[At night in Mira's cabin, Kazuki sits on the floor by a fire with a blanket over his shoulders and stares at the fire while lost in thought.]

      Mira - Are you Okay?

    Kazuki - Oh!

[Kazuki looks and sees Mira carrying a large tray of foods and Kaya carrying a kettle and some cups. They put down what their carrying and sit next to Kazuki.]

    Kazuki - Ahh.

             I'm fine.

             Just a little shaken, i

             guess.

      Mira - I can understand why.

             We're all still very

             impressed you made it

             back alive.

      Kaya - And we're all very glad

             too.

[Kaya pours some hot tea from the kettle into three cups and hands one of them over to Kazuki.]

      Kaya - Here.

    Kazuki - Oh, thanks.

[Kazuki collects the cup of tea. Kaya then hands over the second cup to Mira and takes the third cup for herself. They all then gently take a long sip and sigh in relief.]

      Kaya - Still, i can't believe

             you actually saved

             eleven students.

             That's a whole new

             level of "Wow", even

             for you.

[Kazuki smiles.]

    Kazuki - I just did what i

             wanted to do.

             It really WAS nothing.

      Mira - That may be the way the

             way YOU see it.

             But that doesn't apply

             to everyone else.

    Kazuki - What do you mean?

      Mira - Do you really think ALL

             Xeno Hunters are

             valiant warriors,

             willing to sacrifice

             their own lives for the

             sake of saving a bunch

             of people they don't

             even know?

             If you do, then you're

             highly mistaken.

    Kazuki - Oh!

      Kaya - I don't understand.

             Don't Xeno Hunters

             protect humans?

      Mira - I never said they

             don't.

             But the time when all

             Xeno Hunters had a true

             sense of duty and

             determination was a

             long time ago.

             In this era, a

             significant amount of

             them only care about

             rising to highest

             ranks, all for the sake

             of gaining money or

             authority.

             mean those Xeno Hunters

             still don't have

             virtues to follow.

      Mira - It's much better to

             look at the Xeno Hunter

             Corps like a school.

    Kazuki - A school?!

      Mira - Yes.

             They basically operate

             thesame way.

             Teaching most of the

             younger or newer

             members things they

             wouldn't normally know,

             as well as tasking them

             with missions they have

             to carry out.

    Kazuki - I see.

      Mira - And just like any

             school out there, the

             Xeno Hunter Corps has

             rules that must always

             be followed...

             And never be broken.

    Kazuki - What happens to a Xeno

             Hunter-

      Mira - If that Xeno Hunter

             happens to break a

             rule?

             Then you're punishment

             would depend on the

             severity of your

             crimes.

             Just remember...

             A violation of a rule,

             holding great

             magnitude...

             Could lead to your own

             death via execution.

    Kazuki - Ah!

      Kaya - Ah!

[Mira smiles.]

      Mira - Don't be so scared.

             The Xeno Hunter Corps

             IS a just and fair

             organization,

             nontheless.

             Naturally, you're

             always given a chance

             to defend yourself if

             you're ever in a

             situation like that.

      Kaya - Like a trial?

      Mira - Exactly.

             And the only reason why

             these rules are set

             anyway is to keep new

             Xeno Hunters vigilant.

             And to keep higher

             ranked Xeno Hunters

             from stepping out of

             line.

      Kaya - So, if Kazuki goes up

             the ranks, will less of

             these rules apply to

             him?

    Kazuki - I don't think that's

             how it works, Kaya.

      Mira - Actually, that's

             exactly how it works.

[Kaya smugly smirks at Kazuki.]

      Kaya - Heh.

[Kazuki sighs.]

    Kazuki - Go on.

             Laugh.

             dumb, Kazuki.

             Not everyone is as

             smart as me, you know.

             Especially not YOU.

             After all, you ARE the

             lesser twin.

[Kazuki grabs Kaya's neck and face, smushing her cheeks together.]

    Kazuki - Too much laughing!

      Kaya - Nrgh!

    Kazuki - Grrrrr...!

      Kaya - Nrrrrr...!

      Mira - By the way, Kiboi...

    Kazuki - Oh?

[Kazuki squeezes Kaya's cheeks even harder.]

      Kaya - Youch!

    Kazuki - Can't we at least eat

             first?

[Kazuki and Kaya carry their plates and notice they are both empty along with all the other plates.]

    Kazuki - Heh?

      Kaya - Heh?

[Kazuki and Kaya look at Mira who has food crumbs all over her mouth. She then burps and cleans her mouth with her hand.]

      Mira - That was delicious.

    Kazuki - Heh?!

      Kaya - Heh?!

      Mira - And just so you know,

             that was our last meal

             for tonight.

    Kazuki - Hehhh...?!

      Kaya - Hehhh...?!

[Kazuki and Kaya shed tears of betrayal.]

      Mira - Are you ready to talk

             NOW?

    Kazuki - Hai...

      Kaya - This is totally unfair.

    Kazuki - So what's this about

             anyway?

      Mira - It's about your sword.

    Kazuki - Bakuya?

[Mira nods "Yes" to Kazuki. He Kaya then both pay close attention to Mira.]

      Mira - I didn't wanna jump to

             any conclusions, so i

             wanted to be sure my

             thoughts were accurate

             about this before i

             told you.

             But now there's no

             doubt...

    Kazuki - What are you talking

             about?

      Mira - The Katana you wield is

             not simply just an

             ordinary sword.

    Kazuki - I know.

             It's a Gyogarra sword,

             right?

      Mira - No...

             It's much more than

             that.

    Kazuki - Oh!

      Mira - The sword you wield is

             actually a member of a

             mythical class of

             ancient swords only

             known, as the "Blades

             Of Legends".

    Kazuki - Ah!

      Mira - A Blade Of Legend

             differs from a regular

             Gyogarra blade in many

             ways.

             The first being the

             aesthetics.

             Always remember that

             only a Blade Of Legend

             is capable of baring

             such a strange and

             unique design, just

             as yours does.

    Kazuki - I see.

      Mira - A Blade Of Legend also

             differs from a normal

             blade in other ways,

             such as being sharper,

             more durable, and even

             also being able to

             amplify the Kinetic

             Arts of its user.

             However...

    Kazuki - Oh?

      Mira - All those

             characteristics mean

             nothing in the face of

             its greatest and most

             unique trait.

    Kazuki - And that is?

      Mira - The fact that all

             Blades Of Legends...

             Are alive.

      Kaya - Ah!

    Kazuki - Ah!

      Kaya - Alive?!

             You're saying Kazuki's

             sword is actually

             alive?!

      Mira - Blades Of Legends are

             living embodiments of

             ancient great tales.

[Mira smiles.]

[Kazuki and Kaya quickly move uncomfortably close to Mira.]

[Kazuki and Kaya slither away from Mira.]

    Kazuki - I do have a few

    Kazuki - Well, you said every

             own tale, right?

             tale.

      Mira - I wouldn't know.

             As long as it's YOUR

             sword, that's something

             you'll have to find out

             on your own.

             Legend wielder chosen?

      Mira - From what i've heard,

             the blade symbolizes

             the user's own 

             spiritual core.

      Kaya - So basically, the

             wielder has to have a

             direct similarity to

             the legend the blade

             tells?

      Mira - Yes.

    Kazuki - Oh!

[Kazuki looks over at his scabbarded Katana on the floor.]

    Kazuki - [Thoughts]

              ...I wonder what's

              YOUR tale.

[Kazuki expression becomes highly stern as he gets lost deep in thought and has a quick flashback of his fight against the flesh xeno.]

    Kazuki - ...Mira.

      Mira - Hmm?

[Mira and Kaya notice Kazuki's seriousness.]

      Kaya - Oh...

      Mira - Kiboi?

             What's wrong?

[Kazuki sternly looks at Mira.]

    Kazuki - I want you to tell

             me...

             Mira...

             How are humans...

             Turned into Xenos?

      Mira - Ah!

      Kaya - Oh!

[A great silence fills the atmosphere. Mira's expression then greatly saddens as her head droops.]

      Mira - ...I suppose it IS time

    Kazuki - Hai.

      Kaya - Hai.

      Mira - ...Alright.

[Mira sternly looks at Kazuki and Kaya.]

      Mira - Listen to what i'm

             Kazuki, i wish to ask

             you a crucial question

             first.

    Kazuki - Oh!

             of the night.

             And no doubt...

             your family.

      Mira - He is the one true lord

             of all Xenos.

             A divine god to them

             all.

             In other words...

             family's greatest

             curse.

             Making him YOUR natural

             enemy.

[Kazuki and Kaya's fists tighten in boiling rage.]

    Kazuki - ...Mira.

[Mira's fists tighten in growing rage.]

      Mira - They call him...

    Kazuki - ...Yamora...

             Kruh...!

      Kaya - You'll pay!

    Kazuki - Oh!

[Kazuki sees Kaya violently gritting her teeth in overflowing anger.]

      Kaya - You'll pay for what you

             did!

             I swear to God!

[As tears begin to flow out of Kaya's eyes, Kazuki gently places Kaya's head on his shoulder.]

      Kaya - Oh...!

[Kaya and Kazuki slowly calm down. Kazuki then wipes the tears from Kaya's eyes, making her smile.]

      Mira - Have you two calmed

             down?

[Kazuki and Kaya gently take a deep breath. Then nod "Yes" to Mira.]

      Mira - Good.

             Because there's more

             for to know.

             ...Yamora is only

             capable of turning

             living beings into

             Xenos by making them

             consume his own blood.

             Or by forcefully

             injecting it into their

             system.

      Kaya - Gross.

    Kazuki - ...And how would you

             describe him?

      Mira - ...I wouldn't know.

             In this generation...

             No Xeno Hunter has ever

             done so much as lay

             eyes on that man.

             He takes full priority

             on keeping himself

             hidden at all times.

             All that's known...

             Is that he's infinitely

             stronger than the

             entire Xeno Hunter

             Force combined.

    Kazuki - Ah...!

      Kaya - Ah...!

      Mira - Now you two understand

             why this war has been

             going on for millennia.

    Kazuki - ...Why would he go

             through all the trouble

             himself?

             a weaker Xeno to do

[Much later outside Mira's cabin, Kazuki sits on a tree and stares at the moon.]

    Kazuki - Oh!

[Kazuki looks to his side and sees Mira sitting right next to him.]

    Kazuki - I don't see the point

             in you always asking

             me that.

      Mira - Ahaha.

             It's just one of the

             many ways i get my

             kicks.

    Kazuki - How's Kaya.

      Mira - She fell asleep after

             some tea and water

             again, so i put her to

             bed.

    Kazuki - Typical.

      Mira - ...So do you really do

             this every night?

    Kazuki - Hmm?

      Mira - Staring at the moon.

    Kazuki - Oh, yeah.

             I guess it helps me

             clear my mind.

      Mira - Hooohh?

             I see.

             I know what you mean.

             It's thesame thing with

             me.

             I always seem to feel

             at ease when i'm in its

             gracious presence.

    Kazuki - Really?

      Mira - Of course.

             I AM a devout believer

             of the great moon

             goddess.

    Kazuki - Uhhh, r-right.

      Mira - ...Well, it's getting

             pretty late.

[Mira turns around and looks at Kazuki.]

[Mira sees Kazuki slowly dozing off.]

      Mira - Look at you.

             You can barely even

             keep your head

             straight.

[Mira lies Kazuki's down and places his head on her lap.]

    Kazuki - Mira...

             What are you...

[Kazuki slowly closes his eyes and falls asleep. Mira then smile.]

      Mira - You know, you really

             should sleep more

             often.

[Mira gently strokes Kazuki's hair.]

      Mira - Good night, Kiboi.

             Sleep well.

[Much later Kazuki slowly wakes up.]

    Kazuki - Mmmm...

             Oh!

[Kazuki sits up and sees Mira sleeping next to him on the tree.]

    Kazuki - Oh...

[He looks at Mira's lap and sees her skirt ruffled. He then looks up at her beautiful, slumbering face, glimmering under the radiant moonlight.]

    Kazuki - Ah...

[Kazuki heavily blushes. He then quickly shakes his head to remove all negative thoughts and gently carries Mira and takes her into the cabin.]

[In a bedroom, Kazuki gently lays Mira down on a futon and tucks her in. As he tries to walk away, Mira unconsciously grabs and cuddles his arm.]

    Kazuki - Oh...!

[Kazuki smiles and sits down. He then gently strokes Mira's white hair. After a while, Kazuki gets up.]

    Kazuki - Sweet dreams...

             Mira.

[Kazuki walks out of the room and gently closes the door.]

[In Kazuki and Kaya's room, Kazuki walks past a peacefully sleeping Kaya and lays down on his futon, pondering for a while. He then picks up his strange, white cloth beside him and sternly stares at it.]

    Kazuki - ...What would you two

             do at a time like this?

[Kazuki looks over at Kaya sleeping, making him warmly smile.]

    Kazuki - Good night, Kaya.

[Kazuki puts down his white cloth, turns of the lantern, and lies down.]

    Kazuki - [Thoughts]

              Whatever challenges

              MAY come our way...

             [Thoughts]

              I'll always keep you

              safe, Kaya.

             [Thoughts]

              ...No matter what.

[Kazuki slowly closes his eyes and falls asleep.]

[Later in the night, three horrible voices call to Kazuki in his dream. The first voice having a deep bass tone, while the other two have a lighter tone.]

   Voice 1 - Kayne...

    Kazuki - Ngh!

   Voice 2 - Reach...us...

   Voice 3 - Reach...us...

   Voice 1 - Kayne...

   Voice 2 - Help...us...

   Voice 3 - Help...us...

    Kazuki - Ugh!

   Voice 1 - Kayne...!!

    Kazuki - Ah!

[Kazuki jolts up as he awakens, sweating and breathing heavily.]

    Kazuki - Oh...

[Kazuki looks over at Kaya sleeping next to him.]

    Kazuki - [Thoughts]

              ...Was that just a

              dream?

[Kazuki sighs. He then lies back down with a worried expression on his face and slowly falls asleep again.]

[Four weeks later, Kazuki's Xeno Hunter items arrive.]

    Kazuki - Mira! Mira!

             It's here! It's here!

[Kazuki childishly and excitedly runs to Mira with a large, wooden box.]

      Mira - What's here?

      Kaya - Your Xeno Hunter items?

    Kazuki - No, it's my Xeno Hunter

             items.

      Kaya - B-But i just said-

    Kazuki - Moving on...

      Kaya - Grr!

[Mira chuckles.]

      Mira - Well, what are you

             waiting for?

             Open it.

[Kazuki excitedly opens the box and looks inside.]

    Kazuki - Hahhh.

[Kazuki brings out his Xeno Hunter uniform.]

    Kazuki - Woah...

             Cool...

      Mira - Hmmm...

             Not bad.

             But it DOES look a

             little dull.

    Kazuki - Dull?

      Kaya - Just like its owner.

             Heh.

[Kazuki pinches Kaya's cheek.]

      Kaya - Itai!

      Mira - Mhmm.

             It doesn't look bad.

             It just looks a little-

[Mira smirks at Kazuki.]

      Mira - What do you say we

             spice it up a bit?

[Later on, Kazuki puts on a highly flashy, flamboyant looking version of his Xeno Hunter uniform, customized by Mira.]

      Mira - Now THAT, is a Xeno

             Hunter.

    Kazuki - Ummm, Mira?

             Don't you think this a

             little too flashy?

      Mira - Nonsense.

             A great friend of mine

             flashiness is what

             makes you stand out of

             the crowd.

             genius.

             this stands out a

    Kazuki - I really have to learn

    Kazuki - Why does this uniform

             feel strangely light

             despite everything i'm

             wearing?

      Mira - Oh, that.

             That's because all Xeno

             Hunter uniforms are

             made with a magically

             woven fabric.

    Kazuki - Ah!

             Really?!

      Mira - Umu.

    Kazuki - Umu?

      Mira - When put on, the fabric

             creates the uniforms

             lightness and

             breathability around

             the Xeno Hunter's body.

             That'll make it far

             easier for you to fight

             and maneuver your way

             through dire

             situations.

      Kaya - Wow.

             And all for free too.

    Kazuki - That's really what

             you're worried about?

      Kaya - Of course.

             By the way, is there

             anything else in that

[Kazuki checks inside the box.]

    Kazuki - Hmmm...

             Oh!

             Looks like there's one

             more thing.

[Kazuki pulls out a strange looking dagger.]

    Kazuki - A dagger?

[Kazuki skillfully and rapidly spins and swings the dagger multiple times.]

    Kazuki - Woah...

             I'm guessing this

             dagger is meant to

             protect me if i'm ever

             separated from my

             sword.

      Mira - That would be correct.

             However, that shouldn't

             worry you.

    Kazuki - Why?

      Mira - If the spiritual link

             is strong enough, a

             Sword Of Legend can

             never be separated from

             its wielder.

[Kazuki looks at his scabbarded Katana for a few moments. He then places his dagger in its sheath and keeps it with him.]

    Kazuki - Oh?

[Kazuki notices a stern expression on Mira's faces as she looks at a window.]

    Kazuki - Mira?

      Kaya - Oh...

             Ah!

             Does anyone else hear

             that?

[Mira continues to silently stare at the window. Kazuki then smiles.]

    Kazuki - I see.

[Kazuki kneels down on the floor with Kaya and Mira.]

    Kazuki - ...It's time, isn't it?

      Mira - ...Ahh.

[At that moment, a rasping peregrine falcon comes flying into the cabin through the window.]

    Kazuki - Ah!

             A falcon?

      Kaya - Wah!

[The falcon flies past Kaya's head and lands on Mira's arm and gives her a rolled up note. It then flies away and leaves the cabin.]

    Kazuki - What is that?

[Mira unrolls the note and reads from it.]

      Mira - "Young Kazuki Kayne.

             You are to swiftly make

             your way northeast to

             the Capital City of

             Gomma where children

             have been rapidly

             disappearing at night.

    Kazuki - Ah!

      Kaya - Gomma City?!

             But that's where...

    Kazuki - ...Anna...

[At night, In Gomma city in the northeast, the police inspect a horrifying trail of blood.]

      Mira - Hunt down the Xeno

             lurking in the shadows

             and put an end to its

             reign of terror once

             and for all.

             Do everything in your

             power to carry out

             these directives

             without fail.

             Good luck to you, young

             Kazuki.

             For this is your first

             mission...

             As a Xeno Hunter".

    Kazuki - ...My first...

             mission...

[Outside Mira's cabin, Mira faces Kazuki and Kaya as they prepare to head off.]

      Kaya - Well...

             I guess this is really

             goodbye.

[Mira smiles.]

      Mira - As much as it pains me

             to say it...

             It is.

[Kaya and Mira warmly hug eachother.]

      Kaya - I'll miss you so much.

      Mira - I'll miss you too,

             Kaya.

             Take good care of

             yourself.

             And take good care of

             him.

[Kaya's smile grows wider.]

      Kaya - I will.

[Mira and Kaya break from eachother's embrace. She then gently pets Kaya's head.]

      Mira - Goodbye, Kaya.

[Mira walks over to Kazuki.]

      Mira - Take this, Kiboi.

    Kazuki - Oh?

[Mira hands over a strange looking clear crystal necklace to Kazuki.]

    Kazuki - Oh...

             What is this?

      Mira - It's called a Xeno

             Cell.

             It's what Xeno Hunters

             use to trap Xenos to

             be used in Basic

             Conclusion.

    Kazuki - Oh!

      Mira - If you ever come face

             to face with a Xeno

             beyond your handling,

             you can use it to trap

             the Xeno, then expose

             to sunlight the instant

             the sun rises.

    Kazuki - Wow, really?

      Mira - Yes.

             But remember that the

             Xeno Cell is only

             capable of holding one

             Xeno at a time.

             And much more powerful

             Xenos can easily break

             free from it with ease.

    Kazuki - Right.

[Kazuki puts the xeno cell necklace in his pocket.]

      Kaya - Hey, Mira.

             He's blushing again,

             isn't he?

    Kazuki - Kaya!!

      Kaya - What?

             I'm not wrong.

      Mira - Ah...

[Mira heavily blushes in embarrassment.]

      Mira - I-I-I think you two

             should be going!

             R-Right now!

      Kaya - Wow!

             That's a whole new

[Kazuki smiles and begins to head off with Kaya. They walk a significantly far distance.]

      Mira - Kiboooooi!

    Kazuki - Oh!

[Kazuki and Kaya turn around and see Mira waving at them from afar.]

[Kazuki and Kaya both smile and wave goodbye to Mira. They then turn back on track and head off to their future destination]
