We drove for a few hours, and I used the time to look through the new skill book that I had gotten from one of the monsters I had killed. It was called 'Advanced Shooting,' and it looked like it would be pretty helpful! The first skill was something called 'Headshot,' which would deal extra damage to an enemy if I hit them in the head, but it cost twenty-five percent more energy to use.

I also found a skill called 'Suppressive Fire,' which would allow me to shoot continuously for a short period of time without having to reload my weapon, but it increased the recoil on my gun by fifty percent while active... Not to mention that it also costs quite a bit of energy per second to maintain.

The last two skills in the book were both passive skills, though, so they didn't require any additional energy expenditures. The first one was called 'Stopping Power,' and according to its description, it would increase the damage of all firearms by five percent... Which could be useful depending on what we ran into next.

The second passive skill was one called 'In the Zone,' and it said that while active, all firearm skills would cost fifty percent less energy to use. That one was a no-brainer as far as I was concerned, so I quickly activated it before putting the book away.

The next few hours were pretty uneventful as we left the city and started to drive through a wasteland, stopping only when we needed to rest or eat/drink something. We had a lot of food and water with us because we hadn't planned on being out here for more than a day or two... But now that we had this ATV thing... It looked like our trip was going to take quite a bit longer!

I wasn't sure where Chloe was planning on taking us, but she seemed to have some sort of destination in mind. She wouldn't tell me what it was, though... which just made me even more suspicious! What could be out there in this wasteland that she didn't want me to know about?

I was pondering this question as we drove along when I suddenly heard a loud noise in the distance, and Chloe immediately slammed on the brakes, causing me to fly forward and hit my head on something. I groaned as I sat up, rubbing my forehead as Chloe started to look around nervously.

"What was that?" she asked, her voice shaking slightly.

"I don't know," I said as I grabbed my M16 off and pointed towards a screaming roar sound. "But whatever it is... It doesn't sound friendly."

We sat there for a few minutes, not saying anything, as we listened to the noise getting closer and closer. It sounded like a bunch of animals... Or monsters... Growling and snarling. I couldn't tell which it was, but Chloe's grip on the steering wheel was white-knuckled, and she looked like she was about to have a panic attack.

"Should we move?" I asked cautiously, not taking my eyes off the direction that the noise was coming from.

"I don't know," Chloe muttered, her voice shaking slightly. "What if it's more of those things from before?!"

"Well," I said slowly as I considered our options. "We can stay here and wait for them to find us... Or we can try to drive away quietly."

Chloe thought about this for a moment before finally starting up the ATV again without making any noise whatsoever which told me that she had made her decision. We were going to try to drive away! She put it into gear very slowly so that there wouldn't be any noise and then started to drive away at a snail's pace.

I kept my gun pointed, ready to start shooting at anything that moved, but thankfully... We made it away without being seen or heard. Chloe breathed a sigh of relief as she sped up slightly, and I just shook my head. This girl was something else entirely!

"What the hell was that?!" I asked as Chloe finally relaxed slightly in her seat.

"I don't know," she said with a shrug. "But whatever it was... It sounded hungry."

"Where are you taking us?" I asked as Chloe started to pick up speed.

"You will see when we get there," Chloe said, and I just sighed. This girl was seriously starting to get on my nerves!

We drove for maybe another hour before Chloe finally pulled over to the side of the road, and I looked around, trying to see if I could spot anything that would give me a clue as to where we were or what we were doing here. But there was nothing but wasteland as far as the eye could see.

"Where are we?" I asked as Chloe got off the ATV and started walking towards a small hill in the distance.

"Come on," she said without looking back at me. "I want to show you something."

I hesitated for a moment before following her, keeping my hand on my gun just in case this turned out to be some sort of trap... But thankfully... It wasn't anything like that. We walked up the hill until we reached the top, and then Chloe pointed down into the valley below us.

"Do you see it?" she asked, and I squinted my eyes, trying to make out what she was pointing at... But there was nothing.

"I don't see anything," I said, and Chloe just sighed.

"It's a city... Or at least it used to be before the bombs fell," she said, and my eyes widened in surprise as I finally saw what she was pointing at.

From our vantage point, we could see the outlines of buildings that had been destroyed long ago, and it looked like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie! It was amazing! And scary... But mostly amazing!

"There is a dungeon down there, but it doesn't get cleared often because people don't like leaving the city," Chloe said, and I frowned.

"Why not?" I asked, and Chloe just shrugged.

"I don't know... Maybe because it's dangerous? Or maybe because they are just lazy." she said with a shrug. "But either way... We are going to clear it out."

"We are?" I asked skeptically, and Chloe just nodded her head.

"Of course! What else did you think we were going to do out here?!" she asked, and I just sighed deeply before following her back to the ATV. This girl was seriously something else!
