I couldn't stop gnawing on my chipped nails, I got here an hour earlier so I wouldn't miss them. The restaurant on sunset avenue was slighter crowded for a Friday night than I anticipated. I strived at the thought of looking at my reflection in the gold rim mirror across from me. I couldn't recognise the girl in the mirror anymore— my hair was in desperate need of a wash, my eyes were puffy and red from carrying all week. The dark circles around my eyes grew daily. The only thing that made me look slightly human was my on sun dressed that I pulled out from my closet. It was the only thing that could fit me anyways, my pregnancy made me two sizes up.

Being back here in LA brought back the reasons I left. The house was still there, my room was still there, my clothes and my pictures. The only thing missing was my family, the only one I had left. The one he took away from me. He took the only thing that mattered to me, my baby. My Amelia.

That night was the dreadful night of my life: I watched as he carried my baby into that jet black car, he ignored my cried, ignore her cries. I was too late, by the time I made it to her room he was already at the door. He left me there crying out for her, I couldn't do anything but gape as he took her. It felt like he took my air, my oxygen.

This last two week without her in my arms was agony and pain. I kept thinking she will forget me, kept thinking she won't need me in her life anymore. I wondered if she changed or looks different.

After hours of crying, I booked the first plane to LA. Took me days for me to get a hold of him. Went to his old house but it was empty, expect the gardener who told me he had a new house. I tried his father building but the security wouldn't let me past the front gate. But I didn't give up, I showed up at his old house, his beach house and office every day even though I knew I wouldn't get passed the gate.

After the fifth day I got a call from him, he agreed to meet me. The conversation lasted a few seconds, he gave me a time and a place before hanging up. I still hear the coldness in his voice. I didn't know what to expect, I knew he wasn't the same person I left over a year ago. I could hear it in his voice, I could sense it now.

"Miss, your party is here" I flinched when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I gazed at the well-dressed waitress, she had a small smile on her face.

"Miss?" she asked more alarmed

"Yes sorry," I got up from the barstool,

"This way please" she heads towards a set of close doors.

Holding my bag closers to my chest, I didn't know where she was taking me. Honestly, I didn't care as long as I got to take my baby home with me. She continued walking down the narrow corridor. I wondered why he chose this place?. She stopped in front of a curtain before pulling it opened. Expecting to see him but it was just a very low table with cushions on the floor. The room was slightly lit with candles around— it wasn't romantic.

"Please take off your shoes and place them here" she points to a shoe rack. Not asking why I took off my shoes placing it on the empty rack.

I turned around to ask where he was but she was already gone.

Okay? This was strange. I didn't know private dining was available in this restaurant. Although I don't eat Chinese like that. I made my way to the cushion, ignoring the harsh smell of lavender. The second my ass touched the cushion the door opened making me bounce back up.

"Could have at least tried" hearing his voice made my insides turn, not understand what he was saying. He pointed to my dress looking repelled by it.  I just stood there like an idiot taking in his perfectly ironed jet black suit, messy hair and unshaven face. He looked painful beautiful but I couldn't comprehend that right now. I need to know what he did to my baby.

"Where is she?!" I yelled my anger taking over. Instead of replying he simply took off his shoes while I was staring in shock. He placed them on the rack and walked over to the cushion on the other side.

"Are you going to sit down?" he asked too casual. He watched for face for a second waiting for a response. When he didn't get on he smirked and said: "suit yourself".

"I wonder what they have today?" he murmurs to himself picking up the menu.

Deciding acting crazy wouldn't get me what I wanted, this was fun for him. I could see it in his eyes. Letting go of my pride I took my seat. Face to face to him, but his eyes remain on the menu. I didn't pick up mine, the last thing I cared about was what sushi I wanted.

"Ahh, just in time," he said when the door opened. My heart jumped thinking it was someone with Amelia but it was just the waitress. I sat there for a minute listening to him order what I think was the whole menu. She bitch didn't even bother asking me what I wanted I knew she was taken by him—I mean who wouldn't. Only if she knew how sick and fucked up he was.

"Xavier, please I need to see her" I begged tears forming. He looked like I've slapped him. "You can't keep her from me" I pleaded

"Oh really, what did you do for a year!" he slams his hands on the table.

"You know why I left, if you were in my shoes you would have done the same" I could see the anger coming back.

"See that's were your wrong I would never have left you, Vanessa. I loved you, I was willing to do anything for you!" I winced at the loved part. Past tense.

"I had to leave Xavier, I couldn't be with a murdered" I regretted that the second it was out. Even though it was the truth. He was a murderer—he killed my mother and brother.

"I'm sorry" I whisper looking down, "I didn't mean that"

"Yes, you did. I have a right to see her as much as you do. I have the take her from you when I think you're putting her in danger. I had to the right to be at her birth, I had a right to choose her name. But you took that away from me Vanessa!" he was out of breath when he was done yelling.

"I will never but my baby in danger. She was safe with me, I would never let anything happen to her" I looked down ashamed at how I failed at her. He took her.

"You need to stop harassing my workers" he warned "stop showing up at my work and my house your only embarrassing yourself"

"I will once you give her back to me, she needs her mother. I need her" at this point the years were falling like a waterfall.

"She needed her father too! Or did you forget that?"

"Did you forget I was her father? Did you think that piss of shit that raped you was her father! Cause that the only shit that would make sense for you to leave me!?"

"No of course I knew she was yours!" I yelled back. I can't believe he just brought that up.

"So tell me, Vanessa, why the fuck did you leave me?" he hands move to undo his black tie, I watch in a trans as he moves it around. I could see a tattoo on his neck. Did he have a tattoo before?

"Well!" He voice brought me back to the room

"I couldn't stay after everything" that was the truth. It was too much for me to take, and the thought of having a new life was amazing. The door opened again— different people walked in with a plate of food on each of their hands. How much shit did he order? I stared at the food as they were arranging it, he was looking at me weirdly. But at least the murder look on his face was almost gone.

"Thank you" I smiled at the last waitress when she put down a white covered bowl. She scowled at me before leaving, bitch. I looked at Xavier waiting for him to start eating what he ordered but he was still staring at me. To be honest, I wasn't surprised, I know how crazy I looked.

"Where is she?" I needed to know where he was keeping her. Was it a safe place? Was she eating okay? My thought went to the pumped breast milk that filed the freeze. I couldn't pump my breast was always leaking like a tap.

"She's with Cara" I swear I almost lost my shit. He left my baby with that whore!

"What!"

"She's very good with her" he scoffed

My hands moved to grab the steak knife next to me, thinking of ways I could kill him with it.

"You left my baby with Cara, the bitch that keeps your bed warm at night!" I yelled at him.

"I will never leave her with someone who I don't trust!" He yelled back, my heart shatters ones more. He trusted her, he didn't deny that she warms his bed at nights.

I don't care, I whispered to myself. I wasn't going to make him drive me crazier. I just need to do what I came here to do. I don't need to know who he had in bed. I opened my mouth to tell him that we can share custody of Amelia, I was ready to do this right away. I didn't want her growing up with her dad since he wants to be in her life.

But once again the door opened and we were greeted with a loud shrieking cry that I recognise anyway. I was up on my feet in seconds. I came face to face with Cara in her usual deep red dress, hair in a bun and my baby in her arms. I have never felt so mad in my life. Mad enough to kill someone. But right now all I wanted was my baby.

"What are you doing here, I too wait in the other room" Xavier was also upon his feet.

"I'm sorry she just won't stop crying and we ran out of milk" Cara begged to look terrified of Xavier. He walks over and took crying Amelia out of her hands. I stood there frozen not knowing what to do. I could feel Cara eyes on me. Watching me like a hawk, I smirked remembering the last time I saw her.

"She's hungry," I tell Xavier as he struggled to make her stop crying.

"I know that," he said angrily going back to ignore me.

"Where is her food" I turned to look at the stupid Cara.

"She finished it" she looks between me and Xavier

"Didn't you bring another bottle?" I asked her stupidly

"I didn't plan on staying this long" Xavier answered moving to sit on the floor with a slightly calm Amelia.

"Let me hold her" I begged

"No"

"Please Xavier"

"No."

"I can feed her," that got his attention his eyes moved to my breast then back to Amelia chubby red face.

"Leave Cara," he said shortly.

When she didn't move "are you deaf?" I asked her. She was making this longer I needed to hold my baby.

"I'm only letting you hold her so she can feed, after that she will be coming home with me," he said once that blonde bimbo was out the door.. I nodded moving to take her, I could talk to him about the other part later, right now I get to feed my baby after two weeks.
