Chapter 2: Chapter 2

The sun's early morning rays lit up the sky as Nero laid on the surprisingly comfortable roof of Emi's house.

He yawned then slowly sat up.

The chilly morning breeze felt good on his face as he rose to his feet

Looking downwards, he noticed the city folks beginning their daily routines. Vendors bringing out their items, city guards starting their early morning rounds and adventurers heading towards the direction of the Exalted Dungeon.

In there, most adventurers had three goals in mind. 

Number one would be to grind their level which was pretty difficult to achieve without serious stress and effort. When a person levels up, the physical aspects of their bodies are enhanced so that means the potential for more strength, fast reaction time, increased endurance and an increase in their mana pool but that's just the potential so without actual training the enhancements from leveling meant nothing. So in hindsight a level one would most likely lose to a level two but it all comes down to the individual.

Number two would be to explore the unknown and maybe get lucky by acquiring a dungeon relic

Number three is the good old, kill monsters and hope for drops in order to sell them at a good price to merchants 

A door opened below and out walked Emi who was heading to work.

Nero jumped down from the roof and landed beside Emi startling her.

"Gah!"

Nero laughed at her reaction

"Good Morning"

"Did you sleep on my room again? You do know that you could have slept at my house right?"

While stretching, Nero replied "That takes the fun away from the outdoors"

Emi extended her hand towards Nero was a bit confused at first.

She handed him a crystal necklace.

"This is called a status crystal, it will help others identify you, it's a must have for all adventurers. Now pour some mana into it"

Nero did as instructed and poured some of his mana into the translucent crystal. Suddenly a holographic image emanated from it

"That's a neat party trick there but how did it know my information"

Emi puffed up her chest proudly while giving him a thumbs up

"I filled out your application for you"

Nero squinted his eyes at her in disbelief

"You know what I'm not even going to ask"

Emi then gave him a small black side bag

"So here's your lunch, one escape crystal, one healing potion, one antidote and one mana restore potion"

Nero was a bit taken a back by it

"Gee thanks mom"

Emi then smacked him on his back 

"Well you're all set now so make sure and come back alive"

They then parted ways with her heading towards the guild office and hum heading towards the dungeon

The walk felt like forever to Nero as the followed the other adventurers. Most of them clad in various types of armor and carrying their respective weapons

Majority of the adventurers enter the dungeon with a party. All parties are ranked from E to S based on their achievements together. Nero sister led a B ranked party as a level five before her disappearance. She was one of the strongest adventurers even earning the moniker "White Flash" due to her almost inhuman speed when engaged in combat.

Passing a few more vendors now, Nero approached the dungeon which was a huge structure that floated in the air. It looked ominous as if some evil demon lord had been living there.

The entrance to the dungeon came in the form of a teleporter than transported a person who stepped on it. It consisted of a large stone platform wide enough to fit ten people and four large stone pillars with runic engravings on them, on the top of each pillar sat a large red gem stone the size of  a human head. The gems seems to teleport any living thing that possessed mana but the trick is the living thing needed to have the intention of being transported, otherwise it wouldn't work.

"So the teleporter is over there huh"

Nero stopped and looked upwards at the floating dungeon and thought to himself

"They say that the number of floors there are unlimited with new creatures to fight on every level except for a few safe floors. Infinite magic is what they call it. A never ending battle created to whom ever to please I don't even know"

While still looking up in thought, Nero felt a bump has if somebody walked into him by accident

"Move out of the way scrub"

Nero turned his head to look at whoever said that. It was a male sporting black armor with black messy hair, black eyes, a muscular body and a tall frame. The person had a handsome face and to top it off he held a long silver spear in his right hand.

"No need to be rude Draven" said another voice.

This time it was female 

She had long dark peach colored hair and black eyes. The slender frame of her body was covered by a black dress and silver torso armor along with sliver gauntlets and boots. On the left side of her body rested a blade with a blue rose hilt.

"Come on Julia, this guy had it coming for being a statue in a public walk way"

Nero heard that name before. After getting a closer look at her, he realized that it was Julia Duskmane, the leader of the Black-Leaves party which consisted of three level 3's and Julia who was a level 4. Black-Leaves are considered to be a B raked party due to their party members strength and their numerous achievements that were considered about C ranked 

"Draven be nicer to people"

She walked closer to Nero and smiled. It was a very sincere and kind smile

"Sorry about that"

Nero was a bit mesmerized at her beauty 

"Yeah sure no problem"

The two party members then left in a hurry to meet up with the rest of their party who were waiting on them

Nero looked on as all four of them stepped onto the teleporter. Draven side eyed him as if he had some intricated issue with Nero now 

"Ok guys here we go"

A white light surrounded them and then they vanished instantly

Nero stood there in a bit of shock

"Oh so that's how it works"

"Ok Next!"

The guard who had been there the entire time, motioned Nero to approach. 

After walking onto the platform, the guard turned to Nero and said "You look like fresh meat so don't get yourself killed in there kid"

Nero nodded at him as the white light began to engulf his entire body.
