Chapter 11: Ch. 11 First self doubts.

More wolves came out of the cave, but they missed us, because the smell of the blood of their friends was on us. 

About an hour later, Pearl woke up, and I decided to hide everything I felt about her when she was sleeping. Not only is it too fast, but also because I didn't know if she was even attracted to girls. 

Anyway, I also suggested for her to get some points into stamina, so that something like this does not happen again. 

She was very thankful I hid her, but she also looked very embarassed. I mean, it is normal to feel embarassed when you just woke up after falling unconscious right after fighting with one enemy. 

The pack was supposed to be seven or eight wolves, and we have defeated two. This means there is at most six more wolves. Therefore, we can do our previous tactics again, until they realise, what we are doing. 

So we did it again. And again. The first time, out came two more wolves. But the second time, three came out. 

The first two were similar size to the smaller one from before, but when the three came out, one of them was again, bigger than the other two. 

This meant that I fought the two smaller ones, while Pearl fought the bigger one again.

This time the fight was much easier than before, because we both leveled up. 

This meant no more Pearl sleeping in my arms,or right beside me. For some reason that thought had hurt my mood more than I thought it would. 

Either way, this left at most one other wolf in the cave. So we decided to go in there carefully, and find the last remaining wolf. 

Then, Pearl took out a small lantern. "Hey, Kore, can you light up this thing? I found it in my pocket some time ago. It's supposed to light up an entire room." 

"Of course, since i do have a lighter."

And, after lighting up the lantern, we went into the cave, and started looking for the wolf. 

The cave was more linear than what I expected. As we were walking through it, we heard a growl. 

I turned on my 'Light infusion', and 'Light burst', while Pearl stood a bit back, and started creating small spikes, floating in front of her hand. 

They were connected to her hand by thin tethers, by which she controlled them. Quite the smart way of fighting in an enclosed space. 

After preparing, we started walking forward again, this time as quietly as possible. 

Then we found a room, bigger in height by about one and a half times, and wider by at least two times. 

There we saw the last wolf, taking care of, and playing with some cubs. 

"I... I don't think I can kill them like this, Pearl." those were the only words I could wisper right now, as I turned to look at her. 

"Then, please don't look. I will take care of it." she said while smiling gently. "You won't need to be hard on yourself because of this."

Her hand rose, as if she was trying to cup my cheek, or brush it, but she quickly remembered she still had the spikes connected to it, and in the other one, she was holding the tiny lantern. 

So, she walked in there, while I stayed back. 

Why did I not expect this? I should have been prepared for something like this.
