Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Massacre

As soon as the Mini Nukes arrived at their destinations and went off the buildings they hit started to have some of their floors collapse which most likely killed some more raiders that I couldn't see and as all this was happening my robots simultaneously fired at the dozen raider snipers positioned across the surrounding buildings with their laser rifles.

 

*RUMBLE*

 

*Bzzzt Bzzzt Bzzzt…*

 

A moment later they managed to kill 10 out of the 12 raider snipers before they then started swapping over to their other weapons to deal with the raiders below while I started spooling up my gatling gun to deal with the last two remaining snipers in a second.

 

*Brrrt*

 

As soon as I had finished shredding the last of the remaining raider snipers I kept Mulcher spooled and looked at the surroundings to see how the raiders were reacting to our surprise attack to see if we needed to retreat and change positions since all it would take to put me down is one missile hitting me directly in the torso or a well placed .308 AP round to the face.

 

But fortunately what I saw below was a disorganized mess of raiders that were either fleeing, panicking, or trying to find cover so I took this chance along with my bots to start dealing as much damage as we possibly could.

 

*Brrrrrrt Brrrrrrt Brrrrrrt*

 

*Booom*

 

*Booom*

 

*Booom…*

 

As we were putting out as much damage as we possibly could I took what I presume was a .308 round to the chest which ricocheted since it didn’t have the penetration to go through so I pulled back and looked around to see where it came from. Two seconds passed before I spotted another sniper hiding on the 10th floor of one of the buildings to the northwest across the street so pointed my still spooling Mulcher at the raider and let loose another storm of lead shredding the raider to pieces.

 

Once that raider was dealt with I scanned the surrounding area again while a cacophony of gunfire, explosions, and laser fire were going off in the surrounding area and after ten seconds passed I didn’t spot anything so I went back to the shattered windows and continued laying down fire over the area killing many raiders moments later.

 

10 Minutes later into the slaughter I spotted a huge amount of raider reinforcements coming from the depths of the ruins and if I had to take a guess at their numbers I would say there were at least a few hundred of them charging over in this direction and as they were getting closer I could see they sporadically had some raiders in makeshift power armor which was just a normal power armor frame with an amalgamation of rusted metal plates all welded together to form a suit of most likely pretty sturdy armor.

 

Well, they got power armor time to get out of dodge but before that, I can probably kill off quite a few of the normally armored raiders before I go and I might even be able to get a few lucky kills on the ones in makeshift power armor.

 

As soon as I had finished that thought I issued a command with mech-deru to my bots to start retreating down the stairwell as fast as they possibly could since they were slower than me and I didn’t particularly need their firepower anymore at this point.

 

So as my bots were retreating down the stairwell I pointed Mulcher in the raiders general direction and held the trigger while also making a side-to-side sweeping motion that then decimated a good amount of the incoming raider reinforcements. But a majority of the ones in power armor looked like they were still in relatively good condition though I could see that I fucked up some of them luckily.

*Brrrrrrrrrt*

 

Once I was dry and a significant amount of the remaining raider reinforcements hiding behind cover I put away my Mulcher gatling gun for now and raced down the stairs after my bots so we can make an escape since I noticed that a good amount of the power armor equipped raiders were carrying heavy weapons ranging from fat men mini-nuke launchers to multi-barrel missile launchers once they were close enough and I didn’t want to take any chances with a miniature nuke being lobbed at me.

 

As I was racing down the steps the building started to shake from what I presume to be missiles impacting the building so I turned my speed up a notch and continued flying down the steps.

 

Moments later I reached the ground floor of the building where my bots were waiting for me so I signaled for them to follow me while I activated my stealth field. We then ran out the back door of the building and retreated to the southeast off of the roads into the wilderness.

 

When we got a bit distance I heard a rumbling sound so I turned around to see what was happening. What I saw was the collapse of the building we were just in a short while ago.

 

“Those mother fuckers actually took the building down thank god I got out of there when I did. Well, let's continue getting some more distance guys.” I said to my bots before I heard 10 simultaneous rodgers a split second later.

 

A few minutes later we made quite a bit of distance from the war zone so I had my bots hold up for a second while I swapped out Mulcher’s empty magazine. I then took Mulcher out and started swapping its current empty magazine with a new fully loaded one and as I was doing that I simultaneously checked my robots for any damage with mechu-deru.

 

Once I was done reloading and checking my bots for any damage which there was none thankfully, I continued heading east towards the VSS Facility with my bots following behind me.

 

After about 10 minutes of travel, we were nearing the Red Racer Factory which was about 1,000 meters out still give or take so took out my Anti-Material Rifle and scanned the surrounding urban area for any potential threats and to see if I was going to have to venture through the Bailey’s Crossroads Metro due to there being rubble blocking the path.

 

When about a minute passed I discovered there rubble in the way that I could get over with relative ease but I don’t think my bots would be able to so I guess I’m gonna have to pass through the metro sigh.

 

For threats, I discovered that there was a raider party made up of 15 raiders walking down the road so I’ll deal with that first before I head on into the metro which I’m not looking forward to since I doubt it’s going to be a fun time if my experience from the games is anything to go off.

 

My bots and I then made our way over behind the raider party with my stealth field active before they then opened fire on them with their laser rifles annihilating the group several seconds later.

 

*Bzzzt Bzzzt Bzzzt…*

 

Once they were dealt with I walked over to see if there was any halfway decent loot which there ended up being 1 Guns and Bullets skill book, 4 Combat Shotguns, 1 .308 Combat Rifle in a sniper configuration, 4 R91 Assault Rifles, 6 Type 93 Chinese Assault Rifles, 8 drum magazines for the Combat Shotguns, 5 20 round magazines for the .308 Combat Rifle, 12 magazines for the R91 Assault Rifles, 20 magazines for the Type 93 Chinese Assault Rifles, 100 rounds of .308, 996 rounds of 5.56, 83 12 gauge Shotgun Shells and 20 Frag Grenades that ended up dumping onto my robots except for the skill book and the frag grenades.

 

As soon as I was done loading up on raider loot I started walking in the direction of the Bailey’s Crossroads Metro entrance with my bots trailing behind me. A short amount of time later we arrived in front of the stairs that lead into the metro below and after looking around the area for a bit we headed inside passing by the partially destroyed rolling security door.

 

After about a dozen seconds had passed it started to get darker as we were walking into the darkness so I turned my night vision on so I could see where I was going and once it was on and my eyes were adjusted to it we continued venturing further into the dark decaying metro.
