going about an inch into the rock below.
I give my blade a tug and it slides right out of the rock while the mole rat's body splits in half in the process and blood begins to pool rapidly around it, so I take a step back so it doesn't get all over my boots. I then scan my surroundings for any immediate danger and find none. So I attach Guillotine back onto the magnetic attachment point on my back and say aloud to myself. “Well, that was easy, though there were only three of them.”
I take a few moments to process the fight and notice two things, that being the mole rats down here in the mine can’t seem to see but they can detect you from the vibrations of your movement and possibly smell though I will have to do some tests to confirm whether that is the case or not. Moving on from that there isn’t really anything of value I can retrieve from their corpses, other than maybe turning it into plant food but the plants might take in the radiation, and if it's a food crop that could be potentially problematic. So maybe not such a good idea.
After thinking for a bit I decided to check my Pip-Boy to see what the average amount of experience points a mole rat is worth. I open up my Pip-Boy then time freezes and a holographic screen pops up like usual displaying.

Well, it would appear a normal mole rat is worth about 20 experience points and about 35 experience points in my case after adding my experience point modifier. I look down towards my skills and see melee weapons and sneak went up by one point each. I wonder whether combat has an effect on skill gain rate and there is a very good chance that that is the case. But both those skills may have been just sitting on the border of increasing though, so I shall see.
I don’t notice any other changes so I close the Pip-boy screen and time resumes when I’m hit in the face by the smell of blood and the idea of testing whether a mole rat's sense of smell is any good pops back into my head. “Well, this is as good an opportunity as any so might as well.”
I back up two dozen feet and wait to see if my recent kills bring anything out, about 15 minutes later I start to hear hurried movement coming towards the three mole rat corpses. I then make out a dozen mole rats storming over towards the dead mole rats, I observe them for a few minutes watching them prod the corpses and become more and more agitated as time goes on.
Then after a while, one of the larger mole rats of the group issues a chirp and one mole rat starts to break off from the group towards the depths of the mine.
