Chapter 13 - The Powerless Guardian

 

Captain John: Alright, so what you two are gonna do is-

Zeke: Wait, what? You’re not gonna fight with us?
Captain John: I’m trying to observe you guys so I know how to “captain” you all better!

Ano: You can’t be serious!

Captain John: Look, i’m gonna feel stupid if i start barking at you guys to do stuff you don’t want to do! You want a plumber to coach a swimming team!?

Zeke: But Captain John, having you fight with us would help a ton!

Captain John: The point of a Captain is to help you guys fight someone like him without me! I gotta do this job right!

 

Wallus stands dumbfounded that this conversation is happening right now.

 

Wallus: Um, if you all don’t mind… I’d like to continue this fight.

Captain John: Okay, listen guys. Ano, you’re gonna form ice near Wallus outside of his view, and keep that ice explosion thing going for now.

Ano: How’s that gonna help?

Captain John: It’ll keep him distracted, on his toes. And while he’s dealing with that, Zeke gonna’s focus on combat. 

Zeke: Alright, let’s get him for Kai!

Ano: Yeah!

Captain John: Three… two… one… Go!

 

Captain John swings a star as Zeke dashes close behind it, Wallus swats the star away as Zeke shoots a bolt that Wallus deflects and gets caught off guard by Ano's ice that engulfs his feet to his ankles out of nowhere. Zeke kicks him in the face but can't go for another attack as Wallus breaks the ice and jumps back, Ano forms a icicle behind Wallus that explodes which distracts Wallus letting Zeke shoot a flurry of electricity that brings Wallus to a knee before he dashes at Zeke and slams him to the ground. Zeke quickly punches Wallus in the face and zaps away to put distance between them. Wallus’s ankles are engulfed in ice yet again, this time it explodes with Zeke drop kicking Wallus a great distance. Wallus dashes back to Zeke and the two start trading fierce and fast blows before Ano forms an ice wall between them, and makes Wallus’ side of the wall explode. Wallus anticipated this however and jumps up in the air to avoid it, and quickly lands, dashing to where Captain John and Ano are. 

 

Zeke: Electricity Aura Skill; Bolt Horn!

 

Zeke forms a sharp bolt on top of his head and immediately charges Wallus, striking him in the back. Wallus manages to take the pain and grabs Zeke by the robe, slamming him into the ground and prepares to stomp on him but Captain John swoops in and grabs Zeke, skidding across the grass due to his speed. Wallus turns around quickly and launches a wave of air from the might of his punch with Captain John struggling to block the attack with his Blade. Ano dry ice dashes behind Wallus with a ice bat and swings but Wallus grabs it and forcefully swings the bat with Ano still holding it and chucks him to the others, but the bat explodes. Wallus dashes at the others to continue the fight.

Saiko holds Kai on her back as the two slowly slide down the building they were on with a piece of Thread. The 2 sit on a knee as they watch the fight continue.

 

Saiko: …How are they going to take that man down?

 

Kai looks at his arms by his side, building despair as he can’t move them.

 

Kai: I… I need to help! 

Saiko: what!? Your arm is broken! You-

Kai: no! I'm going! I have too!

Saiko: Kai! You can't fight!-

Kai: I know that!

 ….

But… Ano has amazing Ice Power, Zeke has electricity, you have Thread, Captain John has the Power of freaking space! Everyone else is amazing while all I can do is just shoot balls of light and punch people! And i’m not even sure if it does anything! If I can't keep up with anyone, why the hell am I even here!? I fell for an obvious trap and got my arm broken. I needed Talin to bail me out of the exam. I can't do anything by myself! …

...

Saiko: You know…  I'd be saying the exact same thing. I used to, and then you told me to get stronger… To not let my thoughts hold me back, and I took it to heart! Now you’re doing what you told me not to do!? I take back what i said. If Zeke can fight with a damaged ankle, than you can fight without one of your arms! You hadn’t let the odds stop you before, right!?

 

… 

 

Kai looks at her, taken aback at her words,and gets on his feet.

Kai: Saiko, can you Thread my arms together?

Saiko: Yes, what do you have in mind?

Kai: He took my arms…. But I still got legs!

 

Saiko finishes threading Kai’s arms together, and stands ready to fight.

 

Saiko: We’re taking him down, no matter what!

Kai: Yeah! Let’s do this!

 

Saiko holds on to Kai as he dashes towards the fight

The 2 draw attention from the rest

Ano: Kai!

Captain John: what’re you two doing!?

Saiko: A team is supposed to work together, right!?

Kai: Hey Wallus! You should know by now that we’re too stubborn to quit!

Wallus: Yes, i very much see that, boy!

 

Zeke lunges at Wallus chucking a bolt at him that he dodges, Kai catches up to the others and launches a kick with Wallus dodging, but Saiko threads his legs together with Kai quickly taking the opportunity to kick Wallus in the faces, with Zeke following up with a kick from behind. Wallus rips the thread off and lunges at Kai and Saiko but Captain John blasts him away with a swing that launches a star. While quickly getting up from the ground, Wallus’ hand and bent knee are engulfed in ice which explodes. He puts his attention on the incoming Zeke who misses a kick and gets the other kick blocked. he axe punches Zeke to the side and charges Kai who’s forced to dodge a punch that breaks the ground. He turns around and gets blasted by a giant ice shard that Ano threw. Captain John immediately gets in Wallus’s face and the 2 exchange fast blows before Wallus is suddenly yanked by the neck with a Thread making him bend backward with Kai jumping up and landing a stomp in his gut. Without hesitation, Wallus smashes him into the nearby trees.

Ano: Kai!

Captain John: Kid!

Wallus: It doesn’t matter how many of you fight, i will not fail Xa-

 

Suddenly, a chill is felt throughout the air. Everyone’s attention turns to Kai as he slowly gets back up

 

Kai: Hey… Wallus… I-.. I have… A promise to keep!

 

He starts to walk towards the battle

(In Thought)

 

Kai: Talin, this wild surge of energy… are you in control?

Talin: No, i am not… Right now, our mind and soul are dead set on the same thoughts, the same objective… Our whole selves… are in perfect sync!

Kai starts to walk a little faster, and then runs at Wallus who responds by jumping into the air lunging at him and throwing a punch but kai quickly dodges, letting Wallus punch the ground instead. Kai lands and starts to jump at blurry speeds around Wallus, confusing him. Wallus gets struck by bolts from Zeke from behind and turns to him to respond but his ankle is yet again frozen with Saiko swinging some ice shards with her thread at Wallus letting them explode. Kai then immediately jumps in front of Wallus who punches at Kai who dodges twice before Kai leaps upwards and gives a clean kick across his face, Wallus grabs his leg and chucks him away, and punches the ground with both hands causing the field to shatter upwards completely. Jumping onto the debris, he sends a force of wind at Kai on one of the pieces of airborn debris that Kai dodges by jumping into the air, and lands on a small piece that Saiko threaded over for him. Wallus starts jumping off of pieces towards Kai. Captain John launches Ano into the rocks with a white hole and Ano sends an ice wave for Kai to run on with Wallus landing in the middle. Zeke quickly hops through the rocks and tackles Wallus off and back to the ground. Wallus bashes Zeke off him but his legs are immediately frozen. Wallus’ attention is quickly switched to Kai, who jumps onto the closest rock near Wallus, uses his body to lean the rock in his direction and quickly dashes at him. Wallus screams in rage as he tries to land one more hit that he charges alot of his Aura, but Kai manages to spin over the shockwave that came from the punch immediately/

 

Kai: Sorry Wallus, But this is where you lose!!

 

Kai raises his leg into the air, and shouts 

Kai: Narrow Noah!

 

And, with all of his might, kicks Wallus in his face, slamming the two into the ground.

 

The impact causes a burst of wind with everyone gazing at the rising dust.
