Kalea has moved to the mainland from Hawaii and is having a hard time adjusting to the cold weather, new people, and new everything. The tropical trees are replaced by pine, and the warm sand is replaced by busy harbors and fishermen.

Her new best friend Molly helps her get used to a new life, and she starts to feel that she can make it in this new town.

But her mind is always going back, in the far reaches of her mind, to the treasure she found, on the beach many months ago.

Her treasure is ancient, it's alive, and she doesn't know where it came from.

All she knows is that it's always thirsty, always demanding, and she can't help but feel that it's sinister.
