"Where are we going?" I asked Alan as he zoomed through the city.

"I'm taking you to go see him so you can both sort out this bullshit," he says not taking his eyes off the road.

"I don't think that's a good idea" I murmured looking down. I didn't want to see him after what just happened, my emotions were all over the place. But it would be good to find out where he was staying, maybe I can also see Amelia.

"Listen, he is in the office right now. And I'm going to talk some sense into him". He wasn't home, he had an office?

"Read what it says in there," he points to the brown envelope on my lap.

"He is filing a lawsuit against me for

-Child neglect

-Abuse

-Household dysfunction

-Abandonment

-Emotional distress

-Withholding Child.

I gape at Alan speechless, could he do this? Could Xavier sue me for all these lies?

"Surely, no one would believe this?" I asked worriedly. I didn't abandon my child—he took her.

"Hopefully we won't have to find out," Alan says not sounding too hopeful.

"Is he allowed to do this?" Can't I report him to someone?

"Unfortunately, you did take her away from him. He has the right to sue you for that, but we can't afford that. For all, we know he is paying the judge."

"I can't let him win Alan, he won't allow me to see her ever again." He looks over, eyeing at me with so many emotions in his eyes it caught me by surprise. He nods not saying anything and continues to drive.

The car stops a few minutes after inside a parking lot that was filled with cars. This was his father company, it was a lot bigger than I expect. Alan slammed the door reminding me why we were here in the first place. We talked towards the lift in silent, he was busy texting on his phone. While my head my running miles with thoughts. What would I say to him? I didn't prepare for this today.

"What floor?" I asked once the lift opens.

"39," he replies. I don't know why I wasn't expecting him to be on the top floor.

"Did you tell him we were coming?" I still wasn't too sure if I could trust Alan as well.

"Yeah he knows, just texted him."

"And he was okay with me coming?"

"He didn't say anything about it,"

"What should I expect?" I didn't know what I was walking into, for all I know it could be a trap. And Alan could be in on it too.

"Not sure," he shrugs.

I stay silent through the rest of the ride—that wasn't long. I could hear my heart beating against my chest as the lift stopped. I suddenly felt hot in my jacket so I began taking it off, I feel Alan eyes on me but I ignored it. This might come off wrong—me taking off my jacket. I wasn't wearing anything too revealing, I had on a midi white dress.

"This way," he cleared his throat leading me out of the lift. Ignoring the looks we got from employees, some greeted Alan. But the ignored whilst others moved out of the way.

"Is Xavier in?" he asked an older woman that was behind a desk next to two huge doors.

"Yes dear, he just finished his meeting" she smiles at him, but soon die when she saw me.

"Oh my" she whispers in shock, placing her hands on her chest. Does she know me? Do I know her? Before I could try to place her face Alan pulls me through the door.

This office screams his name, the colours were very dark. The huge window giving it light. The room was cold, temperature and feeling. There wasn't anything personal—no pictures or flowers just pieces of furniture.  There was a big dark desk in the middle where he sat, I could eye his figure from here but not his face.

"You two look cosy together," his voice vibrates through the room.

"Should I be expecting a wedding invitation soon?" he chuckles.

"I brought her here so you talk like adults," Alan says walking forward but I stayed in my spot.

"No, there is nothing to talk about. The time to talk was a year ago" I could hear the anger in his voice.

"Have some fucking respect man, she's the mother of your child. And you wanna treat her like shit, how will you explain that to your daughter when she grows up huh! Remember what you told me three years ago, remember?!" What did he tell you three years ago, I wanted to ask but I knew it was in everyone favour if I didn't say a word because Xavier was already off his seat.

"Well, let just say you are behaving no differently. Now by the time I get back, I want both of you to agree on how you will raise that girl. She doesn't need to end up like us" he storms out leaving me with the devil.

Xavier stood there, behind his desk. Watching me. I shifted my feet uncomfortable by his stare, I wasn't sure if he was angry or not. There weren't any signs of emotions on his face. It was blank as a canvas. Deciding it was best if I break the silence, I asked the most important question.

"Where is she?" He didn't do anything for a while before he started making his way towards me. I didn't see Cara around but for all I know, there was a secret room in here where he kept them both.

"How was the meeting with your lawyer?" he asked stopping a few feet from me.

"I can't discuss that with you" I mumble, how did he know I went to see a lawyer?

"Did you like my surprise" he was smiling, he saw the confusion on my face "the reporters"

"Why did you do that?" he thought this was funny?

"Just thought the people deserve to know you were back in town" he shrugs.

"Where is Amelia, Xavier" I don't care about his games.

"Where else? With her mother— Cara. Who by the way does an excellent job taking care of her" I saw red the second he said that. I saw her mother, not her. I carried her for 9 months, I stayed up with her when she had a fever, she cries for me not that slut.

It was already done before I realised what I did, the sound echoes through the walls. My palm burning. I slapped him, that was nothing compared to what I was thinking. My eyes widened as he held his left cheek, I shouldn't have done that. His face started slowly getting hard.

I took a step back, I know that look. I remember that look. That was the same look he gave me at the party, that was the same look he gave me when I called him crazy, the same look when he found out I kissed Josh. I shouldn't have slapped him—but it felt good. I knew if I didn't leave I wouldn't be able to stop what happened next.

Before I took my next step, his cold hands wrapped around my throat. Taking away my air. I scratch his hands trying to get them off but it only made him squeeze tighter.

"You shouldn't have done that, Vanessa," I quiver from how cold he sounded.

"Just because you were gone for a year doesn't mean you forget who owns you, who controls you. Who saved you" he snarls in my ear.

"You seems to have forgotten your lessons," I wanted to cry out but only a pathetic whimper came out of me.

"I can always help you remember," his other hands strokes my right arm.

"Only if the thought of me fucking you didn't repulse me" he snickers letting me drop to the floor. I cough trying to take some air in.

"Now, let's talk" he points at a set of couches as if that didn't just happen. I've convinced myself he had bipolar.

"Alan's right, we can figure this out" he takes a sit on the love couch.

It took me a second to get off the floor, catching my breath before sitting in front of him with murder eye. My neck was so sore, I know they will soon turn into an ugly colour. I can't do this again, I can't let him control me. This time if I left, I will make sure he can never find me or Amelia again.

"You're only allowed visitation until I know you won't take her and run away" I had to play his way if I wanted to win, so I agreed.

"That's fine," I say smiling. He looked surprised for a second but continued.

"You will not be left alone with her, I will always be in the room or Cara" I nodded through the burn.

"You can only see her on the days I see fit, that will be clear once I draw up the contract." I wanted to argue against that but I didn't. As long as I get to see her.

"You will also drop the custody lawsuit and I will also drop my lawsuit"

"Were you going to go through with it?" I asked him about the lawsuit he had against me.

"What do you think?" Honestly, I don't know, he wasn't the same person I left behind or maybe he was.. Maybe he was good at hiding it before or perhaps, perhaps I was blinded with lust and love that I didn't see who he truly was.
